I would love to see a video on "getting my clothes tailored." I think it would be a great platform to discuss both sustainability and body-inclusivity. I'm also just curious, because it's always been something I've wanted to try but don't know how much it would cost, what kind of alterations can be made, and how easy it is to do.
THIS!! I'm not plus-sized but I'm very short and curvy, so finding clothes that fit my proportions right off the rack is really difficult. Especially for business casual/professional items, which you really need to fit well on your body.
Yes, totally agree! My weight has fluctuated a lot in the last few years and I hate having to buy new clothes when my body changes when I could easily get things taken in. Always curious about the process and the cost!

tailoring is pretty expensive, I had my pants hemmed to be shorter and it was $20 each. they said to bring in the waist was $40 so I passed
I love that you did a more thorough try out for the top three, sometimes it makes a big difference using something for several hours rather than just a quick try on.

tip with all denim: NEVER put them in the dryer, always air dry them after washing, they’ll be a little stiff but shake them out and after 5 minutes of wearing they’ll be perfect again, i haven’t had any issues with waists stretching out since ive been doing this with new denim

@@rotisserie8444 if there’s elastane or spandex in the jeans, the dryer will burn the plastic and make the jeans bag out.
Sierra, I used to work at Madewell and the denim stretch is something we always try and warn customers about! A quick tip is to check the fabric makeup of each pair of jeans/shorts you try on. The more cotton there is in the fabric, the more they will stretch! If you find a pair you like that has a higher cotton content (Like in the mid to high 90s) we usually say to find the size that fits your perfectly in the dressing room, and then buy at least the next size down!
Huh? This makes no sense to me. Denim is literally just cotton in a twill weave so should always be 100% cotton. Besides, cotton has very little elasticity anyway. It's the elastane content that determines the stretch hence the name.
@@duck6100 Hi, sorry for the confusion! Yes, elastane will make the jeans stretchy. But this kind of stretch is like that of skinny jeans, it will stretch when you put them on, and then when you take them off should bounce back to its original size. Think like a rubber band. Cotton doesn't stretch, so sorry for my poor word choice, but what I meant is that it will *relax*. Think about the neckline of your cotton shirts after a few wears and washes, and how they lose their shape! That is what I meant! So the jeans with a lot of cotton won't feel stretchy like a rubber-band, but will loosen and lose their shape after really just one wear. And no, not all jeans are 100% cotton. Very few are actually true denim anymore. Hope this helps!
Carrie Dayton talked about the rollbacks too, and it is only affecting like 75 stores in the US, out of over 1100. And it's only in stores where the plus sizes aren't really being bought. That seems like a smart business decision, not a slight against plus size people or their BODEQUALITY initiative.
At Walmart? I noticed that the other day their Jean shorts were $5.
This! It's so annoying for people to be like "I don't like old navy anymore." Like they still offer more than almost every other brand in their stores and online!
I agree that it’s a smart business decision. I think stores should cater to their clientele and who actually shops there. If your store is constantly selling out of sizes 0-12 and the clearance section is full of all your larger sizes, then it doesn’t make sense to waste floor space on larger sizes. And the flip side is also true. If you are located in a place like West Virginia where over 72% of people are plus size, it makes sense to carry more larger sizes and skip the XXS and size 0’s.
So they say 75 stores but a plus size tiktoker went through and very few of the 1100 stores carry the extended sizes. So either not many carried it to begin with or navy more than 75 stores were effected.
@@jax422 I agree that it’s a smart decision. However, I’m from WV and most clearance stuff is still mostly plus sized. I wear a medium or large and rarely find things in my size when it comes to the clearance section.
Old Navy is still awesome and really inclusive! It's the only one of these stores that even makes my size (4x/30 at Old Navy). It should still be supported above these others stores if you care about an inclusive size range and affordable prices. Even though they rolled back some sizes in some stores, they are still better than literally every other brand on this list for inclusivity! 😊
Old Navy's denim is so weird though. And you can get up to a 4x in store at Walmart!
The thing with old navy is they're only rolling back that inclusivity in something like 10% of their stores and only in the stores where those sizes were under performing. They still have all sizes in a vast majority of their stores and online they have so many options. And they are still one of the most inclusive brands size wise.
Its so crazy to me how inclusive a&f is now after them being so anti fat in the early 2000s! My shorts from a&f are my favorite.

The mention of rocks with the dad shorts review from A&F makes me want more rock collecting and tumbling videos. Probably easier on the main channel but this video made me think of that. Also wonder how grace would engage with the process if she would even be interested.

I wish there was a way to filter bottoms by level of distressing in addition to rise, colour, and size. I may be the odd one out here but I hate distressing and raw hems, but that’s what’s been in style for a while now, so finding shorts that fit my small frame and have the rise level I want that aren’t ripped has been a struggle.

My favorite denim shorts are a pair of men's knee shorts with a stretchy/drawstring waist band. I got them in the men's section at Walmart for $14, I can fit two bottles of propel water in one pocket plus my hand. They're so comfortable and soft and stretchy.
Love this video! Another short you absolutely HAVE to try though is the Shiny By Nature shorts!! They are a small women owned business based in NYC that specifically design their shorts for curvier bodies! Amazing size range and great quality. Highly recommend!!
they also make a skirt for people with bigger butts and it's slightly longer in the back so it ends up looking the same length all the way around! I got mine last week and LOVE it

I have been struggling to find shorts all summer and I never would have considered to look at Abercrombie, Madewell, or Levis! Growing up both Abercrombie and Levis were stereotypical ultra-thin and “rich” stores, and in Indiana Madewell doesn’t even exist! Having always been chunkier than my peers (and poorer usually), most of these brands felt like spaces I wasn’t allowed or welcome to exist in. As a more financially stable, but still fat, adult I’m so glad to see brands starting to change and open up to the communities they’ve outcasted for so long. Gotta add that I am still pissed about AE and Old Navy rolling back on their inclusivity. They’ve been safe havens for the plus community for awhile and the Bid Equality campaign should have been ground breaking. Frustrating to see another “1 step forward, 2 steps back” kind of situation.
I'm not sure what part of Indiana you're in but if you're close to Indianapolis there's a madewell store there!
@@katherinemarie4844 I no longer live in Indiana, but I was from the South Bend region! I live north of Houston, TX now and there's a Madewell about 6 minutes down the road, but I've never been in lol
Worked for a website that curated plus size brands and whenever I did some reseaon potential new brands I experienced the same thing of clicking on the largest sizes and most things weren't available.
We had a rule that at least 50% of things had to be available in their largest size but usually went more for 70% and kept and eye on the brands if they had less.
Fucking sucks if you can only shop for very few styles when the site advertises a lot more.

I would take the stitching out of the back pockets and sew darts from mid pocket level to the waist, then re sew the pockets back down♥️
My favorite were the madewell shorts, too, before I even saw your final score. I'm glad you actually tested the shorts throughout those days. I guess you can't judge THAT book by it's cover alone.

Check out Old Navy A-line denim shorts. My daughter has thicker more muscular legs and she LOVES them. She usually has issues with legs being tight but these are great.

Seeing the Ava and Viv shorts warms my heart. The best jeans I ever owned were by them. I no longer fit into plus sizes but, if I did, ALL of my denim would be Ava and Viv.

So very helpful in minimizing the frustration of clothing shopping I feel anymore ♥️ the only thing I feel like chipping in on would be the recommendations for the shorts after the wear test. Just for me, a human shaped like a potato, those madewell shorts sound fantastic! I have such a hard time finding bottoms period that will accommodate my larger than average waist. So the give sounds like a dream come true. I guess only that I would add that they’re more catered to a different shape, but wonderful video ♥️ Always enjoy watching!
I literally bought my first pair of jean shorts in about 8 years this month. And they were the Levi Strats. I LOVE THEM. And then I went back to Walmart and got some time and tru and am OBSESSED. WITH THOSE!
So my favorite thing from American eagle is their curvy line!!! Their curvy jeans and curvy shorts fit so perfectly! I highly recommend trying them!

Got to the Walmart section of the vid and just have to say I ALWAYS have to size up with their clothing! I’m not sure why this is, but it seems almost everything from there is smaller, especially pants and skirts. It’s really interesting to see the sizing difference just between brands, thanks for taking the time to compare! 💕

So excited to see my own pair and suggestion (Target Ava+Viv) in the top three! I think you picked well taking everything into account: fit, quality, comfort, price, AND size inclusivity within style options. I love the Ava ones but it’s technically Target’s plus brand, so they wouldn’t be available for anyone smaller than a 14. I still love mine and got three washes for $13.99 each during a sale!! Will definitely look into those Abercrombie ones though they were super cute!!

Size down on all of them (your top 4) and do a follow up video. You really want them to be just a bit too tight when you put them on fresh - because they obviously stretch IMMEDIATELY. I’d love to see you try a range of 3 sizes - one that’s a bit tight and one that’s even tighter on first try-on, and see how they wear the rest of the day.

I think the first pair that are marketed as "low rise" are actually meant to be worn low on the hips. So even though the rise seems high, they're designed to be a bit of a drop crotch.

Madewell demon runs quite big!! Always size down. They’ll be a bit small when you first put them on but within a small amount of time they fit and stay perfectly!
Yes! I worked at Madewell and I swear most things run large at Madewell
Suggestion for the Walmart shorts you liked! Get the Gold Bond friction reducer stick. It helps so much with chafing. If you have a super long day, I do suggest bringing it in your purse for a second application later in the day.

Working at Madewell we always tell people that our denim stretches a lot within an hour at home, even the most ridged denim stretches I’ve noticed from Madewell. and I feel like with this type of denim it’s so much easier to try it on in store because with the styles I’ve been multiple different sizes actually!

i highly recommend from Target the Womens Super-High Rise Rolled Cuff Mom Jean Short from Wild Fable. $15, comes in straight and plus (runs short since there’s not much strech) but WOW are these my favorites shorts now

You need to try the old navy high waisted A-line shorts. Got them for my daughter who has more muscular legs and they fit her so perfectly since the legs are a-line cut.
I haven't tried the old navy ones but absolutely second trying a-line shorts for people with bigger thighs! I got a few a-line shorts from target this summer and I love them.

Good American runs big! I’m usually a 6 in most brands and usually size down to a 4 or even a 2 in some pairs since they’re so stretchy!

I've always been struggling to find denim shorts because I'm also not into the short length and so anytime I look for longer lengths the hems are either cutoff or rolled and I'm just not into that! I just want an actual stitched seam. Its such a struggle! I will definitely check some of your options!

My favorite pair of shorts that I have for this summer came from Walmart. I didn’t have high hopes for them but after I tried them on and wore them throughout the day I loved them. Only $11 on sale.
You are heavensent for doing this video!! Finding good shorts has always been a struggle to me. I have yet to find a pair I love enough to use year after year. I thought I found a great pair felt great put on but then spent the day out with them yesterday and omg!!! They stretched and gave major camel toe, I couldn't sit because I would lose oxygen from the digging in my stomach and as I walked I was hoping with every step to not get a yeast infection from the riding up. Such a bummer and they we re longer Bermuda shorts. Not a fun time lol thank u for doing the dirty work of trying all these. Will definitely look into these but now I feel like I have too many options because all of these look so good
Video idea! Trying different curl style methods each time you wash your hair. Bowl method, air dry, diffusing, plopping vs micro plopping, brush curls, etc!
