  • Walden tools were ok but not snap-on quality, they were mid grade mechanics tools sold until the late 1980's. The pearhead is not as good as the round head but the round head does not always work consistently just because of a sliding pawl design that get's stuck with a small amount of grit.

These are my favorite reviews, old tools that you'll find at flea markets, yard sales, and pawn shops.

yeah i would sometimes find tools at construction site lost and found. our company would give contractors a week to collect their tool. after that it was ours to keep.

Nice knurling on those! Hope you have luck getting the pear head back together!

Show us the repair, clean and reassemble of the pair head. Want to see how it functions after some TLC.

Steven Walden Tools were mostly made for industrial use. I have a set of 3/4 drive impact sockets. They are brutally strong!!! Some of there very early designs and patents revolutionized the early tool industry. 😎

I've got the 1/2" roundhead and it's the stiffest spring ratchet I've ever handled.
One of the tallest head profiles I've seen either.

I bought a nice Williams S- 53A round head 15" ratchet for ~$50.... has a fine knurled handle... really great ratchet... brand new, not a vintage ratchet......

The screws in the pear head ratchet weren't original. They would have been a tapered head screw that would have been flush with the head of the ratchet.

C'mon, the only reason these and similar companies went out of business was advertising, period.

Actually I think OTC end up buying Walden at some point in the 50s or 60s
