I _just_ woke up. It hasn't even been a _year_ since the Genos 2 became an official thing yet, and here Yamaha goes hitting us with new SX keyboards like it's going out of fashion! And I'm all for it! I'm wondering if a new DGX keyboard will be dropped, to act as a successor to the DGX-670; complete with Super Articulation 2 voices, multipads, and if I may be a bit bold... A VRM version of the Character Grand.

I think they have used their new DAC and ADC convertor chips to process audio which were used in their Montage M. Coz they brought it down to Genos 2 and may be they brought those components down to this as well. Coz, I'm hearing very quality sound which I couldn't find with any of previous PSR range keyboards. Only missing thing is the FM engine.

Hi. By the way, about that Joystick. There is a Joystick Hold button. Ok, it is not an analog thing, what is release the sprigs, or somthing, but u can use it to hold a position. If you tap that button than your joystick position kept on until u are not releasing it. SX600 has 2 wheels for that, but it is also hard to use both at the same time. This is why I prefer this joystick with that hold button. Or u can also use for it an expression pedal.

Great video as always Leigh. Youre so right about the Bl***y joystick. I hate it on my SX900 and really miss the seperate pitch and mod wheels my older PSR had. It makes controlling the rotary in organ voices horrible by comparison. At least with the mod wheel you had high speed, low speed and brake control, now I have to use my M-Audio controller to do this. YAMAHA I hope your listening, could be an idea to have the joystick and a mod wheel alongside it.

Hey Leigh, great video as usual. Indonesian band called thee Marloes, give them a listen. Try using the zither polka for a fun version of the look of love by ABC. You can use the fill break as a stop.
My SX920 is coming in 2 to 3 weeks. Going to retire my PSR-S950 keyboard and use it to convert styles from the newer Yamaha keyboard to use in the older models.

@@korshm i do hope that the USB audio interface feature will be enable through firmware update. Their CLP lineup has this feature enable using this method. It does not make sense if SX600 and Genos 2 has it but not on the 720 and 920. What a deal breaker

How do the sx920 drums compare to the Genos 2? I’m a fan of ‘small room’ subtle sounding drums and no or only a little reverb…so the ambient control on Genos 2 appealed to me. I see sx920 has dynamic control on drums…anyways how close are the drums to Genos? Trying to figure out if the drums on a Genos 2 are worth thousands of dollars more than a sx920

That sounds good, much better than the 900. I'm fortunate to have one of the first two Genos 2 which were brought to South Africa. After six attempts I'm not successful to become a patreon member of the Genos club. Are we on the Southern tip of Africa excluded from this club
I just bought a new PSR SX900 a couple of months ago, and now this comes out. Terrible timing. Is there a way to purchase the Genos 1 voices of the 920 and be used on the 700/900 series? And will they sound the same as on the 720/920? Thanks for any information on this. Michael

@@LeighWilbraham Let me explain better: If I take a preset style from GENOS, save it into a USB stick and then load it into the SX900, what happens is that all style voices have no insert DSPs . I'm wondering what happens on SX920. Losing the DSPs for each voice changes a lot the final sound result.
I am curious about the keyboard. I own the sx-900 (and a GenosII) but the one thing i am not thrilled about is the keybed. It feels not that stable while playing. I also own a ck-61 that has on paper the same FSB keyboard but it plays much better. So what's your idea about the FSB keybed on the SX 920?

Nice, But in my view, and to my ear, below the standard of the Genos 2. I do appreciate that you are comparing the new SX920 to the SX900, But the Genos 2 wins for me, even if affordability is beyond me, I couldn't compromise.
And again here - the sound is absolutely utterly terribly plastic and just unpleasant to the ear. Perhaps there is something wrong with my sense of sound spectrum but it just really feels superficial, just cheap plastic toy comparing to roland or korg.
I have been seriously looking to upgrade from my Roland E-09 to use for playback and recording my original songs with the Yamaha PSR SX 900 then this came along. I use The antiquated "Musictime" MIDI program which allows playback from my computer to the keyboard. This 920 seems like a better choice. I am wondering on how these Yamaha strangers would interact with Musictime?
@@LeighWilbraham"Musictime" is an old program that I first purchased in the early 1990's so I could edit my music and play it back in real time prior to copyrighting the song. I have all my songs created on "Musictime". Yes, it is old, but so am I and I would never have the time to do all that work again! I just want to have a keyboard to provide back up for my songs when I record them. I think this instrument may be the right choice.

When you play a style it leads you to a song or melody that you hear in your head.

The 720 is so much better than the Medelli.
How does this compare to the Genos 2? Is this a lesser, less expensive option? Is that why it's made? What does this do differently from the genos 2?

I am curious about the keyboard. I own the sx-900 (and a GenosII) but the one thing i am not thrilled about is the keybed. It feels not that stable while playing. If you started your hobby with Roland sinces 1990s you will never use Yamaha ...
Roland G800 G1000 - both great instruments and Roland haven’t made anything decent since!! in fact their arranger offering is zero.
