- Some interviews with some vampires.
Flatmates Viago (#TaikaWaititi), Deacon (Jonny Brugh), and Vladislav (Jemaine Clement) are three vampires who are just trying to get by in modern society; from paying rent and sticking to the housework roster to trying to get invited in to nightclubs, they're just like anyone else - except they're immortal and must feast on human blood.
When their 8000 year-old flatmate Petyr, turns 20-something human hipster Nick, into a vampire, the guys must teach him the ropes and guide him through his new found eternal life. And in return they are forced to learn a thing or two about modern society, fashions, technology, and the internet. But it's the introduction of Nick's human friend, Stu, that really changes the vampire's lives and attitudes towards the ever-changing world around them.
When Stu's life is threatened, the vamps show us that maybe humans are worth fighting for, and that even though your heart may be cold and dead, it doesn't mean you can't feel anything. #WhatWeDoInTheShadows

One of the best movies I've seen in years. One of those rare movies that you can re-watch over and over again. It's basically gold from start to finish. I've been encouraging friends to watch it and no-one is biting, it's driving me insane.
How could they not!?
Your mates should be convinced just by the preview here.
I spent a year trying to convince my friends to watch it. None of them did. Then I put it on after we had New Year's dinner a couple of days ago (because I'd arranged for it to be the only film available), and, predictably, they loved it. Some people just need a push.
I'm convinced Gona watch tonight
Maybe you have to invite them to watch it.
Pun intended?
I like to think a real vampire made this film to laugh at it with their buddies
Nerolie let's 're watch it lol
Taika waititi, he is one of the characters in the movie and the director from thor ragnarok
Le Cancer r u implying he’s immortal 😱
His name is Taika Watiti
Le Cancer damn that hilarious guy direct a MARVEL movie?!! wtf
i wish i could un-see this movie so i could see it again for the first time cuz holy shit, what a fantastic film
oh my god samee
Watch to the end of the credits and the bonus scene will help you with that...
Penny Lane Search this on google "Samsung Unspoil me" It makes u forget
Ima be honest you had me worried at the start of that comment but I'm glad to say the twist surprised me
Unbelievably funny
I had the good fortune of seeing this film at the ArcLight in Hollywood where Jemaine & Taika did a Q&A, as well as a meet & greet, after the film. The coolest thing (in my opinion) that they told us about the film was that Stu wasn't originally supposed to be in it. He worked on crew and everyone thought he was such a likeable guy that they wrote him into the film as himself. :)
Also, in the fight scene in the hallway, they didn't use harnesses or anything to fly around. The room was literally turning in circles. :)
+KTnarnia hahaha that's awesome hahaha
Everybody likes stu :)
Funny thing is that there are talks about a spin-off centering arround Stu and the werewolves!
+Leo Richards Stu Stu Stu Stu Stu Stu Stu...
Love it when Taika complains about the stains on his nice antique couch...
"Which one, the red one?"
"Well, it's red _now_ , yah."
Vampire Pride
This should have been a TV series
Yeah, like Flight of the Conchords
hell yeah
Emily Grant it could have been even better than The Office
it will get a tv series
it is getting a series. it will be based on the werewolves and it will be called We,rewolves
I love that scene when Nick tells Petyr about not eating Stu, and Petyr nods to show he's cool about it. XD
Luis Díaz what’s even funnier is how all vampires seemed to love Stu
"Stu is the first human friend that I have had for a long time - with humans there is a tendency to die"
"we're werewolves not swearwolves" hahaha xD
It's like he has absolutely no filter on jokes, he just makes them no matter how bad they are... He seems to love awkward lame jokes for some reason, no taste?....I made it about 20 mins into this movie after someone recommended it and no one laughed at anything, so we turned it off and watched something hilarious like the i.t crowd.
Steve Rogers has entered the chat
Pack sticks together...even when you really want to shout the word heck from the rooftops.
QuiteNot Oh well. That's your opinion I guess. A very sucky opinion.
@@QuiteNot thanks for letting the world know that you're stupid.
Vladislav had the best line," I'm not going. Leave me to do my dark bidding....what are you bidding on....a table."
Instant classic. This film never runs out of fresh ideas injecting humor into the vampire genre. Can't wait for their next film.
Every word is true, every sentence is needed, every minute is a treasure in this movie. This is not just comedy, they created fantasy superrealism. This movie shows vampires of all ages and kind. The fresh born, the young rebel, the calmed mature, the old one who takes care of next generation, the women and the sweet but most complex "fussy" one. When u watch this movie u can feel how calm and how "immortal" the vampires are. They are chewing, tasting and fully swallowing every scene with their absolute tranquillity. This is art. Hollywood just wants to be this clever and original. Thanks for giving the world this unique experience guys, I'm looking forward to every Waititi's movies in the future.
I love u man, truly with all the love in my heart. I recommend this movie for every breathing individual but be sure u watch it in original language. Have "so much fun" like i have every time watching it.
word!
u sound like a veteran vampire
I agree with you but if theres one thing hollywood does not put as top of their list its being "creative and original". They literally want to function as a cash printing machine.
James Tocher Now I don’t find them at major fault after exploring movies from different genres and comments on different trailers. It’s the audience that isn’t ready to leave the comfort zone and try out new things. At the end it’s business for Hollywood so they can’t take risk in every movie. People are either expecting too much realism from the movies or are in their complete fantasy land with superheroes but not willing to check something in the middle of that.
an amazing movie! and they got their budget from Kickstart! how crazy is that
+Alexx Anime Wow
wow...I didn't know about kick-starter! I just watched this on Netflix... BLOODY BRIlLIANT!!! i absolutely loved it! hilarious & ingeniously directed...this joins Beetlejuice as my favourite Halloween comedies! fyi...another ingenious film to come from kick starter was "Kung Fury"...
Bro this wasn't created by kickstarter
That was just for US release
I think there are two versions, the first one funded on Kickstater and it was so popular they got funding for the this (second) version.
I saw this movie a couple of years ago with my friends thinking it was some stupid, really bad Netflix movie that we were going to make fun of all throughout the movie. A few minutes into the movie we knew this was not what we thought it was going to be. I swear we were dying of laughter. This is a must watch for anyone!! I still watch this movie from time to time. Also If I’m not wrong, the director/actor of this movie also directed Thor Ragnarok which I thought was pretty cool.
warewolves not swearwolves is the best thing ever
COMING SOON: We're Wolves. Same people are making it, this time, following the werewolves.
Absolutely hilarious from start to finish. Loveable characters, all of them. And Stu is really great guy.
We all love Stu
Yeah man stu is a great bloke much respect
This movie is pure perfection. I can't get enough of it. I watched and on the next day I was telling all my friends "You have to watch it! It's amazing!"
"i'm supposed to pay the rent...but i don't :)) "
Total bad ass..
The kind of room mate (human or otherwise) you don't want...but usually get.
Fucking BAD BOY RIGHT THERE!!!
@@trinitymplayers 😒😒👍
Absolutely brilliant film. The humour and cast are fantastic. Couldn't have expected anything less from the writers.
"Hi my name is Stu, and I am a software analyst, I work for a geographic system company. Basically we take business requirements from organizations and then we analyze the requirements, and then we build softwares to fit those requirements.."
Beast: "He's a virgin! He's a virgin!"
I.... Can't.... Breathe....
"I don't think she's a virgin if she's doing THAT..."
I recommend this film, it's an absolute masterpiece. Hilarious, genius and unique.
Isnt it a series
@@propro693 the series is based on the film
I love how there's a sequel in the works called "we're wolves"
seriously? or are you joking? i really hope you're not...
@@bopoofdt narrator: he was...
do you wanna eat some busgetti? xD
Lol I like that scene and how he was inspired by The Lost Boys xD
+papergirl I read that in Deacon's accent and I actually laughed out loud. Hard. 😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
lol me and my brother have been saying that back and forth since we watched it
@Hannah Sutcliffe Same xD
This is the funniest horror comedy I've seen since Zombieland and Shaun of the dead! Saw it yesterday at the 14th Neuchatel Fantastic Film Festival, and the audience was laughing from start to finish. Stay in the theater for the after credits scenes.
ds37 Did you watch Tucker and Dale vs evil :D. It was pretty funny too. I rember watching it as a 17 year old so it might be one of the reasons but I think it is still pretty funny horror comedy movie..
Deadpool Right!. Dale and Tucker was excellent. Personally wasn't blown away by Zombieland.
I think this was much better than Zombieland
"What are we?" "Werewolves, not swear-wolves"
It's "Fairwolves, not swear-wolves"!
Flo You are wrong.
needed this
Can someone explain the point of that joke about ''swear-wolves" please..
Greatest quote ever
Peter was by far, the most interesting, complex, multi faceted character. He appeared to be a hard man but he had a definite warmth about him.
It's 2023 and I'm here after watching the series. I love it! Anyone else?
This movie is pure fucking genius.
This movie is rare comedy gold. You can quote literally any line in the film and laugh your ass off. Taika & Jemaine better hurry up with that sequel ASAP 🤣
After showing my friend Our Flag Means Death, I mentioned this movie in passing as "a vampire comedy with Taika Waititi" and instantly she wanted to watch it. It really just sells itself from there, huh.
Please please please make a series out of this!
But Peter didn't make it and it can't continue without Peter!
+Finean Williams maybe prequel?
+Hypocretin I think they confirmed a sequel
+BeeKay Yes! There's talk of a Ware Wolf spinoff. xD
New series on FX.
This is one of the most hilarious movies I've seen in a long, long time! We didn't stop laughing for at least 40 minutes. Absolutely brilliant
I saw this movie 3 times and it is great. But somehow it is impossible for me to remember what happens in this film.
Der deutsche Adler Yeah it's weird. I feel like i've seen this movie and absolutely loved it but everytime I watch it I forget everything that happened after it ends.
that's because it doesn't have any plot
In some way it's good. You can watch this many times.
This is very much recommended to all moviegoers may you be a horror fan or not. The actor/director is very talented and he deserves a lot of credit! Seriously, I got more laughs here than Shaun of The Dead and I love Simon Pegg's humour. The least I can say for this movie is that curse those people who downvoted this!
Dude! This freaking movie was AWESOME. I had tears streaming down my face.
Best vampire movie ever ... EVER!!!!
I just watched this movie for the first time last night. it is absolutely brilliant. Original, funny, and witty. one of my new favorites
I don't think she's a virgin if she's doing that
R Tam who?...
@@alicelu5691 Did you watch the movie?
i showed this movie to my bestfriend and halfway she paused it. i thought she hated it. but she said,"thank you for showing me this film".
😆😆😆 gurl, u welcome!
"I'm a vam- you know Twilight? I'm the main guy. I'm Twilight."
This movie has so many quotable lines, with my favourite probably being: "I like to think of it like this: If you're going to eat a sandwhich, you would just enjoy it more if you knew no-one had fucked it."
Saw this last night at Melbourne International Film Festival, the whole cinema was laughing from start to end. Highly recommend this!
I am not a fan of vampire movies what so ever but, this movie was so friggen hilarious. It is one of those movies where you can watch over and over again and never get sick of it.
No joke this got me out of my depression.
Who let Peter out? Ahahahahahaha!!!!
"i tend to think of virgin blood like this.....if you were to eat a sandwich it would just taste a lot better if you knew....that no one had fucked it" hahahahaha
This definitely is a modern day classic
I believe what made this film an absolute comedic masterpiece is the fact that its so grounded..
"Vakey, vakey."
Avaken
Haven't seen such a funny flick in years! The only thing that bothers me is that I can't find the song they practised before going out. Brilliant soundtrack! I hope someone helps. Thank you in advance
The song at the end of the preview here sounds like something by Gogol Bordello.. thats about all I can tell ya.. lol.. hopefully thatll help you find it :-)
The song at the end is "Leningrad - Lastochka"
This film is absolutely amazing, the casting?perfection filming? Perfection it’s so funny and has great vibes I just love it so much
Oh man, this looks hilarious. Another movie that's doing vampires right.
That looks entertaining as hell.
Vladislav : "You haven't done dishes in 5 years Deacon"
Deacon : VAMPIRES DONT DO DISHES.
Hopefully this will play at a cinema near you its one of my faves of 2014
Literally the best movie of all time, I love Taika, hunt for the wilder people and Thor Ragnarok was also amazing
EVERYONE MUST WATCH THIS! THE BEST MOCKUMENTARY SINCE "THIS IS SPINAL TAP"! ALSO, THE GREATEST VAMPIRE MOVIE EVER MADE.
Music plays in traler is: Ленинград "Ласточка"
I came here just for this. Thanks man!
I wish they still made comedies like this. Truly funny.
I saw this movie last night in Wellington, it was beyond hilarious!!!!! brilliant and clever movie, I want to see it again!
Has this been released in NZ already?? Hope this gets released in Australia...so need to see this!! Is Brett McKenzie in this?? Cheers!!
Yeah it's probably out of the movies by now though :)
Eugene Ratana its out in australia 4 september
Brett mackenzie isn't in it unfortunately but there's a lot of funny characters to make up for it
Saw this a couple years back and gave it a watch again tonight after having watched Bram Stoker's Dracula (1991) and Nosferatu (1979) recently again. This was so fun and clever. Loved how they referenced their sources.
This movie was just great, so many incredibly hilarious moments to laugh about even after the movie has ended. Such an original idea and brilliantly executed. If you haven't seen it, definitely give it a go!
Oh my word this was amazingly funny. I don't think I've laughed so much and so hard to the point of near vomiting before. My stomach was in so much pain from laughing. I love the scene with Deacon and his assistant in the bar and she asks about the deal. You need to watch the beginning scene to appreciate his response to a word beginning with 'D', and his disgust is priceless :D
I've just watched this movie right now and I can't remember having so much fun in a while. Seriously, go see it. It's not only hilarious, the chacters are s tenderly written, I loved each one of them. A great surprise wich should be turned into a TV series.
And then and spinn-off of Stu. That guy is awesome.
BEST - MOVIE - EVER
Do not come here to see if this trailer helps you to decide between watch it or not, just do it! you won't regret it!
The scene at 0:25 is probably my favourite scene in the whole movie, laughed my ass off the first time I saw this scene.
Just the way Taika says "Ghost caaap" in that excitable muppet voice. Get's me every time :)
PLEASE RELEASE IN AMERICA. MY FRIENDS LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS MOVIE!
papa pig
I generally dislike a lot of comedy and horrir because it seems mindless but this movie so artfully takes the tropes of both genres as well as the documentary format without making it seem like a tired pastiche, It's so absurd but you are still willing to suspend disbelief and really like all the characters. Even when you can see the jokes coming from a mile off, the impact isn't lessened. Plus Murray being an alpha is just fucking priceless. Fantastic performance by Jemaine.
the trailer doesn't even express how funny this movie is
Serious question- is it gory? For someone who never watches horror or even thrillers?? It looks funny I think!
@@sweet2sunshine No it's not gory as far as I can remember. It's not a scary movie at all
Taika's movies man... what a treasure. I also love Boy,
I need to watch this again...I haven't watched it in two and a half days.
Came here after seeing Jojo Rabbit for the 2nd time! WHOA I've been sleeping on Taika far too long. Truly one of the most inventive directors of our time.
Also Boy and Hunt for the Wilder People. They're pretty good.
He's shooting another movie right now called Next Goal Wins. I can't wait for that one.
If you loved this movie then I recommend Taika's new film 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople'! Honestly it's so good.
This should be a series. I'd watch 15 seasons in a sitting :D
There is the TV series sequel on FX Channel
New season premiered. It's on Hulu
The brilliant thing about this movie was that at least half of it was improv. They'd film these guys taking the scene in different directions with a vague idea of where they wanted it to go and they just built a movie around it.
Amazing film. Every scene is pure gold.
I finished it and I immediately wanted to watch it again. It's no basic American comedy. Taika Waititi is an unbeatable filmmaker.
"I'm the bad boy...I'm supposed to pay rent...I don't pay rent"
I watched this flying from Auckland to Melbourne on Air New Zealand. Best thing I've ever watched on a flight.
Absolutely top notch. One of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time
Luke Santore
"Get out of here, I am doing my dark bidding on the internet!
Oh what are you bidding on?
A table. It's only 200 dollars."
I was living under a rock for a few years to not find this gem, this movie was hilarious
cant wait to watch this movie. almost done with the third season of the show. makes me want to be a vamp this Halloween 🎃
Watched this earlier while looking for some horror films to watch in October. I'm usually very picky when it comes to horror comedy but this one hundred percent delivers. One of the best I've seen yet.
I absolutely love this movie!! I watch it as often as I can, and I wish they made another one! But we all know that the part two's are never as much fun as the part one!! Gonna watch it again in just a few minutes!!!
In case you don't know, there's a tv series as well now and it's really great too!
@@gee1011 I have seen ads for the show, but never sat down to watch it, although I just might in the near future! Thanks!
@@elizabethgaspodnetich4322 Hope you enjoy if you do get round to it! Some of the same people who made this movie also made a similar series about inept pirates, called 'Our Flag Means Death'- I just finished watching it and really enjoyed it, so there's something else to add to your list! Just discovered this film and I've been trying to watch everything by Taika Waititi since
One of my favorite movies and my absolute favorite comedy of all time. I know everyone has different tastes and opinions but I truly feel that if you have a sense of humor, that it's almost impossible to dislike this film.
alright this my new favourite comedy ! watch it people! it's so worth it :')
Spinal Tap meets Dracula, Nosferatu, Interview with a Vampire, Twilight, Let the Right One In, and MTV's Real World... F-ing brilliant!
I find Taika hot AF
Holy shit me too!!!!!
Ok dean
Anything Taika touches turns to gold
I really hope more comes from this. I loved it so much. Could maybe be a television series?
I am so glad I saw the movie without seeing any of the trailers. So many fun surprises spoiled here.
Just saw this while on a plane and it took so much effort to not complete burst out laughing
I loved it
This is the best vampire movie ever. I watched it as a kid it was absolutely hilarious
What a great movie, laughed so much. Definitely recommending this to all my friends and family!
I've recommended this movie to so many people...definitely on the list of my top all-time favourite films
This movie was surprisingly good... style reminds me of The Office. Really good... will watch it more in future... this should be actually series, I feel.
I know this movie from beginning to ending, but still me and my girlfriend are gonna watch it AGAIN tonight. Everytime i simply _think_ about the existence of this movie i have to laugh.
I just saw this today and omg! it was hilarious. I laughed throughout the movie. It's been a long time since I've seen such a funny movie. It's the bomb!!
I clicked on this video expecting to see a very poorly made attempt of a film, only because I had just watched 3 other trailers (of separate movies) that were. However I am pleased to say that I will absolutely take time and money out of my day to go see this movie. It looks hilarious and I am extremely excited!
This movie was hilarious!!! I dont think they showed it here in NY..but just watched it yesterday on tv😂😂😂👍
Where did u watch it??
Bilal Kort u can watch it on rainierland
Masturbatosaurus love that website. ive been using that for most of my movies and tv shows
I agree, I saw it a few times already almost a week ago on G2G & it was too funng. I always loved Flight Of The Concords, so this was a nice humorous throw back in style for me.
Masturbatosaurus I never heard of that site before. I been watching my movies and shows on Glowgaze now G2G.com. The site usually post streams of movie a week or two before release. It's been working for me so far.
Its 2019 and I'm just finishing this.. thank you RUclips recommendation.. you've finally blessed me
