SUPER SIMPLE KONGO ⛰️千早城址(千早神社)経由千早本道⤴️

🌧️Starting at the Kongo Tozan Guchi, we took the trail that winds up behind the toilets. It’s a steep climb on an uneven staircase of large rocks. The old tea house area, although closed down offers a peaceful spot to take a well deserved rest. From here to the shrine at the old castle site, there are more stairs but they are even and less steep. A small trail to the right of the shrine leads to an old concrete rest stop providing some shelter from the rain☔️.
Further on, this route joins the main Chihaya Hondou at Ni GouMe (trail marker 2, the peak is 10). The Chihaya Hondou’s log stairs feel never ending🪵🪵🪵. There is however a small shelter and portaloo 🧻 at marker 5, so a rest is possible.
Due to the weather 🌧️there wasn’t a view at the Hiroba today, and we had to eat undercover.

We chose the Monjyu Naka O’Ne route to go down. It was muddy and windy but probably our favourite part of the walk. Mrs Daze 🥵 is not a fan of the Chihaya! So, no matter the variation, we won’t be walking it again anytime soon!
