Thank you for this. I'm hoping to spend 3 weeks travelling with my learning disabled daughter (16 but a toddler in her head) in North Island next year. Not campervan but hostel/ motel and hire a car. This is the first vid I've seen of someone travelling with a child.
@@DylanBrayshaw wow that was a quick reply ! Thank you, I think my daughter could tolerate longer drives but decided motels easier as she's still in nappies needs regular meds etc. It was just very helpful seeing someone travelling with kids. Im planning on going to NZ for my 50th as I was born there then folks came back to UK when I was 2 so I have no memory of it. I'm a little nervous about long flight with my daughter and the fact it's just me and her (I'm widowed),despite backpacking around South America alone in my late 20's pre kids lol,but also think you only live once!!Bring it on !! Thanks for a very helpful video in terms of travelling with children
thanks so much for this! i am only starting my planning, if you could share the costs, tips and tricks or general driving guidelines - would be much appreciated
Hard to remember the costs, prices have probably gone up now, the van was about $200 nzd per day and then try camp at a camp ground to charge for one night and then freedom camp off the grid for 2 nights can work well.
nice but you could've checked out some other spots. I really enjoyed a few of the spots you were as well but would really advise on a next trip: piha, cape reinga at the free camping with a stop at paihia or waipou forest and visit the sand dunes, or down south wellington, mt taranki, new plymouth
Next trip you should hit up Taranaki, Northland and Gisborne for the best surf in the North Island. Shame that you missed that really good east swell we got on the east coast last week - the Coromandel really lights up in east swells. Be careful in Kawhia, you might get shot at by the locals for swimming, surfing, hunting or fishing. They don't really like outsiders. Stick to the Coromandel. Also there's another hot water beach in Lake Tarawera.
Yeah wow didn’t know that about the locals there, beautiful part of the world. Definitely want to hit up more surf breaks next time. Yeah I’ve seen some photos from the east swell, looks amazing.
@@DylanBrayshaw All good mate. Yeah a few months ago there was an incident where some out-of-town surfers were tow surfing at Kawhia and were shot at by locals who were on land with rifles. Thankfully no one was injured but this has been happening for at least 25 years. Pretty dumb and dangerous but that's just the way it is down there.
Great trip. About to go on our first camper trip as a four person family. Great Hahei, orca and swimmer footage. I just saw orca today in Mangawhai 10/9/22. Wonder if places you stayed in are more expensive still in the school holidays?
We went End of novemebter and December, it was a bit rainy this time of year. We had like one full day stuck on the van because it was rainy and windy.
Great video! I'm going to NZ november 11th until december 10th, I think a little bit around the time you guys went last year. What was the weather like when you were there? Warm and sunny so I can wear short clothes or a little bit colder? Would like to hear from you!!
Yeah I surf but now mostly take surf photos, see my other video on Raglan . It was a weekday I think when I surfed it, wasn’t too crowded, but I heard it can get very crowded.
hi, was just wondering could you tell me the names of the Maori owned business. Im planning on going next year and would love to support locals. So if you know place i would love to know. thanks :)

NZ is the best. I spent 3 months on South Island in a motor home and it was true freedom.
Utilizing the map was super helpful! So glad for the tip about an alternate hot water beach as well.
From the U.K. and it’s been 10yrs since our 6month trip to NZ.
It was Pre kids and I ache with nostalgia every time a watch a NZ travel vid.

Perfectly prepared video. Very informative.
Thank you!🌻I feel like planning where to go is so time consuming so this helped me a lot! I appreciate that you pointed and drew on a map too
Loving The Travel Videos! Especially the drone shots in this one were great

Glad it helped, yes we found we could drive about 2 hours with our child before it was enough, or for as long as he slept.

Yeah that’s about the same time, it was warm, so yeah shorts some day’s. The weather was very rainy that time of year, sunshine then rain.
You have beaufitul videos, should get much more views.
Great video! Do you surf? Was the surf at raglan crowded? Was it a weekend or weekday? Cheers!
Yeah I surf but now mostly take surf photos, see my other video on Raglan . It was a weekday I think when I surfed it, wasn’t too crowded, but I heard it can get very crowded.
Dylan, the performance in Rotorua, was that free ?
Could you share the fee that you paid for the places you visited ?
Thank You
the camp spot in the "car Park" was free, the camping ground on the first night was about $50 per night i think.
Bro, thank you for supporting( Awhi) your stay in Rotorua, Go the local Maori owned business, the Govt doesn't need the money.
hi, was just wondering could you tell me the names of the Maori owned business. Im planning on going next year and would love to support locals. So if you know place i would love to know. thanks :)
