- Charles Carroll, often referred to as Charles Carroll of Carrollton, was the only Catholic to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Carroll would go on to serve in both the U.S. Senate and Maryland State Senate. After leaving political life, he became an investor in America's early industrial movement. The Charles Carroll House in Annapolis is one of only fifteen surviving signer's birthplaces in the United States. Sharon Kennedy will share this true Annapolite's story with us.
