    In May 2013, a recall was issued for E46 3-Series sedans that were manufactured between December 2001 and March 2003. In these vehicles, the front passenger air bag inflator may have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers.

      I’m going to try and get my air bag replaced in this steering wheel I have. I hope they will.

      @@TenzaMotorsports they said to me they replace the airbag for free only if it is the original airbag that came with the car, so need to be free of accidents atleast front ones

    Once I went to get it replaced the airbag light will not go off and they refuse to believe they caused it. It’s driving me nuts

    Great video man. Imagine how much money the company has spent on these stupid mailers that are suppose to impress you and get your attention with things like blue dice and statements like "Don't gamble with your life" or "You have been warned". It is insulting. BMW is worried about three things, its bottom line, law suits and its reputation. The company can pretty much go F**K itself. I have had 2 BMWs, an early 90s 318 and my current 2005 330ci with only 60k miles. It is basically a big baby, always needing something. BMW quality has never been great, but foolishly we (or at least I) bought my cars for the German engineering. Apparently there is quite a bit of Asian in the 330 also which is usually good, but I also paid for what I thought was high quality German tech. I doubt after this air bag debacle, and the list of other stupid things that no one should have to put up with, I will ever own another BMW vehicle. I have an old Toyota truck with now 320k miles and it has complained extremely little compared to my car. Germany needs to pull their shit together when it comes to quality. Spend more time on that and less on gimmickry nonsense and pop up mailers for airbags.

    BMW tech here. Soooooo many cars are still driving around that have not gotten their recalls. Its a major liability for BMW. Recently we had a recall event for two days where basically all we did was replace airbags and do some other e9x recalls. Anyways thats why they are bugging you to hell and back.

      If I take in this car with a steering wheel from an M3. Will they replace it? I got one from the junkyard for $30. Or do they need to have matching numbers? I have two old steering wheels with original bags.

    There has been another lawsuit due to airbag injury/fatality because a airbag was not changed due to recall. BMW showed how many letters, calls, messages, & cost to get this done.

      Makes sense. Pretty crazy still. That’s a lot of money

    This was a pretty cool video. I love law and I love trying to disect odd situations like this. The first question i ask is who benefits the most from a situation like this? It always costs money, and no one does anything for free.
    Here's what I've concluded. As part of the lawsuit verdict, Takata had to pay a set amount dedicated to the 'campaign outreach'. What that means is there's a budget specifically allocated to notifying those consumers listed in the filing. So at least one company is profiting off this outreach campaign. So every letter they send out, they get paid for it. I would bet more than one company has been selected to send out these letters/pamphlets.
    Why are you getting so many still? Because there's still money in the account. Once the money runs out, the letters will cease immediately.
    As for you still being the mailing list, I'm not sure what you reported yet in the other video you made, you might need to go visit a dealership with an airbag that has been updated.
    There's a number on the back of each airbag. That number will show if the airbag is part of the batch that is defective.
    I own 3 E46s. The first is a 2001 325ci thst I bought new. The other two are 2004 ZHPs. My 2001 only needed the passenger front airbag replaced. The driver's side wasn't affected. I was hoping it would be replaced since its so old though. Lol My ZHPs had both driver and passenger side airbags replaced. Once the dealership physically noted they inspected each of my cars, the letters stopped.
    Give that a try! Take your VIN for each car and a replaced airbag with you to the dealership and speak to them.
    If you need airbag serial #, let me know. I can send you the ones of the airbags I had replaced.

      I appreciate the comment. So the only actions I've done is tell them the car no longer has air bags. Ive emailed pictures as proof. I didn’t have an air bag for them to replace. But I have recently stumbled onto 2 M3 steering wheels. I'm going to try and see if I can use those as the replacement certification my car needs.

    • @andydhillon1977
      @andydhillon1977 Год назад

      @Tenza Motorsports No problem.
      You don't need to include steering wheels. They have nothing to do with the airbag campaign. There's a serial number on each airbag that they need.
      You will want to schedule a service appointment using the VIN of each car that's affected. Then take in the title/registration and a new airbag.
      I did that with one of my 2004s. I didn't even take the car in. BMW doesn't care. They are only interested in charging for the airbag replacement/inspection. That's why you need to schedule an appointment. That's the proof they use to bill Takata. No one other than the dealership cares to take you off the list. They actually want the most number of people on the list so they can keep charging the account each time they mail you.

    Can't you put one of those airbag wheels on your car, get it changed, switch wheels and then you have an uodated airbag wheel(to sell or keep)

    I have a 2004 325 CI BMW convertible that’s rebuilt and the one airbag in my seat is not working right so none of my airbags are working at all because the airbag light isn’t on I’m like a race car driver and I love driving fast but my car has 1000 problems and I am so nervous driving without airbagsI took it to Bmw, but they said they were already replaced so they couldn’t fix the one that’s not working in the seat

      Your air bags should be functional still, even with the light on. I remember reading about it and the light just means the car lost communication to the modules. But who am I to say if a woman has functional air bags or not 😉 I’m just a guy.

  • @ViliRagnarok

    Just take it to a dealer, by polite, and tell them to change the air bag. They will of course realize it's a race car. Then tell them to submit that it was done.

    • @TenzaMotorsports
      @TenzaMotorsports  Год назад

      They aren’t able to submit that it was done. Because it wasn’t done. They can’t say they changed an air bag if they didn’t. I already talked to my local dealer about it.

    I am a single owner E46 330Ci since 2001, you have no idea how many those recall letters I received, lol. The funny part of all that is even if I want it replaced, there isn't any available.
