    Simply beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration to refinish my indoor backless bench to set up outside as a holding station for Amazon packages.

    I have an old dinette set with a bench I want to repurpose for family gatherings. Living in an area with lots of rain maybe a challenge, but I'm willing to take the chance.

    Such a beautiful find, are you sure it's not antique? I also loved the heart shaped cutouts and groaned when you cut them off.

      Honestly I didn't used to feel very creative. I really think it takes practice trying to look at things in different ways.

    What primer did you use? I used kils3 on my outdoor daybed swing and it's peeling of with my nail where I didn't sand in corners. Have to re paint it all. I would love to know what you used. Looks great!

      Hi. I used my favorite primer Zinsser. I’m sorry to hear yours did not hold up. Definitely give Zinsser a try.

    Wonderfully presented thanx! I have a piece of beautiful grain thin plywood to be used in Florida for an outdoor bathtub cover, so all the leaves don't stain the vinyl tub. I wanted to know if you know what the strongest water protection products that will allow the grain to show thru, like I want antique white semi or transparent but what product would be the strongest, if you would know. I bought the thin because the price for thick plywood was $75. now with inflation.

      Wood prices really are crazy these days! I would use Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane to seal something like that. It is a clear sealer that can be used over wood outside. I would stain it the color you want and then seal with this. This will yellow some over time but if you are doing an antique white rather than a pure white, some yellowing should be okay. Good luck!

      @@LovelyEtc Thanx ... OK I will look into it. Some marine person recommended clear epoxy first to seal, then marine varathane over it to handle the UV inevitability to break down the varathane. Does that sound right? I found out its Birch, the woodgrain is very delicate and lovely. Right now its wrapped in two layers of plastic from a mattress and covered with a tarp but I gotta get at it, it has been raining almost daily in Florida for weeks now, not good for wood.

    So you didn't need to sand off the old finish ?,

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc  3 года назад

      No! If you use a good primer, you usually don't need to sand off the old finish before painting. (Which is awesome, because sanding is the worst.)

    What's the name of the paint?

    • @LovelyEtc

      For this project, I used Valspar exterior paint. I don't have a color name, because I mixed together gray and white exterior paint leftover from other projects.
