I am from Assam, and felt that I need to clarify why we demand NRC. 1) NRC is applicable for Assam only. 2) NRC is far from what it represented as, NRC is not religion biased as portrayed by many political leaders who obviously see this as opportunity to gain political momentum. 3) there is a huge illegal influx of Bangladeshi citizen to Assam since Bangladesh's freedom war. And demography changed over time. Which is a threat to indigenous people of Assam. 4) all indigenous people of Assam are against this influx, be it Hindu, Muslim or any other community. 5) there is not only bangladeshi Muslim immigrants in Assam, there are Hindu Bangladeshi immigrants too. 6) we indigenous people are fighting against both immigrants. We don't care he is Hindu or Muslim, a Bangladeshi immigrant is a Bangladeshi immigrant we don't judge them on basis of their religion. 7) we want every true Indian's support as it is a issue of national integrity. 8) the best thing about NRC is that, it is directly managed by the supreme court of India. Hence, all the political parties are upset as they were unable to play their dirty game of politics.
