- A former Kennesaw Girl Scout leader is sentenced to prison for aggravated sexual battery and child molestation. A Cobb County jury found Allison Wean guilty on all counts Friday afternoon. The victim was a member of her Girl Scout troop.

No parent can BEWARE of a girl scout leader. They're supposed to be screened and trustworthy. This wasn't a creepy neighbor asking to take her for ice cream.

Wow she actually got charged accordingly, that’s a lot of time for molestation. Justice is definitely being served in this case. That child will struggle for the rest of their life.

@@tomtom-or3wc umm no wtf? People who molested children never get time like that. I was sexually abused by a man for years and he only got 90 days in jail. That’s the normal. This happening is amazing. It’s a huge step forward in getting justice for all abuse victims. Men only get a few months for this sort of thing.

Not just the Girl Scouts. I had a friend who went to the YWCA as a kid. She says there was one woman who seemed to keep more than an eye out for the girls. Guys tend to do this more often but I think it is severely underreported among females.

It is something EVERY good children’s programs fight against. But one issue that needs to be addressed is the consistent belief that primarily predators are men. The unfortunate truth is that one must keep their guard up with both men and women.
It IS ! I was held down bullied and raped by a female. This was in the 70 s. For few days afterwards I disliked myself. I wanted to throw up all of the time. What was worst we lived in a boarding school. There was no escape but she did nt come after me again. After she came out of it I think she felt guilty. She d try to wave at me across the way with this stupid sheepish smile.
I had 2 other incidents with females….

I tried joining boy scouts as a leader. I asked that all adults go to state police and do finger prints. They refused, they said a child is never left alone with one adult. There will always be two adults and they will be safe. My response, what if both adults are child molesters ?
They refused the background check and I refused to join that group. I also made it a point the background check only protects all of us. The walked away and never looked back.

Anyone evading accountability and transparency is not to be trusted!! Our public schools are hardly any better. Abuse is covered up all the time. They seldom do their due diligence on behalf of students assaulted by shitty teachers.
This happened to me and it caused so much confusion and negative feelings inside me for my life. Mine occurred over 40 yrs ago, and it never has been something I could overcome, even with years of counseling. It really ruined my life.
I am so sorry that happened to you. So very sorry. I was a victim when I was at an age where I couldn't defend myself and when I told a trusted adult, all she said was don't be alone with them. It ruined my life.

Aggravated sexual assault of a child has three elements:
The defendant committed one of the following acts with the child.
Rape
Sodomy
Oral copulation
Sexual penetration
The child was under the age of 14 at the time of the act.
The defendant is more than 7 years older than the child.
In other words, this charge only punishes sexual activity between an adult and child. Situations like kissing and touching fall under lesser penalties.
The child endured this in two states, over a 4 yr period between 12 thru 14 yrs. Right at that formative period of early teens when they are discovering their identity. This caused so much damage emotionally to this child. This woman is vile and predatory. You find predators wherever there are children - juvenile homes, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, teachers, babysitters, coaches, etc. You have to spend time with your child just chatting so they feel safe confiding in you about the abuse. It goes unreported because the parent is not aware this happened and too busy raising kids. Make time.

Most states it would be 40 years to life for under 14 years of age but the perpetrator is a woman.

It is courageous for the young woman to come forward. It seems to me that women get harsher sentences for all crimes compared with men, 25 years is appropriate. If only men got 25 years as well! Hope the young woman can heal and live a vibrant and full life going forward.

This is why I never understand why predators go after children you do know they can come forward for the next 30 yrs. Recently in the news, I forget what state but a female teacher groped a girl student at school. She’s on paid administrative leave while school district investigates. I think the victim was 6th grade or Jr High.

I applaud Judge Hill for standing up for the victim and giving a lengthy prison sentence. I hope that she is convicted in SC and given a long sentence there as well. That monster doesn't deserve to be free.
