I love gousto and have been doing it for months, I started doing it as I suffer from a chronic condition that affects my ability to plan meals and this has been a game changer. The ingredients r so fresh and the recipe cards r very easy to follow. When it arrives I check off all ingredients and separate it all into bags with recipe name on them and then pop them into the fridge.
We've been doing Gousto since Jan 2020. We have been so impressed, I think it's worth trying it for a month to try more different meals. We just do the box for just 2 of us and it's the variety that I like and not having to think about what to cook every week.
U love gousto I'm OBSESSED with cooking now, I always always someone who hated trying new foods and flavours but gousto for me has made cooking fun and has really impressed my friends and family who knew me for basic cooking before. Its expensive though, wish it was like £20 a week. My son has also been loving having different meals each week.
These boxes are just a gimmick I think, I love cooking and a lot of the stuff are staples in my pantry, tomato purée, spices, etc etc, I guess they do teach people who are not confident to cook better. Full price would be very expensive. Keep the recipe cards and use them again, I bet you could make them much cheaper. Good honest review xx
I’ve been having these boxes for well over a year now, love them! I HATE food shopping I never do a food shop just get bits as and when so I really do save loads of money, I have an almost 7 year old and I work part time so for me its the convenience of them plus I HATE meal planning and having to buy big jars of stuff that I may only ever use 1 spoonful of. These boxes do all that work for you to save messing about looking for all the ingredients you need.I have no food waste with these plus I don’t over eat as perfect portion sizes! Plus I then have more time to do things I want to do rather than sitting online food shopping or walking around stores which I hate! The boxes were a god send in lockdown too! I just bloody love them lol :) Not for everyone though but I do save money with these!
i agree with you but for a one off thing i think it’s really good as it encourages people to cook food where they usually wouldn’t, plus, less food waste! but i think its not something that should be replacing food shopping, plus new recipes!

I'm trying next week. I've had hello fresh before but didn't find much variety. I just love how its all in the box ready, I always forget to get stuff when I go shopping haha. Cottage pie looked lovely xx
We have been using Gousto for 6 months now and love it. We use some of our favourite recipes ourselves on non Gousto days. The pasta dishes are awesome, if you use them again I’m happy to recommend. We find it takes the stress out of family meals during the week. Glad you liked it mostly. 🥰 (we have to leave the chilli out of most recipes)
Hi Em, I really enjoyed this today. One company you should try is Simply Cook as they give you the spice pots and you add the fresh meat or fish. There's lots of recipe choices and I've tried loads and never been disappointed. There are discounts on the first box and you can order every week or adjust to suit you. I did notice Asda has a few of the recipes packs instore. Well worth a look x
Thanks for the review. I kept thinking about trying one of these boxes but with 2 fussy teenagers I was worried about waste and expense so have not bothered. I’m relying on takeaways to give me a break from cooking!
Hi Em! You need to invest in a potato peeler as well - you peeled so much off when peeling the potatoes for the cottage pie! They sell great ones in IKEA the next time you're in! xx
Really enjoyed watching that, thankyou, always wondered what they were like. I'm glad your mum liked the cottage pie, although her face said otherwise, hopefully it was the camera she didn't like!! Stay safe xx
Hi Emma really enjoyed watching todays videos the meals looked delicious. My daughter has these Gusto boxes and they really enjoy them all you need in one box ,however don’t know if it’s the Gusto or another competitor that they have also used but some of the fresh ingredients arrived and wasn’t at their best this has happened once or twice just lately so they are having a little break from them at the moment, they will definitely try again and hopefully they will have improved as they do really enjoy the recipes and the convenience. Do agree with Chris though I do think you could do the same recipes a tad cheaper if you bought your own ingredients now you have the recipe cards. Definitely something to think about and why not treat yourself once in a while to a box of delicious meals x
Hi Em. I don’t put gravy in cottage pie, I put baked beans in. By the way mangetout is pronounced mange too. Loved the video, even though we’re still in lockdown you come up with some good ideas. X
I have had Hello Fresh, Gousto and Mindful Chef. I get the best value by choosing a 2 person box for 3 days and then only cooking fresh every other day and warming up the meal on the next night. My favourite is Hello Fresh because I like my carbs and spices. Gousto portions seemed smaller so not as good value but the packaging was a bit less plasticky. Mindful Chef is lovely food and less packaging, but I love my carbs too much. 😆 I only started trying them during first lock down and enjoyed not having to do a supermarket shop even on line.
Now l didn't think it was too bad on the expense because there were expensive items like haddock and Halloumi and plenty of it by the looks all fresh and the ingredients looked lovely and fresh too. I am going to rout around for a discount voucher and give it a try. Thank you for sharing this with us 🤗
Had our first box on Tuesday.... so far really impressed with the three meals we've had but hey Gousto where was my chocolate bar? The wooden spoon doesn't quite cut it now I know Em got choc!
Great idea thanks, agree it can be expensive maybe better for singles as you get exactly what you need for each meal so you don’t have to buy lots of things for a meal that you might not need again, and it’s a good way of trying new recipes 👍🏻❤️
Ooh great video!! I ordered myself a 2 people Gousto box and bought it with a website topcashback and I paid £21.99 and basically getting it for free after I recieve the gusto box, if you haven’t tried that highly reccomend if new customers
This is so funny, I've just got my first gousto box and been watching a few reviews and it's hilarious how excited everyone is to receive the spoon 😂 i got excited about my spoon as well haha
It was actually nice to hear someone be less impressed with boxes like this. As you said, if the household doesn’t enjoy all the same foods it’s pretty costly. For me personally there’s a lot of unnecessary single use plastic. But even if there wasn’t I couldn’t get them while my mum is here for lockdown because we eat so differently (I’m veggie and not big on spice, she loves meat, fish and spices)
I think these boxes are a but expensive. Better off buying full size staples and following a recipe book to make a big serving and can freeze the rest. So much cheaper but i can see the appeal for people who cant cook well and trying to learn
@@teaacustardcream2868 Thats exactly what I do. I got myself a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker at the start of lockdown and it’s made batch cooking so much faster and easier
Enjoyed this Thanks....Think lunch today is going to be fish finger wraps!! x Value wise I would have been unhappy paying the full price for that box, (glad you had 50% V)x
Loved this vlog. I've often wondered about these boxes & now is a good time to try them as we can't eat out! Putting beans in the beef dish was a brainwave!
We’ve just had 4 Gusto boxes for the past 4 weeks and got a “gift” 3 times out of 4. I really enjoyed the meals but agree that without the discount it is on the expensive side. Overall though I liked them and would use again in the future 😋
Hi Emma. Interesting. Was disappointed when the chilli beef turned out no so tasty but great idea to add the b beans the next day👍👌. I'd probably have added Worcestershire Sauce too....(seem to add it to anything with minced beef...but perhaps I'm a bit odd lol 🤔😄). It's a pity that you can't order for specific numbers of people, and as you say, a bit pricey at full price, but like the fact it gets you thinking outside the box with food. Thank you for sharing. 🤗
That halloumi stew looked unreal, love spinach. Would never have pot it together like that. Going to look for the recipe online. I'm trying gousto next week, going to try the low calorie and Joe wicks stuff. Hopefully keep myself on track :) I have a 60% off a box and 30% off the next three boxes if anyone wants it x
Hi em , great vlog , but I think its very expensive without the discount . My friend gets the boxes and makes the meals then passes the menu cards to me , I can make exactly the same thing for half the price. X
Em, always enjoy your reviews, that chili looked way too hot for Chris. Just a tip. Place a wet paper towel under the plastic chopping boards, no more slips and cut fingers. Maybe don't place one on top of the other either. You can use the paper towel to wipe the bench after.
I’ve tried Gousto this week too. 2 meals were nice & 2 were only ok - expected there to be more flavour given all the different ingredients in them. Seems a lot of wasted plastic though. Got a Hello Fresh box coming on Monday. Wouldn’t pay full price for any of these types of boxes mind you x
Hi Em, all the chilled stuff, does it stay chilled, I wouldn't like the idea of meat n fish, sitting thawing/getting warm, a case of bad tummy. Maybe? Xx
That was interesting. I used to get recipe boxes from Abel and Cole, a veg box company, and almost everything was nice, but since COVID they haven’t done them. I’ve recently tried mindful chef. I’m vegetarian and I cook for a meat eater who’s happy to eat veggie. Mindful chef don’t do dairy though so meals are vegan. That’s fine. One meal was really nice, and I tried Kimchi for the first time, having had no idea what it was before. It was nice, but the second meal also had kimchi and that was bland and the whole meal was tasteless. I ended up throwing half mine away. One meal had chill, and I chucked in the whole lot, only to find later it was so hot that it was painful to eat!😖. I think it’s a good way to try new ingredients, especially as vegetarian and vegan meals require a lot of different ones, which can be expensive anyway. It’s insanely expensive though I think, and I might only do it when they have something new I really fancy trying.
Hi Em TFS I have thought about trying these box meals my husband and I don’t like spicy food and he is just a plain eater but the fish wraps and cottage pie might be good for us , I think it was good price with discount but can’t really afford full price maybe once a month, do you need to buy each wk ? 💝💐💖💐💞
I’ve never tried ordering my food like this. I’d much rather cook my own as I’m pretty finicky. Is Haloumi like Tofu? At lease you liked some of the stuff.
Food seems OK but I had a complaint regarding deadline to choose menu's. Gousto have very poor customer services. They had the opportunity to correct their mistakes by admitting fault and offering an apology. Instead they just repeated their policy and refused to acknowledge they had given me incorrect information despite me having proof. I have rarely come across a company with such an arrogant attitude towards their customers. Do they not realise that they have competition offering a virtually identical product?
It seems that way. But hate to break it to you... their competitor hello fresh is actually their own company. Both hello fresh and guestos are under the same umbrella!
I take it the vegetarian menus cost the same as boxes containing meat? If that's the case I won't partake on principle. Meat is much more expensive than vegetables, particularly with the current supermarket 'healthy' cheap vegetables campaign
