Well, I've been using gas TM's since the late 90's and you definitely aren't lying. I did use an electric TM for a few years back in the 90's. It could go 150 ft., but my usual hose run was less than 125 with 100 ft. being enough for almost any home and many small businesses. It is STILL basically the same in 2024 all these years later. I can count on one hand the times I've needed a little over 200 ft all the way back to 1987 when I started. If I could have had a better vacuum, heat, and some other things that were not available back then I might not ever have gone to gas-powered for carpet cleaning. My first gas TM was a major lemon that broke down literally the first day I owned it, no joke, and that was just the beginning of problems with that machine. Believe me, I wasn't laughing. My current Hydramaster TM has been pretty reliable overall, but it is broken down now because of a plugged-up heat exchange which I cannot service myself. The entire machine has to be pulled out and the heat exchanger removed to service it. I've had several such events in just the past few years spending thousands of dollars in repairs to keep it going. Currently, charges just for service hours is about 100 an hour if they haven't already gone up again. Part for any name brand TM are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE often costing easily 3 to 4 times what they should cost. This machine with a 23 hp engine and a Tuthill blower really is only effective at about 200 ft and will struggle at 250 ft. I use the Sharp Shooter wand which is essentially the same as that Evolution and you have and use two 11005 jets and I use a Rotovac XL. I can clean just about any carpet with it and certainly no problem with upholstery. Performance on Tile & grout could definitely be better, but I typically clean tile at about 700 psi up to occasional 1,000 psi. Btw, since my heater core is clogged I have to wait until Jan 12th to get it for service and as I said, I cannot fix this myself no way.
Hi Tim, I appreciate your knowledge & demo on the Vortex Lite.. I'm glad that it is still working well for you! Unfortunately my case is quite the opposite... Not long after using mine ( I bought it brand new.) It started tripping breakers in a commercial building I was working in.. I was working off all the proper power circuits... Come to find out after some trouble shooting, the pump motor was defected and wired incorrectly from the factory, at this point I could no longer use the machine.. It was still under warranty, but I had to send my pump motor out first before, MYTEE would ship me the new one. The machine was down for 2 weeks total, plus I had to eat the shipping costs both ways. Shortly after putting it all back together, it started burning out vacuum motor switches. Cost me one new switch, worked for a little bit then burnt out again... This time Magic Wand sent me a different style switch it seemed to fix the problem. Until now a third problem one of vacuum motors no longer works, just happened yesterday.. For a machine I basically use part time, and well taken care of, never abused and (once again bought it brand new).. From my experience I'm fed up and I'm not impressed.. I could see if I bought a used machine these things are to be expected, but I purposely bought new to avoid this...
Hey did you get things sorted on your Vortex? One of the issues mine had was the shutoff switch was faulty so the magnet inside of switch would always stick, as a result vac motors were never going to start(shutoff feature) On the newer units Mytee has rectified this by using a copper T setup. I have this on my 2023 AirHog and has 200hrs so far without issue I am getting a replacement shutoff switch assembly for Vortex...
Looking good. I would have used an encap product with a 17" rotary on all those carpet tiles. They look so clean and would have looked great with a good encap. Well done with the HWE.
