One of my favorite gifts to give/receive for a baby shower is a certificate for a deep house cleaning, carpet shampooing, window cleaning! 🙌🏼 It's so exhausting to clean in those later weeks of pregnancy...to be able to check that chore off the to-list is a blessing. Feels nice to recover with your newborn in a clean house.

We outsourced and had our home cleaned the day before my daughter was born. It was honestly one of the best decisions we ever made! Don’t fear that when you look around, it might be just as clean as when you do it yourself. Focus on the fact that you didn’t have to do it yourself, and instead, your body got to take time to rest, and prepare to labor and deliver your beautiful baby, and you still get to relax in a clean home ❤️

I am about to turn 34 weeks with baby #2 on Sunday! I feel like I’m simultaneously getting baby to-do’s accomplished and also making no progress whatsoever 😅 My first baby was born around when you had Jude, so I definitely understand how you feel - we started this pregnancy with a crawler and now we have a runner 😂

Ive heard multiple moms say paying a cleaner to deep clean was the best pre baby gift they could give themselves. Also heard that arranging meal services a few days a week for the newborn stage waa very valuable cause thats time and energy they could out to other things, when time and energy were super sparse
Did not have the money to do either with our newborn lol. The best things we got help with was my mom setting up the postpartum stuff in the bathroom (ended up with a c section) and writing out a schedule for all my meds. Hands down the most stress relieving thing for our personal experience. They were necessary but things i had no brain cells for.

Your home is so beautiful Beth! I totally get what you’re saying about wanting to get everything done. I’m very inpatient but have learned to take it easy. Some day I will have all the time in the world to paint and clean and decorate.

Definitely outsource the cleaning! We got cleaners in to do the bathrooms, laundry and floors as they were too hard for me and I had little interest. We also had carpet cleaners in to do our carpets and our couch! We have a golden retriever and hadn’t even really done a deep clean so it all felt so fresh and clean for baby!
Planning on doing the exact same before our second arrives in July!

About making a house a home: I have lived in my house for over 8 years and I feel like I'm finally "done" decorating it. It is totally normal to not be done after only a couple of years !

You're right with the nesting and homemaking. I want to do stuff that is actually irrelevant to the baby but I feel like it needs to be checked off. Also, I have little more than 3 weeks to go and as a first time mom, it took me ages to choose all the products I'm new to. Now I still need the majority to be delivered and organized but severe back pain hit me 🤕 So I recommend doing nesting a little earlier, you never know how you'll feel towards the end and baby might also come earlier than thought...

I did Spinning Babies and Webster technique for my recent breech baby. He literally flipped back to breech the day of his delivery 😭😭 BUT it was such a blessing because he had a pretty severe cord knot and was 99+ percentile. Maybe everything happens for a reason.

See a Webster certified chiropractor if you're concerned baby will not be in the preferred position for birth. My baby was in the Occiput anterior position the last 2 months because I saw the chiropractor a few times a month. I don't know how babies do it being upside down that long!

Congrats on baby flipping! Praying she stays head down and for a calm, peaceful birth! I’m 31 weeks and baby is head down but sunny side up, which is much less of an issue I believe but still hoping she will face the correct way 😅 would love to see a birth/postpartum prep video if your time and energy allows. Blessings to you and your family!

Im a young mom of two little boys and struggle with making a house a home as well. My husbands job has had us move frequently. We have lived 4 different places in our 5 years of marriage. Just try and focus on WHO is in your home space rather than WHAT is in your home space.

I’m also 32 weeks pregnant at the moment, and my baby is still breech and sunny side up, with anterior placenta. I’ve been hoping for a home birth but it’s weird feeling uncertain about it! I’ve been doing lots of squats and pregnancy stretches and movements on the birth ball, but maybe I need to try the chiropractor. And I haven’t tried forward inversion - spinning babies website seemed so overwhelming to me!

I think it is good you did not buy anything at the antique store, as it means you are more mindful of what goes into your home. One of my friends just had a very good home birth breech delivery! They turned her baby for her while she was in labor. My sons are not mashed potato fans :( - I told them they were not living up to their part Irish roots haha.
