Personally, the time this movie came out was the favourite phase of tamil cinema, all these small budget films from new directors like Naduvula konjam pakkatha kanom, Attakathi, Pizza, Kadhalil sodhappuvadhu eppadi, indru netru naalai, mundasupatti etc were very refreshing.
Remember once VIP,Sadhuranga Vettai,Jigarthanda all released at same time directed by new comers and all three were hits. 2017-2019 were too good with so much different genres,critically acclaimed and commercial success as well. Maanagaram,Vikram vedha,Aruvi,Aval,Velaikkaran,Ratchasan,96,pariyerum perumal,Asuran,Kaithi etc.uff 🔥 those were the days,now what a big downfall 😢 past 1.5-2 years..

This also marked a time in the industry where we had half-a-dozen great movies by young directors with a significant shift in tone/trend and also signaled the arrival of Vijay Sethupathy with a reputation of making low-budget, experimental movies work at the box office. The title 'Soothu Kavvum' roughly translates to 'Cunningness/deceit will flop/fail' but if you say it fast enough it sounds like 'Get your a** bitten' lol

Outstanding selection... perfect example for dark humour genre.. this movie was a super sensation in its day.. so many directors copied scenes from it.. one of the best comedy movies of tamil industry.. i don't how much you'll enjoy it without knowing tamil.. but still it's a worthy selection..

yes that is the first Vijay sethupathi movie I watched in 2018....from then I started watching his movies..but I feel that is his best movie
