I don't think the Law degree would have helped her because she said she had no interest in the profession. But the issue here is multifaceted. First, the father is very controlling of the daughter's wishes and her future, to a point he demands she pursues a career of his liking, regardless of the daughter's interest. Some parents adopt such behaviour for whatever reason, but it sometimes backfires, like is the case here. The daughter dropped out. And the only mistake the boyfriend did, was to sire a child with the her without ever meeting her folks. Obviously the father has a right to be upset for the daughter choosing to drop out of school, but it is unfair to only blame the boyfriend, especialy when it has been established that she dropped out way before she met him. To me, the daughter holds the key for all parties involved reconciling. But evidently she's comfortable being insensitive. She should be adult enough to confess to her father that she had dropped out of school long time back and she had no plans of pursuing the Law degree anyway.The father might cool his anger towards the boyfriend a little. But she has let the father run with the narrative that the boyfriend caused all this. It is almost as if she is sacrificing the boyfriend's peace for her cowardice in confronting the father.

I don't think the Law degree would have helped her because she said she had no interest in the profession. But the issue here is multifaceted. First, the father is very controlling of the daughter's wishes and her future, to a point he demands she pursues a career of his liking, regardless of the daughter's interest. Some parents adopt such behaviour for whatever reason, but it sometimes backfires, like is the case here. The daughter dropped out. And the only mistake the boyfriend did, was to sire a child with the her without ever meeting her folks. Obviously the father has a right to be upset for the daughter choosing to drop out of school, but it is unfair to only blame the boyfriend, especialy when it has been established that she dropped out way before she met him.
To me, the daughter holds the key for all parties involved reconciling. But evidently she's comfortable being insensitive. She should be adult enough to confess to her father that she had dropped out of school long time back and she had no plans of pursuing the Law degree anyway.The father might cool his anger towards the boyfriend a little. But she has let the father run with the narrative that the boyfriend caused all this. It is almost as if she is sacrificing the boyfriend's peace for her cowardice in confronting the father.

This is the problem with most kenyan police officers. They think they are above the law instead of law reinforcement agencies. Ignorance in this DCI is beyond limits. His actions risk not only the boy child life but also developing depression to his own daughter. If not managed, she might end up committing suicide. If this boy decides to part ways with the girl, she will end up killing herself. This guy DCI needs counseling and anger management skills. I wonder how he is working with mwananchi. His boss needs to be informed of the threats he is issuing. Parents be advised you can not choose spouses for your children.
