Just wanna say, at the end of the album this is on, there is a hidden reverse message that says "Wouldn't the world be better off if we took nonsense more seriously". Which I think really predicts the life of this song. We made a bunch of stupid overly absurd ironic memes, but eventually we took it seriously, and now we will ever be blessed by this wonderful song.

This song makes me feel a feeling I've only ever felt once before. While I understand how small I am in the grand scheme of things in an abstract sense, this song really makes me *feel* it. If you're here because of the recent memes, I want you to know a little about this band, Tally Hall. they're no longer together, the members are all doing their own thing now, but a reason the band fell apart is because nobody was interested in their stuff at the time. this was in the early 2000's. These guys stopped making music because seemingly nobody cared about their stuff.
now, they've gained a cult following. now people are recognizing their songs, now people are coming to listen, now people are wanting more. I feel bad for them. I wish they'd come back.

I've heard a few Tally Hall songs before, and I'm going to be completely honest, I had no idea they made this
Tally Hall is quickly becoming one of my favourite bands
God, how many great talents has that happened to? Even something like Among Us sat in extreme obscurity for 2 years before it completely blew up. It's crazy to imagine how much different the world would be if some things had gotten more popular at their time, or if something had never gotten its big break
Tally Hall's songs are hidden gems. Ruler of Everything became my favorite song, after randomly stumbling into it after watching the memes. If there was a time for Tally Hall to come back, it's now. I would love to see another song.

this is exactly what I thought, the song essentially says that in the end time is the ruler of everything and will outlast us all.
Well I feel it's more complex than that. At the end of the video the 2 dimensional creatures begin to eat the world time lived in and transform it back in 2d. There has to be something there. It has to be reference to a sort of loop, as the lyrics also go over it.
I felt like it was more like, no matter how much power something has, there will always be something to one up it, and even if we manage to bend physics to our will, only a god or time will maintain power

Ive listened to this a bunch and ive just realized a few things:
-the song is about controlling time (mechanical hands are the ruler of everything)
-using the power irresponsibly, and not understanding it
-the song slows down, speeds up and even uses sounds that are sped up and slowed down to show the impact of time
-in the video the little people get tired of being controlled and kill the ruler, returning everything back to normal and bringing the song back to the opening riff.
Very cool stuff for a rather silly and wild sounding song.

@Shellpox as a 16 year old myself who is overcoming the same issues, my advice would be not to worry about the future and start focusing on what you have in hand, which is this current second, this moment. This is all you have. You are the oldest you have ever been and the youngest you'll ever be as we speak. And another advice I wanna give (idk if you want it) that, everything you overthink and interpret (wrong or right) will only be in your head and its not affecting you in any ways irl other than mentally. Avoid those thoughts if you can.
