Thanks for the credit! I was a bit confused too when I found out the meaning, but the runes are likely only meant as a little easter egg after all. A bit of a shame, but with the high amount of mysteries Valhalla offers I'm not terribly disappointed.
I do agree there has to be more to those rooms than just a "I was here" comment. As for why Eivor was buried in that spot... I'm pretty sure it's just because at the time it was a beautiful location and they thought it would be a nice place to live out the last of their days or too be buried in.
Isn't "Eivor carved these runes" what the runes read? Layla says this as if she was reading them, and ads "I didn't know I could read these". A message similar to "Kilroy was here".
When Layla says eivor carved this runes, she is not stating a fact, she is reading said runes. It's not a mistery, it was made a mistery because people didn't understand the dialogue, so they started to try and translate the runes
Pepole do that all the time with this game...... I don't know why pepole look so fat into it, its a game where the cannon female lead makes no sense to the story, and that women is odin.... Pepole think that odin is in evoirs mind but no, it's just a representation of the inner struggle and confusion. It's more like darth reven than anything else, yet pepole keep using that flawed idea as a base point for the cannon and its not even true.
Riiighhht. Eivor just read the sentence lol, not said it of her own accord, cuz how would she know unless she already "played" through that part. So obvious, yet so mysterious.

It's likely that in the game the runes do read "Eivor carved these runes" and they reused the carving from the Hagia Sophia because they didn't bother.
If Ubisoft Montreal were still in charge of the franchise, and Darby or someone else with the same level of his dedication and respect to the lore were writing what is going to be continued in the next game, then I would be excited. But Ubisoft Quebec don't care about canon. They don't care about lore. They don't care about the franchise. So it is very unlikely these threads will go anywhere, and if they do? They will be butchered and convoluted and will further desync the franchise.
End of Paris DLC Eivor's mood toward war and slaughter changes. Constantly looking for peaceful resolution. Compare that to the beginning of the game. Also in Paris Eivor talks about the need for good leaders to step aside and allow others to take their place. Likely Eivor moved on to Vinland as last hoorah and lived out final days watching over important artifacts. One Eivor held and another meant for someone else, while likely living and interacting amongst the native peoples who guarded the other.
Hello Markuz, again a wonderful content you are sharing with us. Really my friend when i get a notification from your YT channel, it is always interesting, never disappointed !! Thanks !
It would be awesome to have Desmond, or anyone else but I would prefer Desmond, to wipe that smug grin off Basim’s face. I would replay that moment on repeat.
Am I happy with this? No. It’s the same issue with AC in Seige of Paris DLC. It should have been focused on but it’s an open ended situation which may or may not be explored
I'm kind of tired of these mysteries that lead nowhere, these runes could mean something Eivor left in England or in USA, or even a clue to be covered in the next game.
I know, and I understand There's still a chance these might have a follow up in the upcoming content, but that's also why I called them a bit anticlimactic in the video :( - Markuz
The seemingly pointless message could be intentional. It's a direct copy of a rune in Haiga Sophia, a location present in Revelations (and also a majorly interesting real world place). The connection to the Varangian Guard of the Eastern Roman Empire, plus Constantinople is where Sigurd met Basim while working as a mercenary. We also have the Irish trade mission tree that ties in the Eastern Roman empire, even an armor set reward. Constantinople and AC Revelations were also extremely well received back in the day. We could be seeing a hint that some future DLC or game will take us back to Constantinople. We got to go back to Paris and London, both prior settings in the franchise and both locations with an achievement referencing that fact. I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but perhaps we'll see a period of Eivors life where she traveled to Constantinople and perhaps we'll get more about the Varangian Guard and the Hidden Ones (who seem to be more prevalent there than in Western Europe based on Basim and Hythams dialogue).
correct me if I'm wrong but I think just like AC embers, Ezio was killed by a templar and eivor (possibly) faced the same fate in vinland, how? the viking Colonization of england ended in 1066 AD and eivor had to go somewhere to hide the piece of Eden.
So, what that runic phrase something like what US soldiers wrote all over Europe during WW2: "Kilroy was here"? Except for the Vikings calling themselves Halfdan?
We'll do that for sure! Or rather we might analyze it rather than reviewing it... depending on whether it's impactful for the overarching narrative or for Eivor / Odin's character, which the upcoming mythological DLC should be! - Markuz
honestly disappointed that it’s not anything special. I was digging into everything trying to find what these runes meant and the fact it’s a copy paste? Bit of a let down
Eivor is female but her "ancestor" Havi (aka Odin) is male who is also in her mind throughout the main game, so the animus can switch the model to Havi's model (who is what we see as Male Eivor)
@@jedipadwan20 no, sages only have the memories of an Isu not their body or powers. But Eivor refused to "merge" with Odin and mentally defeated him, so she still behaves like Eivor and not Odin.
@@ajayavsm7476 I’m not trying to be dumb here but how is Eivor still a female when there’s dna of both a male and female? Ubisoft did state that both the male and female Eivor was true canon so again not trying to be dumb I just don’t understand.
Who knows, as her genetic memories are coming directly from her own DNA and not that of one of her descendants, we have no way to know for now ^^ - Markuz
Am I the only one who thinks female Eivor sucks ass? It doesn’t even make sense with the story. If the developers wanted a female option for the mere sake of inclusion they could have at least made the character believable. The voice alone ruins it. At this point it’s annoying to even hear someone refer to Eivor as “she” or “her”.
Ubisoft canonized Eivor as a women with one of the comics. They really need to stop doing that shit, if they're going to give us a selection at game start like this they need to keep the lore open ended. It annoyed me with Odyssey too when they did that.
