- Adult bald eagle invades the territory and lands on the nest multiple times. Jackie and Shadow take turns chasing it around.
The intruder ends up being kicked off the nest three times.
Bald eagles routinely compete for territories and mating opportunities. They engage in territorial disputes, which may result in displacements.
Egg#1 is 53 days old, Egg#2 is 50 days old. The eggs are not expected to hatch.

How do birds know who's who? They all look the same
@@JohnDoe-id1es stupid answer, you should take some medicines.
each eagle looks different in another eagle’s opinion. they all have different voices too. same as we can easily recognize people

Can't believe I just found Jackie's and shadows live feed this year 2024, if I would've watched this during 2020 covid year I would not have been as bored
I agree I’m surprised I didn’t find Jackie and shadow before
I found it last year and I thought the same 😅😂
My wife and I discovered this live cam a month ago and have been mesmerized ever since. We also have watched the past videos of Jackie and Shadow that covered some of their adventures. I will even wake up at 3am sometimes and check in on them.
Yes, that was me my first year! We were fortunate enough to watch them hatch and raise Spirit, which was a joy to behold! Glad to have you with us :)
Shadow: Yeah, yeah I’m comin’ (then) HOLY S**T!!!
Jackie: Yeah Holy S**T! WTF ya been?!!!
Out tryin' to catch some dinner for you babe. Where you think?
WOW ....THIS IS A REAL TREAT TO BE ABLE TO WITNESS NATURE UP CLOSE LIKE THIS. WOW.
Jackie ain't playin with that fool! You go girl!
You were so right! When they finally became parents in March of 2022, they sure DID end up being the absolute best eagle parents I've ever seen. And everyone sees and knows it and comment daily about it. We watch other eagles, but nobody seems to have witnessed this great and close-knit parenting of this eagle pair. The gentle and loving care they give Spirit is so beautiful to watch. I've been watching pair in Florida and they do take care of two eaglets, but it's just nothing compared to Jackie and Shadow. I wonder if it's because of their two years in a row with tragedy for their eggs. Don't know, but their constant loving attention to Spirit, to each other and maintaining nest is amazing to watch.
We even love watching Jackie and Shadow get into their marital bliss disagreements over sticks! 👍🏼😁💖
Yes you're totally right 🌹
You haven’t been watching eagles for long have you?
@@Astronurd - I think whatever your words meant, you could've made it with a point and some politeness. Then, I could have answered your point with politeness. Then, we would've had what's called "a conversation."
Getting shitty to obviously show some superiority is called arrogance. I have a feeling you do that often. Insecure people do.

I’m surprised that whole patch of snow didn’t melt from Jackie’s adrenaline and blood boiling 😡
Boiled eagle eggs.. yummy...

That Jackie is fierce.
Of course, she's a Mother, protecting her babies. I do wonder if she will mate with Shadow again since he seems ill suited to protecting the brood.
Can't blame the other male, Jackie is a great Mother and a catch!
Early on it seemed she was calling for Shadow because he returns shortly thereafter. It is amazing to watch this, thanks to Cali and Big Bear for bringing this beauty to us. Hope the eaglettes (lol) are hatched 🐣 soon
I hesitated to start watching this pair because I have a very strong tendency to become totally addicted. I watched the T family of GHOwls in Edmond, Oklahoma from nesting to fledges, I didn’t want to do anything but watch them! Followed them four years in a row.
But here I am and I feel the joy of watching this fascinating pair already deep in my soul.❤
Wow, what a tough life. I didn't know they laid eggs in winter time. Not an easy job.
Im amazed they manage to keep them warm.
Great video. Thank you for placing the arrows in, it’s very helpful. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video. 🦅🦅
Yes those arrows are so great
Good job to these eagles building a sturdy nest. Held up fine even after all the commotion. Excellent footage btw. Congratulations to the individuals who set this camera system and angle up for us. Gotta love technology
It’s so interesting to see their communication.
Years ago, Shadow was the intruder on Mr. B. Shadow would not leave and won the prize .. Jackie 💥
Wow so Shadow stole Jackie ???
Guess Mr B. Didn’t have what it takes
@@ninettaflores7515 Yes, when Shadow showed up he was not yet adult. Jackie & Mr. B had a fledgling in the nest. After Mr. B and fledgling moved on, there was Jackie & Shadow. As he matured, there were some spirited conversations. But in the end, Shadow won Jackie over.
His protective instinct is incomparable. They give their lives for eggs, if necessary. Many human beings should learn from them.
@Tony Teslafan what a burn. 💨
@Tony Teslafan yes we do. Just not in that way.
@Tony Teslafan Not with that attitude they don't
Of course we do the same, what a dig
@Phantom 1969(small minded ignorance) There's still an egg involved..... humans would just as soon destroy a viable life as if they were taking out the trash!!
I live next to a tidal river where there is an eagles nest that’s been home to a pair of them. I very much enjoy watching them and their antics in the spring. At times I’ve seen several of their off spring, up to 10 different ones at a time. What a racket in the mornings!!
Wow I hope to see them in reality someday 🌹
Birds do get noisy in the am, I've witnessed several wakeups with multiple Macaws, Lord have mercy! Gotta have hearing protection designed for gunfire!! It's so much more intense with a cockatoo added, and being inside, I just had to retreat outside for a few minutes! Wow!!
You don’t mean 10 eaglets in one nest at the same time, the max # of eggs is 3 (clutch) as they grow quite quickly and take up a lot of room even in a large nest! It’s very special to have all three eggs live long enough to fledge the nest.
Jackie & Shadow are bad ass! ❤️❤️
Smile 🌹
Shadow took his sweet time getting to Jackie
Yes what was up with that why did he not respond to her calls
I’ve gotta say that we (the US) have the best national bird. Regal, aristocratic and darn good parents, to boot.
Darn skippy we do! :) 🇺🇸 🦅

Lol no. Golden eagles are the ultimate shit
Oh very well said my friend 😊
I like the Adventures of Jackie and Shadow. My twins like watching on the 55" TV with my wife and i
This BAEA probably knew Jackie or the nest surroundings. Looks like it has been here before. But Jackie won’t tolerate it. This is her and Shadow’s nest. Boy did the both, excellent teamwork, shoo it away. So glad to know no one got hurt. The intruder didn’t wanna give up. It stressed her out so much. Protecting her eggs still. Thank you Cali. Amazing vid you shared. Loved it!
Dude shadow...if you're not gonna fight the intruder then at least sit on the eggs! LoL
I wondered about that. I thought eagles took turns. It sure seems like they're spending too much time off the nest, given the weather conditions. Made me wonder if maybe it was a premature clutch and the "intruder" wanted in on the 2nd attempt. But I thought they mated for life, so what do I know?
💜 Sweet shadow lol
Hi Dana, Really appreciate your videos over the years. You are a blessing! 🙏 I have been watching Jackie and Shadow to get my mind off this crazy world! God bless you! 😊
What did the intruder want? Well done Jackie! Thank you very much Cali Condor for identifying each eagle and for the slow motion mode! Great video!
I'm guessing it was another female who was trying to run Jackie off. That's what happened in DC, and it worked. Their female was infertile for 2 seasons in a row, so I guess older females are at risk from younger females who have not bonded with a male yet.
Oh! It's sad! Thank you @@thundercrown278
Shadow… she’s a younger eagle and he’s the Fetching Prince of Big Bear.
Intruder wanted eat ze' eggs!
My dogs are looking all over for where Jackie must be at 😆.
Mine are completely freaking out!!!
I'm super surprised that my dog doesn't care about all the eagle noises lol 🤣
Thank you again for an amazing video of how this wonderful pair of eagles together, protect what they have created.
I just love the way how they are protecting the 2 eggs ,and its a great idea to switchback and fourth so each of the eagle parents get time to get food and do important things for the eggs and the couple.
Love how careful they are with the eggs!
Why does narrative state
"The eggs are not expected to hatch"? This is from last year. Did they hatch? If not, do they have to wait til next year?
SO BEAUTIFUL when they are flying🦅!! Shadow ...🤗
I am actually watching the background scenery, it's beautiful..
i imagine if i can enjoy a tree house like this,....
I was just thinking the very same thing…this is quite a view…one that I will never have!
This was so heartbreaking to listen to...they will be great parents one day.
I feel bad that Jackie & Shadow have had enough worries without the intruder causing problems.
She was having none of it!-🐦🐣💙⛅
Whoa! Nice moves, Jackie and Shadow! Can't wait to see the eaglets!
Thank you for the recap. I was able to share the excitement of the day with my husband when he got home.

seems to me Jackie did most of the battle. Bad ass Mama! Shadow was MIA for too long. I believe Shadow will do better this year. From what I see so far he is very attentive to the nest. Fingers crossed for J and S and the little ones!
@Nick Diesal no, but there is a live stream going on right now showing jackie sitting on her eggs
I assume he's out hunting sometimes - maybe even miles off.
I know it made me very anxious. Where were you Shadow!
jackie is a bad ass momma protecting her precious eggs........go momma go

Very well done video. Terrific editing. This captured it all and made it easy to figure out how it all happened. Thanks so much for your hard work. Grateful they are ok. Such a strong pair!

Yes really amazing 🌹
When does Shadow show up?
Jackie and Shadow giving the intruder that smoke!!
But is a logic and truth ...... no birds put the eggs for incubation in the middle of snow .......is not real ...
Maria Deac it is real, obviously. Please do your research.
Maria they are nesters and some make their homes in Alaska nests and l and you think it’s not real. Um yes ma’am. We have a few pairs where I live and they nest high in the trees near the lake SNOW and all.
Eagles have approximately 5,000 feathers, so they are very well insulated.

Epic montage!!! Looked like the intruder really knew the nest. Mr BB??, we will never know. Thank you, Cali.
I’m in Florida and watch the Southwest Florida Eagle Cam and have been for years. These northern Eagles amaze me that they can nest in the snow. It seems like they wouldn’t even have enough food available. 🦅
Southern California. Big Bear Lake is in the San Bernardino Mountains. It is teaming with fish. To the East is the Mojave Desert, and about 100 miles to the West is the Pacific Ocean. Latitude is 34. You live at around latitude 26. For a comparison, San Francisco is Latitude 38. I believe the nest is at about 7K elvation.
Yeah in Cali, you can water ski before lunch and head to the mountains and snow ski after! That’s what I love about it
In the background, you see Big Bear Lake. Big Bear Lake does not freeze and there is lots of fish!
That last time Jackie got totally fed up. She said 'I'm gonna teach you a lesson", and she was on him like white on rice! He looked bigger than Shadow.
Yay, Shadow back and guard Jackie and eggs.. So beautiful commutation between Jackie and Shadow, so amazing! Anyway, I’m sure stranger eagle being bother Jackie, shadow and Jackie fight over stranger. Now what happen to stranger Eagle???
How stressful for the mom. No one messes with a mom on eggs. She will take down that male everytime. She means business. A tiger mom!! All moms will protect their young to the bitter end!!
Soo true
Stop ... many adult birds will push eggs out of the nest to die if it increases the survival odds of the others. It's survival of the fittest.
Many human moms destroy their young in the womb.
@@roarksown1
Lol thank you for being the one to say it. There are videos of storks pushing babies out of the nest and cats eating their young. Let’s pump the brakes a little bit, captain supermom…
Great job Jackie! Way to go to protect.
Stressful to watch! Excellent footage and helpful tags (THANK YOU, CALI!), and incredibly impressive to see Jackie & Shadow fight for their home!
So love that they are states bird. Beautiful birds they both teamed up and got rid of that other one.
I was wondering if it was another Female wanting the nest😬
Poor Jackie she deserves a Spa day🛁💅🍷
agreed
Thank goodness no eaglets on the nest during this
I am literally on the edge of my seat
Saw this live and just came back to watch again. No mistake...this was eagle war.
Wow I hope to see them in reality someday 🌹
Jackie kept warning not to step over that stick!!!
OH MY!!! I thought that was Shadow protecting Jackie until she chased the Intruder off❗❗❗😳 What a Strong mommy🤗
Lot of action at the nest🦅❗
Majestic birds, absolutely majestic.
You did a great job of editing this, bringing together all the elements to tell the story of their encounter with the intruding eagle. Thank you!
Wow ! this one I do not remember seeing it last year . . thanks for posting it
So sad to see her eggs be exposed so long to the cold air and snow.
You all have made a difference with your kind words. Thank you!
OMG that was Jackie flying after the intruder at the end. She was relentless 🦅
I never realised that Eagles were so vocal.. Great..
Jackie did most of the defending, didn't she? Why didn't Shadow fly to knock that intruder away? Seems Jackie did the work!
Based on size, it seems to me that the intruder was female - but even if Intruder was male, the female of the species is better equipped to repel any interloper.
@@jenniferlynn3537exactly!
Shadow does not like it when she comes back and he seems to tell her he wants more time😅
Truly amazing footage!!!
Great breakdown of the chaos!
Where the hell is Shadow? A mom 's really got to do everything!

Poor Jackie still protecting her eggs
Yes mom will always protect her eggs 🌹
Where is her mate? He should be helping to protect the nest also. Unless he on a grocery run. lol

8:00.. Jackie telling and showing Shadow that he's a father!!

good girl jackie and way to go shadow tell that intruder off....this is your family and home
Shadow always sounds like he has laryngitis. Jackie is the first one to go after the intruder. She is much bigger than he is.
Could you imagine eagles just flying around in place of those boring black birds? It always blows my mid to think how cool its must be to have bright colorful birds flying all around just as standard birds do around most of our yards and parks
