I would describe them as a little janky. The front pole holes I would say are actually less janky than the poles for both side windows. Basically just holes drilled into the aluminum frame
@@c__myers only came with them on the sides! They’ve all kinds fallen off by now anyway, even after siliconing them back in. Only purpose I think is aesthetic
Hi Thomas, thanks for your video. I am researching what RTT works best for me. I really like the Ironman 4x4. My question is where you mounted the RTT. Was there any particular reason why you mounted the tent more towards the front of the roof rack?
Hi Allen! Thanks for the question. I mainly mounted it toward the front for aesthetic purposes. I thought it looked better flush up against the Prinsu wind guard. I figured it may have less wind noise this way as well but have not tested it. I still have enough room in back to mount some maxtrax or water tanks if needed but this could also be done on the front. Figured the tent is more aerodynamic than either as well but just barely so it may break up the wind a bit better. In addition I believe it’s closer to the center of gravity of the 4runner so it will affect the feel of the car less when off-roading.
Shipping took a little under a week. I am in NV though which they shipped I believe either out of CO or OR I can’t quite remember. Either way pretty close. Be prepared to try to be home when it arrives, comes on a pallet and I had to help the delivery man make it up my driveway.
Good question Mike! I actually meant to address wind noise in the video and completely forgot. I was surprised about how little difference it made. It slightly increased wind noise but not by a significant degree. This could be in part to the sound deadening I added to my doors when I installed the OEM audio plus sound system. I did not sound deaden my roof though. When driving with the windows down it is noticeably louder especially as the awning hangs over the drivers side. This is only at highway speeds though where generally driving with the windows down is loud anyway.
Any issues with water from rIn coming in the tent?
Great video! Do you have any gripes on the holes used to plant the poles for the front door rain fly? Mine were kinda janky

@@thommybeach did your front holes come with those plastic covers at all? Mine have plastic covers on the side but not the front

Can you open your tailgate without hitting the awning when it is deployed?
You cannot. You will always hit the awning.
Can you have the tent open on the driver side?
I don’t see any reason the tent couldn’t be mounted in reverse except for the awning I had is one directional.
Hey just ordered one. How long did shipping take? What state are you located in?

@@thommybeach what did the process after purchase look like? Did someone call you to schedule delivery?
@@hungryman313 Received a tracking number with a freight delivery. May be possible to call and schedule at that point.
@@thommybeach I really appreciate the info. Luckily I have a home office so any day should work!
Does it flap in the wind?

@@thommybeach that’s good to hear, how about sleeping in it during windy days, does it flap?
@@mikekay213 Not from my personal experience especially with that weird support bar in the middle.
Can you open your tailgate without hitting the awning when it is deployed?
I’ve since removed it but when it was installed it would hit the awning when opening. I would instead open the back glass window.
@Thomas Beach thank you so much! Does it hit the bar of the awning or just the fabric?
@@valhallaoverland4692 just the fabric from what I remember.
