Im surprised Heroin isn't on the list but whatev's
Eoghanii woah lmao heroin is probably one of the greatest songs ever written tbh
0bbpoison it’s literally my favorite song of all time
Ya, melon is schleep
Vincent Trivigno He picked Sweet Jane as number 3. That's not exactly a deep track
Heroin would come full circle now, arguably more socially relevant now than it was 50 years ago.

Even though its really short I think I'll be Your Mirror is an amazing song.
Omg yea so eerie too ^_-
I wish I could like it, but Nico voice ruins it for me
verticalfish I like her German accent it adds flavor to the track for me and Lou Reeds guitar playing ties it all together
Ye the whole album is phenomenal
After Hours, the final song played on WHFS in Bethesda at 102.3 before they shut down the transmitter
No one respects lady godiva's operation enough

Hannah i fucking love ride into the sun
WHAT GOES ON
ride into the sun wouldve probably been their best if they actually finished it
How does NO ONE love "beginning to see the light" or "new age" those are my two favorite
Love the transition of rhythm in beginning to see the light. Love that track too, you're not alone
Two fantastic VU songs. Beginning to see the light is kickass rock n roll!
There are problems in this times, ooooohhhhh but none of them are mine!
New Age is brilliant. Also I don't know why no one talks about Oh Sweet Nuthin'. It might be more "accesible" than the rest but fuck me. It's such such a powerful song, the god damn drums in the end are killer.
Beginning to see the light is too long and repetitive imo. Other VU songs had good reason to be long and repetitive, this one didn't

No white light/white heat songs?
There she goes again is one of my favourite songs, gotta love the riff and lyrics~
The demo is ( far ) better
Too bad the riff is copied from Hitch Hike. Still a great song though
@@thebadfella5296 it’s an extremely simple rif to call it a rip off, even the original probably wasn’t original
@@Stanley_Baby I know it was only 9 months ago, but my comment makes me cringe now. The riffs are curiously similar, and Hitch Hike probably didn't invent it, but I think they're both great songs
@@thebadfella5296 Yes I agree, and I’m Sure Lou would love to have written a song that inspired someone else to come up with a great song. It has similarities to Sunday morning and for me they are the groups two best songs.

This is a great vid man. Wish you would do more on them. Sunday Morning is absolutely beautiful. Underrated at times. I hate how everyone thinks all VU songs relate to drugs in some way. Some songs mean exactly what they seem to mean. Lou Reed wrote Heroin, that was a drug song. If hes writing about drugs he wont hide it.

@William Magee yes, that is just you.
The repetitiveness I'll 100% agree with. I listen to lots of post-rock, repetitiveness is usually my default listening. But the solo? Man, I dunno how you can find that ugly. It's like pure, sugary syrup getting stirred around.
European Son is criminally underrated
you should review something of Sonic Youth!

Good job dude. Finally something that made me click on your video. Nothing to do with the band, but just the curiosity of seeing the 'best tracks from a particular band. Nice.
Three groups/artists you can't get first time around are Velvet Underground, Grateful Dead and Captain Beefheart. Once you can come to appreciate them you will love music oh so much more. I'd actually include the Beach Boys here. Basically it comes down to loving innovation and execution.
My favourite band. I believe Heroin is the best song ever written. As for my favourites:
1. Pale Blue Eyes

Very difficult to narrow this band down to just 10 songs. I must say that Heroin will always be my favourite track. The original VU version is magnificent in its slow, burning build. However, Lou Reed's live Rock 'N Roll Animal version has nearly surpassed the former's greatness in my mind, with its breathtaking musicianship and glamorous excess creating an arena rock anthem out of a lurid, experimental drone.

Pretty good list, I would've personally take out "Jesus" "Sweet Jane" and "Venus in Furs" and swapped "Run Run Run" "Here She Comes Now" and "Heroin." Anthony, have you listened to the Quinn Tapes, yet or Live: 1969, they are decent enough bootlegs of this band considering most of those were recorded 40 years ago.
