TVMOCKER12 What was the point in the stupid IBA telling them to ditch the name when all Central ever was ATV with a new name. And those stupid rules by Lady Plowden who hadn't got a clue about business. Close your studios in London, then pay hundreds of thousands on redundancy, then pay millions for studios in Nottingham (when all it needed was news studios), then try and get your staff in Nottingham to go to work rather than be out on strike. Then on the day of your new franchise broadcast the news from Birmingham because nobody will work in Nottingham and then years later the studios in Nottingham that cost millions are hardly used and so let's sell them off cheap to the University of Nottingham. Well done Lady Plowden. How the hell did you ever get to run the IBA?
Oh well said. That vile creature screwed ITV up when she had ATV changed; and, because of her petty spite, removed Southern Television altogether. ATV was the finest major ITV company, as Southern was the finest regional contractor. Miss them both
Good, but however the testcard (Central Television doesn't have a testcard, and after Central closedowns before 1986 they would play a 1khz Tone before shutting down their transmitters) But still nice mock. Central should have had a Test Card in the first place!
I think testcards were the preserve of the ITA/IBA in those days. It was the startup, closedown sequence and programme service that was handled by the contractor. Still it's a mock so it doesn't have to be too historically accurate.
ATV the Best, & sadly missed.
ATV wasn't just a good ITV channel, it was a memory.
