    Amazing pond, I like how there's an upper deck to look down into the pond while chilling in the patio chairs. You still have the lower window that's popular now, but get to enjoy the koi from the top where they look better.

    Great advice! I did something similar with a 24 inch AE bead in the light of saving energy costs. amazing, clarity bumped it back up as a test and the water did increase in fines. i also choked down on the air to the bottom drain and that also improved drain function. Keep up with the great video's.

    10 days into new pond same set up Nexus 220 and 24 inch bead from skimmer. Great advice from Tim and Paul who supplied everything I needed. Early days and all pond tests good on daily testing and completely gin clear with hungry fish which look fantastic. Great help from Chris Gutteridge in fitting everything( other than a bit of sulking when dog ate his lunch). Currently running 6000 l on Nexus and 12000 on the bed but if fines appear will drop the rate and report back.

    brilliant channel and i could not agree more about flow rates etc but i think the main thing with bead filters is to not blast the media with to much flow so it has time to collect the solids!. I did the same with my home made tempest filter by turning it down to half flow and it was unbelievable!!

    Tim, this is just an amazing tip! We've got a Nexus 320 {alongside a cetus sieve) and have turned down the flow to minimum on a 20,000 varipump and the clarity in the pond has improved amazingly in just a day! I'm also guessing that this will allow the water to have longer contact with the beneficial bacteria and so will improve the water quality and help with the parameters.
    Thank you SO much for sharing this information, the pond looks better, the water parameters are still good, (heated to 15°) and to top it all, money saving!! ☺️👍🏻☺️

    I am running a sieve and a bead filter with micro K1 . I have a tempest on the skimmer which I have just installed which has made a difference. But I am still struggling with a lot of fines. My pond is 3000 gallons and I have been running my pump on 75%. It’s 20000 variable pump so I am going to turn mine down to 50% and see if it makes any difference 👍👍👍

    Some addition to the nexus 😅 ... trident , makes sense tho doesnt it slowing rate down ,filters more out like more contact time i get logics behind a trident aswell using vortex more but effectivly your forcing water down to come back up less holes through more media rather side feed but speeds to quick so once youve clogged up lower k1 micro your then needing to clean it where as normal means filtering through whole side of eazee slow ot down few daily cleans no trident needed , il be adding a bead next year without doubt

I enjoy watching videos from all over the world and figuring out how different places do their filtration. Hi Shaun, sorry only just seen this. Bead is still running at between 35/40% on 20k pump. Water parameters remained stable and feeding capable upto 1.2 kg per day during growing season. The only change I made with this configuration was to increase trickle in / out speed to a little over 0.5 lpm. This was to increase weekly water change to due to heavier feeding regime than before. Water clarity is still spot on

      Hi Craig. Thank you, Yeah that a Big part the trickle in, Game changer. Are you feeding growth and colour?

    • @craigvickers874
      @craigvickers874 7 месяцев назад +1

      I feed wheatgerm for whitening all the way through the winter then switch to balance in both floating & sinking from spring upto around July to get the Bio rocking, I then hit it hard on growth floating & sinking until November then I feed 1 month just on colour before switching back to wheatgerm. I never stop feeding in winter just slow it all down. All foods contain prebiotics to keep digestive system healthy.

    I would have thought everyone already knew the slower the flow the more fines you catch the way you clean a mat filter is by blowing everything through it with a hose so fast flow is going to do the same thats why i do 13,000 gph in 14,000 pond but trough lots of filters get good turn over but low flow in the filters

I know losing water is natural with nature, however my pond seems to lose water suddenly, then it levels for days, then a sudden big loss. Its about 10 years pond life, 7000 litres. The droppage concerns me. have switched off tonight.. am I been dramatical.
