that is your fan wire call 'Run' connected into the common on your new 5mfd cap, common is black goes on contactor.

Thanks for the vid. Most times I’ll go ahead and wire the new cap and run my other tests before getting with my customer to provide them with all the issues I find at one time related to the condenser. That may help with your sales. Works for me in the Dalton area. Stay cool my friend!

So the fan went to the small 7.5 capacitor
How did you connect the larger capacitor.. did you just make the 2 different terminals one is the commons and the other is the herm?

Yes. You connect to 2 capacitors with a wire that plugs into each common side of the caps

@@smacleod69 I wouldn’t say it was a waste of my time. I did learn a lot through the study of Nate content, but yeah, once the knowledge is obtained, the certification is just eye candy. However, in the world we live in, certifications generally makes you more valuable in an employers eyes. Some big hvac companies in my area require that all techs are Nate certified.

In my experience, having the NATE certification has been beneficial. More and more reputable companies are starting to require NATE certification, and if the company doesn’t require it, it’s leverage to get you a higher hourly wage. Plus, you do learn a lot from the class.
