Thank you, Yvonne 😀 I do seem to do a lot of darker stuff on my channel (not entirely sure what that says about me), so I thought it best to throw in something light and fun. A palate cleanser, if you will. Anyway, I do so love Douglas Adams and it comforts me greatly knowing that, even though he is gone, I am free to travel the lovely worlds of his mind whenever I take the fancy.
If anyone is just finding this channel, as I have, these stories are very well read. Almost one-person radio drama level of acting while avoiding ostentatious effects that would detract from the reading. Very few "audio story" reading channels are able to read in the voice of a writer. To the extent that I kind of would like to hear what the speaker thinks of the story at the end of the video or maybe a video exploring the "story" behind the story. We so often get stories about the authors, but there are few that focus on a particular story and the experience of conceiving it, publishing it and the effect it had on their career or on the genre or its influence.
Thank you TJC, your comment and compliment are much appreciated. I'd love to be able to do more analysis, but to be honest my time is already quite limited. Even the short introductions I presently do take a fair bit of time to research and write. Doing a deeper dive on the story itself, as fun and rewarding as that would certainly be, would inevitably even further increase the (already embarrassing) amount of time between uploads. I'll mull it over though and see what I can do. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out.
Thank you, Lauren. It really does makes me happy to hear that. I've been rather plagued by technical issues of late which has affected the time it takes to edit videos, and of course life does tend to get in the way from time to time. I have a few videos in the works at the moment, and hope to upload them in the next couple of weeks. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this one 😀
Hi, I came across your channel from a link on Jasper L'Estrange. All I can say is WOWbagger. As a DA fan I found your reading top notch, and will be comg back for more.
Thank you Agrajag, that is very kind of you. Agrajag? Wowbagger? There's certainly no need to question your DA fan club membership, nor wonder at the reasoning behind your choice of which video of mine to watch 😄 As a large DA fan myself, I am heartily warmed that you enjoyed my reading of this wonderful writer. As for Jasper, I owe him much. Not satisfied with creating his own marvellous RUclips channel (www.youtube.com/@EnCryptedHorror/featured), he also decided - at no profit whatsoever to himself - to actively promote my much smaller channel on his just because he liked one of my videos. My little hobby channel is still very small, but it would be much smaller without him, and that's a fact. Thanks again for watching and commenting, Agrajag. Time, I think, for a jynnan tonnyx.
I can't believe I didn't know he'd died. Have loved his stuff from my teenage years to now at 50. A true genius First rate narration too, for the record, almost Douglas Adams like as well
Sorry you had to hear it from me, Mark (or at all, for that matter). Two of my favourite modern authors left far too early; Douglas Adams at the age of 49, then Iain Banks ten years later at the age of 59. Both uniquely talented writers, both utterly irreplaceable. It's tempting to imagine that perhaps the remarkable, exceptional and truly creative are fated to exit the stage earlier than most. In reality though, I suppose we just feel their loss more keenly. At any rate, I'm glad you enjoyed the reading, and appreciate the compliment.
Hello again Mattie 🎉. Thanks again for nice comments about stories on horror story corner. The next one is hopefully "Wandering Oscar". Its an attempt to 'go inside' an M R James type thing...from the point of view of the monstrously horrible thing. Difficult. But i hope you like it..haven't sent it yet.
Hello Mattie. Just to say i have another story coming up on the horror story corner tomorrow. Under my actual name! Lol! I had been using my elderly fathers devices- rather than stealing his work or anything. Hope you like it.
@@MattiesStoryland thanks Mattie. Just finished what I hope was a good story called "The Bad Bath Mat". Kind of a joke sounding title. But I hope a good old fashioned chiller.
@@MattiesStoryland hello Mattie. A very nice scary story channel is going to put up one of my stories. One of the smaller ones - but great quality. Lots of Poe and M R James etc. And the gentleman can, like you, actually do a good narration. I will let you know about it if you want - when it 'comes out'.
Well...as it happens, I've already done it. You can find "Alice in Wonderland" in its own section on the "playlists" page (broken down into 12 parts). Hope you enjoy it 😄
Very enjoyable!!
Thank you 😀
Excellent story choice - and you delivered it to utter perfection. Thank you so much.

The best story ever!😂😂😂
Wonderful, isn't it?
I've always loved that story and was a Douglas Adams fan. Well done again, Mattie. You're a storyteller par excellence.
Thank you, Arelman. I've always loved this story, too. To me, it's just so quintessentially British 😄 Sure do miss the writer, though.
Great choice, Mattie. Well read, a great tale. Thank you x
Thanks Ruth, so glad you enjoyed it 😀
Oh Mattie! That was fantastic! You read so well. Debbie
Thanks Debbie, I do rather love the story.
Great to see you back uploading. I’ve missed listening

😁😁😁
Adams was a treasure, and a sorely missed one. Simply irreplaceable.
Funny, just came across Taking the Biscuit by Paul Lewis, KitKats and a granny at a lunch counter, but pretty much the same story😁
Hi Mattie, I haven’t posted here in a while but really enjoyed the story.
Thanks Julia, very glad you enjoyed it. So glad to hear from you and hope all is well.

Hello Stephen (Archie of yore 😄). I just checked out "I Show You All The Secret Things" on @TheHorrorStoryCorner and loved it. Great work!
@@MattiesStoryland thanks very much Mattie. So glad you enjoyed it.

R. Dawkins.
Completely irreplaceable as a scribe, heart-breakingly missed as a person.
Had to just add - thanks! (my book going well).
Glad the book's progressing, Archie 🙂

@@MattiesStoryland thanks. Did not mean the story was necessarily quality lol 😂. Referring to the channel. Thanks again.
Your talents here are wasted, my friend. Big screen please!
Just put your face closer to the monitor 😄 Great to hear from you, chum. Glad you liked the reading.
Any crazy chance for Alice In Wonderland?🙏🏻🫀
