Circumscribe a regular Hexagon around a Circle (Simple and easy method)

  • This video provides a very easy way to circumscribe a regular hexagon around a circle of any given radius. This geometrical construction will be very helpful in drawing hexagonal nut and bolt drawings. Hexagonal shape is used in many engineering applications such as buildings, beams, bars etc.

    If the diameter of the circle is 14, what would each side of the hexagon measure. Would it be 7? (1/2 of the diameter, or the radius?)

    If you add up the sides of the hexagon in other words find the perimeter of the hexagon, that is also approximately the circumference of the circle that with the same radius as the length of one of the sides of the hexagon.
