I just took the plunge and purchased the 702 for my Tuareg. I used your link so hopefully you get some credit. I've been on the fence about purchasing one, but your video calmed my fears. Ride on!
I have the original W702 and finished the TAT with it last week. I love the unit, software-wise it worked flawlessly for the whole trip and is exactly what I was looking for (especially for the price). Two things that did not work out completely, though: out East, with the heat and the humidity, if I was charging a phone while using it for navigation, it would tend to overheat. I solved that by using my backup phone as well and swapping between phones to broadcast to the Carpuride (I would make sure that the phone being charged was not doing the navigating). This is only relevant in temperatures over 90 degrees and while using the unit for long hours, like on my trip, and not a Carpuride issue. The second issue I encountered was a failure of the back plate due to hours of riding on washboards. I have a custom printed clamp, similar to what comes with the Pro version, and I suppose that this transferred too much force into that back plate and caused it to fail. The 4 little screws screw into threads that are molded/embedded into a plastic plate. That plastic plate is what ended up failing on my unit, on each of the threads. So I will have to build a reinforcing brace if I plan on using it on hard trails again (did not fail on the rocky Colorado passes, just washboards). Zip ties worked great for the rest of the trip, so I know a little reinforcement is all that's needed. Good news is that the little screws and that lone center screw seem to be strong enough for the task, though. Washboards gave a very violent shake at times when hitting the right frequency, so I'm not all that surprised since that unit has been designed for on-road use primarily. Just a PSA!
I just ordered mine with your code. I was on the fence between this and the DMD2 tablet but the price was just too good to pass up with the code. Thanks man.
been on the fence about these...bought a zumo xt a few years ago but it's complicated to use it more than just getting home. LOL! For me, I know a lot of guys have figured out base camp but I'm good...the only thing about the carpuride is some of the mapping apps I use to create routes dont translate to carplay...if it did I'd change asap and sell my zumo. I dont know much about guia. You mentioned its good for off road, but if it can be used for on-road mapping then the zumo is hitting FB market place this winter. 🙂 LOL! Thanks for posting!
@@AdventureTomek Hello, Pro is an upgraded version. In addition to the size difference, the PRO version also adds functions such as light sensing, intercom, compass and barometer.
You would have to compare the 2 on the website. I can tell visually the screen is better, but just by playing around with both the performance is very similar

Great video Tomek. They seem to have an appealing product. Cheers mate.
Thanks for watching!

Hey Tomek, been watching your videos lately. Are you selling your old unit by chance? I live in CO and would definitely be interested
It’s spoken for @weaponartist, thanks for watching!
So what’s the difference between 502 and the new 702 pro? Is there a difference in software or is it just size and mounting ? Thx

Hello, PRO is the upgraded version. It adds light sensor, intercom, compass and barometer functions to the basic model.
Intercom ? Where can I find out more info about the intercom function? Thx for the reply
Any idea if it works with the dmd2 app?
I don’t believe so, try and reach out to Carpuride
