- Went over to Indiana to grab this 1980 mixer truck. Was nothing real exciting but a nice change from the normal stuff. These Older trucks are interesting to look at how technology has changed and how basic and simple these machines were even just 40 yrs ago. I spend more time talking and explaining some steps in this one since i was in a parking lot and not in a bug hurry.
Pretty dang funny "bet it rides like a dream ". That ol' camelback hammer-ride suspension. Good vid!
Thanks for watching!
I like your style of work man. Excellent operator. I remember towing them old Mack’s as a teenager back in the late 80s. Every concrete company used them style trucks with the 237 mack motors. Now it’s all KW mixers around here
Thank you!!! They are definitely cool old trucks for sure.. thanks for watching
That is some tool bag, mighty proud of it. Thanks!!!
it is always more stable to use a heavier truck when hauling heavy weight . GOOD CALL !
Good looking rig.
Worth saving.
That appears to be a twin stick 7 speed mack great transmission shifts sort of like the old 5 &4 used to find in older chevy gassers tandem Dump great transmission also look like your break dancing going down the road but tough just remember if you ever need to put PTO in with twin stick mack throw your auxiliary in neutral and use your main for PTO control 😂and 😂 great job Kris
We have small concrete companies here in Arkansas still using these old mixers and before wheel lifts that pump out on the front bumper could be a real problem
@@Hondabill that's awesome.. they are neat trucks
@ I drove a couple of Mack’s that were 60’s they had tri plex 5 speed on the stick closest to driver and 3 on the other not sure what they had in the 80’s
Aaah the Petro in New Paris ,Ohio been there many times and ya avoid that Ohio Scale. ✌️
It is a good one to avoid for sure!
That would be the petro truck stop in new Paris, oh

Truck driver, been there more than I can count, also I'm from within the findlay area and great seeing someone close
That one looks a little lighter and that's a duplex trans
@@jimmykellam7072 was definitely lighter... Had no clue about that trans thanks
Did you get the actual weight of it? I ran/worked on mixers for about 10 years and 55k seems a little high. It is a good looking old bulldog. I believe it's a Maxitorque trans it's a 5 speed with a H/L/R
@@soggybottom23 yeah it definitely didn't weigh that. That's just what we were told before we went to get it
@@krisstafford74 well that's better than thinking it's lighter and not have enough truck
@@soggybottom23 agreed
No breakaway chains?
@@April8989 That's what the cables are put on there for they have a higher rating than the safety chains anyway
That is a mastodon transmission you have your 1 through 4 can you hit the other shifter and go from low into high and go through them again it's a maxi din it's no big deal
@@roberttaylor2677 that's cool... Thanks for watching
What’s with all the old man noises? I make the same noise but I’m 70yrs old.
@@kirkvanzyll6224 like Indiana Jones said it's not the years it's the mileage
