The 10 inch Mountain Extreme works great for hiking too. It's preference of course, but I actually wear the non inulsated Mountain Extremes for hiking/back packing. I did a 20 mile trek around the San Francisco mountain range north of Flagstaff Arizona in these boots yesterday. I was in a very rugged alpine terrain on portions of the Weatherford trail and had to travel through many miles of overgrown trail with dozens of fallen trees on it. There was a terrible fire 2 years ago, that's why it is currently in this condition. Anyway, I wouldn't have wanted normal hiking boots. These are much better.

Sorry, been hiking in leather Norwegian welted boots for nearly 55 years and no moulded on sole boot is worth $450

Looks great. Are they available in the UK?
Is the sole of Hardscrabble Hiker boots stiff enough for use with C1 crampons?
