- I went on a Viking hike in the spring. I tapped birch trees and spent time on a rocky beach carving spoons and bowls. For meal I had bear leeks and skyr with some dried fish. It was a great mix of adventure and relaxation, enjoying nature and doing some woodcarving.
The skyr and bear garlic looks tasty. I too have been learning to carve spoons. It’s not as easy as it looks. Cheers from Nova Scotia.
Cheers. As they say, practice makes perfect. I start making them from olive tree wood/ burls. It has such a nice wood grain and smells nice while carving.
Keep on carving.
Thanks for sharing. Enjoyed the craft work.
You are welcome. Cafting can be so much fun as you getting better and better.

Thank you my friend. Yor support means a lot.
I really enjoyed your videos. The only problem I have is they make me want to put on my kit and go out and do “Viking” things. Some parts of the year that’s great but right now it’s about 95f where I’m at.
Yea every season has its perks😉
Here is the same with temperature and then you put some extra clothes for padding to train😃
Great video was wondering about the design on ur tunic sleeves, slavic ???
Thx.
Slavic yes. Very common here where we live.
@RavensOfAsgard cool I've been researching the curonians.. and russ fir a while now ..keep up the video and pass on knowledge of the old ways
Hi, I was wondering about tapping the birch trees. Is there the best time in the year to do it, or you can go whenever? Also is the taste sweet? I heard that the water from the tree is very healthy and has a lot of minerals and vitamins, which I guess makes sense... Enjoy your summer and can't wait for the next video :)
Thanks a lot. Best and "only" time to do it is in the spring. Like you said, full of minerals and a little bit sweet in taste.
