  • In this Microsoft Access tutorial I am going to teach you how to protect your database by creating an "execute only" ACCDE file. We will talk about what an ACCDE file is, why you would want to create one, how to create one, what to do if you get errors while creating one, and some additional tips for Access consultants and buyers of Access databases. Plus we'll discuss decompiling or reverse engineering your ACCDE file back into an editable database.

I already love this, before I even watched it until the end .. In my case, I created VBA code that creates everything, tables, select queries, etc... I only did not find any command to create my forms via VBA ..

It's great that you are on RUclips, it is so useful and Helpful.
I tried to encript the Access DB as you tell in this video, but when you go under File -> Options you can change the settings so that everything is visible again. Is there a possibility to dishabilitate the Options?

Yes your end users will be able to see the objects but they won't be able to get into design view and yes there are ways with some programming to lock all that down so they can't even do the objects but again Access isn't 100% secure

@@599CD. I hoped I could hide the options too. But nevertheless Access is a great tool and your videos are great too. Thank you so much for your answer.

Great vid, but I have a question. Do you have any references comparing .accdr vs .accde? (I watched your runtime video too) I think I’ve read on Mike wolfes site that he distributes his front ends in runtime mode, so I’m a little confused on when to use what. Apologies if I am mistaken.
Thank you for all the amazing content!

Are there any situations where an accde will error and an accdb won’t? I’m experiencing this and not sure why, but I think it might be related to a vba function called from a query.
