idk the way i tried to make it was like trent defending courtney cuz he understands exactly what is she going through and how painful a breakup is for her. so he is punishing duncan for being two timing that encouraged gwen to kiss him while he is still in relationship with courtney. he is more shocked of the cheating thing than the fact that duncan and gwen are together. he is not so mad at gwen but more at duncan cuz he gave mixed signals to gwen and he is hurting and tricking two girls simultaneously not offering an honest sincere start for his relationship with gwen the way she actually deserves it . courtney is actually impressed with trent for being an honest gentleman who helped her during her most painful moment of her life and accepts dating him for being a great guy. in my version i wish trent and courtney ended up together. ❤😭
