I used to make taffy rock candy German Springerle cookies..had surgery a couple of weeks ago still pain and some restrictions..This is my favorite time of the year to bake and make fudge,candies and popcorn balls with homemade marshmallow Ahaaa add chocolate bits, carmel,get creative I like to finely crush pecans,macadameans, ect.If you add nuts to any Xmas food make sure guests and children will not have any allergic reaction. I'm going to try next week should be better.

My mother and I always cut green and red cherries in half top center of pinwheel then bake. So pretty and Xtra chewy cherry treat. The green cherry pinwheel was my favorite. Also you've got to try peach halves and 5-10 whole Cloves.Marinate in fridge after bringing to quick boil on stove. Leave covered in fridge. Serve as a side with your Xmas ham. Can also do this with pear halves which I also add green and red food coloring. Try strawberry or Raspberry or both 1-2 can whole cranberries with orange zest or make your own zest.Only use boiling water according to jello box. Cold will come from canned cranberries Ocean spray the best and sometimes you can find it with orange zest in it.Some grocery deli have it pre-made and just add to jello cover saran wrap chill overnight night

I love the way you make your filling. I like that you cooked the dates down in the orange juice as opposed to blending them which wouldnt work for me with my very inefficient blender! Also loved that you used natural orange zest and the juice as opposed to orange blossom water that i've seen in other recipes. Great recipe thanks so much!

Kaleb, Great recipe. Saw a great hint the other day. Take an empty paper towel roll and cut it down lengthwise and put the cookie dough in it. It keeps it round while cooling in the frig. No flat side. Thought it was a great idea to share. Agree?

Yum!! Ask your grandma if she’s ever had Twilbys or Trilbys. My grandma always made them at Christmas time. They are an oatmeal cookie sandwich with date filling.
