The Last Faith Demo Boss - Dr. Ridley Hermann (No Damage)

- Defeating the demo boss to the Last Faith without taking damage and I guess without magic either. Looks suitably challenging for a souls-like game. Note that while it doesn't damage you, touching the blood pool in phase two will heal the boss and eventually give a debuff that causes you to take damage when you roll.
So far the game looks good but there are a few criticisms. Magic and parrying requires two buttons and I really would have preferred one for each of them (there plenty of spare buttons to map for this). I haven't quite figured out what can and can't be parried and the move itself seems a bit weird - I've parried only one creature consistently. As well, items can't be easily replenished including your healing items. I suspect the full game will offer means to purchase items and level up so that this may not be an issue.
Nonetheless, looking forward to the full game on November 15th!

The animations for the boss are so tight, everything is telegraphed really well, I am getting this day 1

Incredible gameplay. I rage quit at this boss. Second phase, specifically. But you made it look easy. I'm thinking of maybe giving this game another chance.

All the bosses in this game are a matter of reading the tells and knowing how to react. It’s a learning process

So was this guy experimenting with vampire blood or something? Soulslikes are a bit too difficult for me but I love lore.
I'm not too sure as I didn't read much item lore but I wouldn't be surprised.
Did you also feel that the movement and mechanics felt super awkward? To me, this demo just felt unpolished and clunky to play.
It felt awkward with parrying and using sword arts with the two button press to activate. I think there were points where you have to cancel attacks with dodging. It didn't feel super clunky but there's definitely things that could use improvement.
The full game doesn't feel that much better. I had to rage quit at this boss because the game just didn't feel as tight and responsive as I'd like it to. Shame, the aesthetics are gorgeous.

I'm assuming this is the first boss, Pretty good, Attacks were telegraphed well and It has a good difficulty level where it isn't too easy but not hard. Could be a bit more polished but it's ok for a demo

Turns out, he is only the first *important* boss, there are a couple of big thugs before him.

I've been looking forward to this game. It also looks like it has executions similar to Blasphemous but I could only find two enemies I could execute.
@@CrankyTemplar I find it kinda blasphemous-y too xD but personally I call it 2D Bloodborne (mainly becuz of the gothic art style and so) xD even tho the control feels a bit clunky here and there, especially the sword art and parrying thing, I’m still very looking forward to this Metroidvania :))
Why did mc go forward? I would love this game if this, or every oher boss fight, was optional, is it too much to ask?
Generally games in this genre make boss fights, usually with the aim to be challenging, a main feature of the game.
Why would bosses be optional in games, let alone an action RPG? Wth
