In our opinion, it should have always had a manual transmission and should have launched exactly like this 45th Anniversary Edition model. Here's why this Toyota Supra is the one you actually want!

In the States you have to go through the dealership mafia to get one
In Canada you have to steal or kill to get one.
The dealerships are so going to mark those up big time
Only 900 being made... um.. duh do you think? They are jacking things up and out of control as it is on mass produced lines. Why would they not on a reduced line?
I went to my dealership, and they are already talking about a 10k mark up at least.
60k+ for sure
Why aren't those calipers red/orange tho...
75k
Recently, Zach's been described as a "Camera Ninja" and "Camera Wizard," but I'm most looking forward to his ascension to the final form of "Camera Paladin." That said, a great look at an awesome car was delivered. Cheers, lads!
The engine was co developed with Toyota engineers from the very start (starting (Dec' 2011~Jan' 2012), so were the chassis dimensions, the design because of German laws were completely separate (badge engineering is literally illegal for German brands)
Performance R&D & tuning was done completely by Toyota though winter testing was done by BMW, for what it's worth the old coveted MkIV Supra actually has parts from the same now Canadian company which supplied the old 6 speed transmission because IIRC Getrag is part of ZF which itself is under Magna Styer who's headquartered in Extra-North North-American Canaidia, built by the same folks who build the old Chrysler Pacifica minivan
What's more that beloved MkIV Supra's engine was developed by Japanese Yamaha, it's body designed by California based American ferm CALTY which was already on a chassis based to compete with European sedans/coupes using borrowed German styling (from the Lexus SC Supra was designed off of), on top of the then German transmission, the MkIV Supra's suspension was straight up designed by the British, by way of Lotus, Toyota even bragged about this in magazines
Point is, in this day & age some cars take collaboration to happen, so I'm happy it exist at all. Though preferentially, knowing that Toyota in part owns Mazda, & that Mazda recently just came out with a modern inline 6, perhaps it's in the cards that the next Supra be based on a Mazda platform, styling at the least would be much more inline with the timeless looks we wish for that Mazda is still good at. Here's to hoping it happens, with fingers crossed it's not just another Supra but also one folks will be less divided on, not that it matters Supras have been selling like hotcakes regardless of the loud minority complaining online who were never going to afford one to begin with🤷🏼
I may be in the minority here, but I like the mk5
The engine was torn down and every component was evaluated to Toyota specs and tweaked to pass. That doesn’t sound like the engine was co-developed w/ Toyota engineers from the very start.
@@saulespino2510 every engine component Toyota & it's parts supplier makes or helps make is torn fully down & undergoes a battery of; material, fatigue, X-ray, & so on testing, then iterated upon,. Point is that engine did not exist in any form, even on paper until after the two companies got together so by definition yes from the very start
According to the earliest interviews the issue that creates the confusion is during development BMW didn't want to repeatedly give in to Toyota's expensive iterative demands(BMW had to pay for all R&D including Toyota's time)& so went ahead & sold the initial two overall revisions in their own products to recoup R&D, but the 3rd overall design iteration which was still Toyota's involvement from inception was the one which cleared the final requirements
In other words it was co-developed from the start but there was hostilities because from BMW's POV Toyota was running up development cost, with the two companies initially stating engine development tensions as being the reason the two likely don't see themselves working together again in the pre damage control interviews(..now for the part that the engineers haven't explicitly stated, Toyota is Mazda's parent company, & well they recently just made a 3.3L 340hp Turbo Inline-6 SUV motor, so if BMW+Toyota haven't kissed & made up beyond the PR 180 turnaround following the original interviews then perhaps the next Supra will be in part Mazda derived)
@@ChroniclesofKToyoda Thanks for the info . I stand corrected.
People fail to realize that the other generation Supras were literally built on already-existing platforms.
The MK4 A80 Supra(4th Gen) is literally a Lexus SC400/300 and the 300 already had the 2JZ series engine, while the 400 had the V8 1UZ as the "top engine choice"
Just so you know, you're supposed to drop the Supra hood, not force it latched as it will damage the latch.
Totally agree that this is the one to get but it's pretty much unobtainium with these damn dealerships.
I just picked up a Mikan Blast 2024 45th at a local dealership. I wanted the auto trans, since my MX5 Miata has a manual transmission, but the benefit to going with the auto in the Supra is that it seems to be less popular = better chance to get a good deal. (which I did get)
did yoh pay it full or how are you financing it
@skylinegtr3454 The dealership gave me a decent rate (6.09%) for a loan that was better than what my credit union offered.
The Supra is so much more of a desirable car than the new Z which looks like a block of cheese on the road.
FAKE VENTS FAKE JDM FAKE TOYOTA CAN'T HOLD A CANDLE TO THE Z IN THE LOOKS DEPT HENCE WHY Z OUTSOLD ALMOST 2-1 LAST QUATER!
Orange? On camera it is red. I will take your word for it. Sharp little sports car.
yup; if they're going to focus on color then I wish they'd color edit their footage to show the color as it looks in real life.
but if it IS this color in real life then... lol that's red
Using colour accurate 4K HDR Sony here, looks fairly red to me too, the bracing looks a little less red even though it's supposedly colour *matched
I have this car and I can tell you without a doubt that under the sun, this is definitely orange. It can look red under darker settings.
@@morganbaldwinmiller Nope. I recently went to a GR Supra meetup and parked near a red one. Anyone can quickly see the difference.
They still didn’t address the wind buffeting issue
You can fix it yourself with a $70 piece of plastic (or a bit more expensive carbon fiber). Not exactly a big deal.
@Josh-sw8pq people who don't have one or can't get one focus on every bad detail. I have a 2021 supra, 2024 trax, 2013 cmax, 2019 sti and a 1999 f150. Lmao they all buffer with windows down 😂. You're correct $70 fix, but if people think that's bad. The corvette leaks through the back window into the engine bay 😂. I'm still gonna try and buy 1 though.
I don't care about special editions if it doesn't actually increase performance to justify the price. Special edition, to me, just mean over priced. Otherwise, I'll just go buy a used one instead.
Yes and no...
Special additions often stand out - a good thing in my book.
Many new Supra owners completely ignore the break-in period restrictions (
would look awesome in purple
Yes, it would be better to see 450 units in purple than in white...
agree aged great so far and the orange is the one to get
UGLY AS HELL
I wonder if they have fixed the wind buffeting issue with the window rolled down since the car is so good this seems to be the only major complaint.
🇦🇺😎
What were really waiting for is the GRMN Supra
I feel like it’s not coming. Or if it is, what’s it gonna be, S58? Or more decals and bling like this 45th?
I see that it is being tested. Expect a $20k price increase.
I have a problem I know the Supra is a better car, but I think the new Z looks better.
I think so too. And you're getting a Nissan badged as a Nissan. The Supra is literally a BMW. Just buy the BMW.
@palebeachbum no other BMW drives like the Supra it's the best. Z is alright but are you cool with Nissan depreciation? Likely spend $60k on financing then it'll be worth $30k in 3 years. Unless you making $100k+ stick to paid off crap
@@FATmenDRIVEtruckssports car drivers tend not to care as much about resale. you buy a sports car for the experience bottom line
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so buy what you like.
SUPRA NOT BETTER THAN Z THE Z IS GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!
That orange color looks very similar to the BMW Toronto Red and wouldn’t be suprised considering half the paints offered are BMW ones on the Supra.
wow - just hearing about this version now - looks gorgeous
Surely I'm not the only person who sees that car as red on camera. I hope the color comes through better in person.
It looks red at light and under certain lighting, but on a bright sunny day, it is pure orange/tangerine. I just bought one, last Thursday.
Want one badly, but having to deal with dealer shenanigans rules it out for me.
I have the mk4 style wing on my mk5 and it over hangs the quarter panel but mounts to the deck lid and does not stop u from opening the trunk as it may look like it would.
Any word on electric Convertible?
Thanks for the info.
I used to own a 2022 CF Edition. Trade for 2023 70th anniversary HT Convertible!
My lil bro just got the car.. so sick 🤢 love it
I was waiting for start up
People fail to realize that the other generation Supras were literally built on already-existing platforms.
The MK4 A80 Supra(4th Gen) is literally a Lexus SC400/300 and the 300 already had the 2JZ series engine, while the 400 had the V8 1UZ as the "top engine choice". Plus the MK4 A80 Supra wasnt a decent selling car while in the Dealership lots
Yes, and The MK5 is smaller and better handling than the MK4.
How sad…this is all Toyota can do after 5 model years? Paint it orange, put on a tacky sticker and spoiler and collect ALL the money? Please address the basic issues that have been complained about since day one! The 9 fake vents, the super dim infotainment. The outdated infotainment. The wind buffeting. The terrible sound system. The ugly steering wheel and shift lever. The lack of an outer trunk release button. The inability to put the car in neutral with the engine turned off. These are simple fixes Toyota. Orange paint, a gaudy sticker and spoiler aren’t going to change these issues!😠
I recently rolled the windows down in my 2024 anniversary edition Supra. I didn't hear any wind buffeting up to 45 mph. And traditionally, BMW vehicles take years to get bugs out of their electronics, so Toyota wisely did not go with buggy new designs. I am surprised that my differential is leaking after 700 miles. Update: It may be due to a slight overfill condition at the factory.
Then don’t buy it. 😂 😂 why you crying. Toyota will do whatever they want
Buy a Lamborghini if you want functional vents
Where is android auto?
@@mateok15 I copy my Playlist to a USB drive and listen to it in my Supra. It's simple and effective.
OG raptor color. I wish ford had it on the standard broncos. Amazing color!
That is international orange, the same as the golden gate bridge!
Might as well get an M car at that price for the special edition
I still dont like the front-ends of these "supras".
The front clip/facia needs to chanbge (for me)
I pick mine up tomorrow morning. I paid a $2,000 market adjustment, better than a $5,000 adjustment but still sucks.
I paid $1500 ADM but it has and auto trans - perfect for me since I have a manual MX5 and like to sip on a coffee or water when I go somewhere.
YOUR AN IDIOT!LOL
Great job I want one sometime December 2024
To avoid mark ups, just buy a Z4.
Or just buy a 2020-23 that's cheaper than both.
I bought the 45th anniversary Supra with very little markup. With the "savings", I'm getting PPF and lots of it.
NO MARKUPS Z IS KILLING SUPRA SALES
i hear you finally get automatic dual zone climate control........finally
How can you have a 45th anniversary when production was cut off for more than a few years?
HOW CAN YOU HAVE A 45TH ANNIVERSARY AND NOT EVEN MAKE CAR!LOL
I think Tommy was partying in NJ last night.
I got this one and love it…flaws and all!
Great presentation! But, it was very disappointing to me that it wasn't totally Toyota. I've been a Toyota owner for many years now and I guess I'll have to rethink that process in automobile ownership.
So the GR86 is pure Toyota?
Design not bad little more long then look great they should add two seats people buy more
i hope toyota will make their own update supra engine...otherwise its just a bmw facelift of 2018
Looks like the new TRD Pro color?
Is there any badging that shows 45th Anniversary Edition on the interior? I don't see any on the exterior.
I think just the sticker that was pointed out in the video. The side sticker with Supra on it and rear wing are also unique to the 45th Supras.
at the EOD i see a Beamer. Not like GT-R.
nah, rather get the cheaper one and fix it up how i want
I really wanted the Mk5, but now that it's recommended by Tommy, I don't know if I want it anymore. 😂
I feel like TFL is attracted to unreliable cars... Jeep, Bronco, LR Defender... Sold the "long term" Tundra, though. 😂 I don't know. Still kind of considering the Supra... 🤔
!?!?MANUAL TRANS!?!
Okay, maybe I am interested now
This or the coming Z Nismo? Decisions....
Neither, but definitely not the Z. The Nismo Z is automatic only, and it's a significantly shittier automatic than the 8HP in the Supra. Nismos have never been worth the money. The performance improvement is always very, very minor compared to the price increase.
wen targa top??
It’s literally the same as 23 but a spoiler and some graphics. And orange strut braces? Not worth broski
I want one for my weekend toy
TFL ..HOME OF THE CAMERA NINJA'S 👏👏....HAVE A GOOD DAY EVERYBODY ✌️
It was all good until you daid 'fake vents'.
As always nothing new in Toyota.
While all car companies interested in the customer change some designs and add cosmetic touches from year to year, Toyota does not originally correct errors and technical defects in its modern models, but rather designs and insists on keeping them. Unfortunately, we know Toyota will change its aspects from all previous versions after thirty years, such as the whistling of the windshield, the rear trunk, and other things. Yes, Toyota is really distinguished by the best customer service and listening to their complaints!
Is the ECU locked?
Yes.
Between the Dealership Cartel and the cash grab Toyota product, I rather drive one on my PS5😂😂
HOW CAN YOU HAVE A 45TH ANNIVERSARY AND NOT EVEN MAKE CAR!LOL
69k on Toyota website, for orange paint, a sticker, and a wing? Nah, I am good.
That Supra is really nice, I love that color, great! For me, automatic, thanks. The only minus is hearing that it has a BMW engine and not only that. Anyway nowadays you can only have cars whose components come from different companies, because many companies owned different brands. I don't even know if it remained a "pure" brand. Thanks for the video.
The entire car is a BMW from top to bottom
@@IYG-x7c Who gives a shit?
It's pretty reliable regardless.
@NA0533 Toyota suspension tuning makes this a superior-handling car compared to the BMW Z4.
"If" you can get one lol. What do we think these are gonna run for? 80k xD.
I picked up my 45th anniversary. edition for $68k + taxes and fees.
People these days have no problem buying pieces of S, that's why they keep making them
Definitely not. There's almost nothing special about it compared to the standard model.
The forged matte-black wheels, special paint color, unique rear wing, and side graphics make for only 1 of 450 cars with this combination.
No thanks. for 10k more I want something other than a paint scheme that should have been a factory option from the start and a spoiler. Where’s the Targa?
I’m getting mine for the same price as a GR
This guy said he can’t think of another car with the same tone of color but it looks like a Ferrari red.
...or any other special edition Toyota. The same exact color already appears on the GR86 and the Tundra.
Not under full sun; that's when it looks orange. I just bought one, two weeks ago.
Ordered mine, $20k markup on it
I’m getting it for $65k. Put my deposit down and told it’s ready to go two weeks
Its still a BMW
Hey Toyota, why don’t you stuff this engine with six speed manual into a Tacoma so we can stop whining about that torque-less V6?!
I will not purchase a Toyota that is like 90% BMW, I will be very very interested once they start putting the 2JZ back in that car it's the engine that made that car very famous
This car is smaller and better handling than the MK4 Supra, and the B58 is more modern and lighter than the 2JZ.
@@justsomerandomguymanAnd the smog emissions are much less with the B58.
It's the Designed by a 12 Year-Old Boy edition!
I do like the color though.
$80000 is a no
I would rather buy a BMW M240i, faster and classier and less expensive.
This is a little too fast and too furious for me.
Beautiful BMW
Orange paint adds 30 horsepower 😮
Toyota acting like BMW to with all these special edition every time you turn around it's going to be a lot of them if they do like they been doing don't redesign for 15 years smh
I mean. Look at what toyo does with trd. This isn't too surprising of them to do.
With only 900 available,,,why even talk about it? It will be sold to the clients that already have a reputation with their Toyota dealers. A guy like me that can afford one has no chance because I don’t normally buy Toyota products. I spoke with the local dealership and this is basically what they confirmed. They have tried to get special models and it just doesn’t happen. It’s not even enough versions to even allot one per dealership.
Nice enough cars, but completely pointless.
Not true. I had never bought a Toyota before, but a local dealership was more than happy to sell me a Mikan Blast 2024 GR Supra. This is not a Ferrari.
@@davepaturno4290 - Then buy it. They couldn’t even get one here!
@@shitloveaduck I did, on 11/2023.
DUDE THESE AIN'T SELLING WORTH A DAMN THE Z KILLED SUPRA SALES
@@davepaturno4290 - That’s awesome!! I wound up buying a Nissan Z! Turns out the other comment by Sire 638 is more accurate than thought! Hahaha.
The Toyota dealership here never did get one. The first guy on the list is an acquaintance of mine and he just gave up last month and bought a regular ole ordinary Supra! Heh heh. We have compared cars and it’s kinda like you get what you pay for. It’s easy to tell the Z is a rehashed 370Z, but more, of course. As far as driving one vs the other, they are closer than I thought. The Nissan seats though,,,, sooo nice!! That’s what makes me feel the Z is better. I have a really bad back and the seating is everything!!
Why was supra so popular in the 80s 90s because it was a mainstream car with big power. This new supra is not exciting to me: GR86 is much better even though it’s a Subaru. It would be nice if Toyota brought back the Celica
Except, the 90's part isn't exactly rosy for the A80 model.
Spoiler: the A80 was initally hated.
The new Supra demolishes the GR86 on the track. The power advantage means 0-60 in 3.8 seconds for the Supra and 5.4 for the GR86.
Another Supra made by BMW what a shame 😪
I’ll wait until TOYOTA starts making SUPRA
I am so glad Toyota has brought back the Supra, yet I am also upset that they have brought back the Supra with so many hit and miss renditions. There are so many missed opportunities Toyota! The usage of the same old tired little flimsy limited plate is pathetic. This supposed to be a grand celebration of 45th years, yet we're using the same paper plates from Bob's office birthday party from 3 years ago!? How do you say give ma break in Japanese?! Yes, you gave it a unique color (Mikan Blast) to designate it as something special, then Toyota turns around and offer the same 45th in absolute zero? Is it special or not? Make up your mind for goodness sake! I loved my MKIV TT, sure this MKV can perform some things better ( you took a long enough back, it better!), but quite honestly, it's not of JDM Blood! We all will settle for this car, because it's all we can get. There are even MKV owners selling to go buy MKIV TT Cars as I type! Yes, I'm venting! And yes, I will be buying one and building it the way it should of come in the first place! Toyota, get back in the game the right way and stop worrying about money! NIssan built a GTR...Now go build a SUPRA! Oh and the CF Owners are still looking for the rest of their carbon aero bits!
You forgot Acura's NSX, but dang, those are so expensive. I was considering a 2017 - 2019 but then looked at the loan payments.😢
Pretty good-looking car, but if I wanted a car engineered by BMW I'd rather just have the BMW. It would be a lot more appealing if it was engineered by Toyota and skinned to look like a BMW.
The Supra looks SOOO much more aggressive than any BMW.
Also, which Toyota engine of that size matches it in power?
The closest one LC500 V8 would be too large.
This guy is discount Doug demuro

Yeah right. Who has 60k just lying around these days? 🤣
Retired people or engineers
This car was such a huge disappointment ! Not this particular one but the whole rebirth. They started with such an awesome super sports car and after auctioning it off they gave the world this uninspired castrated version.
Looks are always subjective. But it’s performance can’t be ignored. Quick car that handles well. It’s the name that’s got your panties in a bunch.
OK if the supra was sold as a super like ur wanting it 2 b. Then everyone including u would complain that it's too expensive and would end up like the NSX. For performance, this car is a great value for a little under 60k. Completely disagree with u bro.
@TheJovan21 and your welcome to. We are talking opinions and perspective. I just wish companies wouldn't show us AWESOME and give us plain. I understand that the new supra has gotten better each year with power and performance still NOT worth 60k...maybe..I don't know that much about the latest ones.
I was really disappointed by the Subaru BRZ as well although it also has gotten better and is less expensive and has a rear seat.
I think this supra is ugly but don't disparage others for liking it. I never really liked any of the supras. Japanese cars never really spoke to me in general although I LOVE my GT-R which has a beck seat. That's a sticking point for me. I'm really interested in the new Roma. I'm glad you like it and hope you can get one if you want.
@@jacobfoster9185 your GTR is also what 15 years old ? And what car can you name me in this day I’m age that’s not expensive ? Every god damn thing is expensive.
When the last generation Supra came out, it wasn't such an awesome sports car at first. They had a bulletproof engine tranny combo, that earned its name very quick and held it over the following decades. This new Supra is 100'x better than the previous generation in handling, power delivery, and structural rigidity. The previous generation can't compare. I'm a lover of the 90s imports including the previous-gen Supra, but everyone has to realize that we sport car enthusiasts are only 0.001% of their sales....and it doesn't make sense to produce so many sports cars for such a niche market.
The previous Supra front-end headlights, wheels, wheel gap, etc. also didn't look aggressive at all. This new one is a bit unusual-shaped but looks very aggressive with certain mods.
In the end, at least Toyota found a way to offer us the GR line with the Supra, GR86, and GR Corolla when ICE are said to be on their way out.
👍👍👍
It's a rebadged BMW Z3.. Nothing Toyota about it..
If the "Supra"'s a rebadge Z3, the driving characteristics would have been very different.
The front of those cars are so ugly. At least all the other supra's are good looking. This one is just .....
All the recycled plastic bottles used in this thing is epic 😂..As with every BMW..ITS A MONEY PIT..its going to be all in the shop twice a month..
Nope. Supras have been very reliable, partially because the generation of electronics, engine, and transmission are well-proven.
GARBAGE CAR, TOO MUCH PLASTIC UNDER THE HOOD ALL BMW, LEAKS GALORE WHEN WARRANTY EXPIRES....
It’s a bmw 👎🏻
Toyota supra is BMW Z4 ... produced and designed by BMW ... Pure badge engineering ...
Aren’t you a smart boy!
Not sure why this is a bad thing? That engine is one of the best inline 6's ever made and responds to tuning so well. Toyota has stated that if they had not collaborated with BMW on this vehicle, and designed one themselves in-house, then the Supra would have cost over $150,000. And you know what? You bullshit "enthusiasts" would be crying foul. Good on Toyota for doing the right thing for consumers and going with this absolutely legendary platform for the Supra. You fanboys playing Forza and tarting up your imaginary Supra's can go pound sand.
Ok…still a great car
@@KillaRock404 There is no point to buy badged BMW from Toyota ... it shows that Toyota can`t make inline six engine which even much smaller Mazda does (first car CX-90, but i doubt it will exclusive to the model in future due to production economics reasons), not mention even inline 6 turbo diesel for EU, but also lack of care and respect for their customers ... Their technician has no clue how to properly maintain BMW ... Yes modern BMW inline six are as reliable as Toyota and even better than Honda ... but it require specialist who know when and what to replace to avoid problems (it is more than oil/engine air filter) ... and consider that this will be exclusive to this badged engendered Toyota it will be issues with specialists ... (luck of them) Remember BMW put a lot of the same components in lot of cars with different body styles which make for their specialist easy to maintain different looking and purpose fleet of models....
And yet, its a great sports car
