you don't need that first half-hitch. The taut-line you tie after that will do the exact same thing.
And any sailor will know that a rolling hitch is a better knot to tie in this instance.

The extra half hitch always worked great for me on the monkey board, to give me extra control on heavy collars running in Bottom Hole Assembly on a drill stem. Maybe there’s more uses than your experience alone 🤷🏻‍♂️

      A question my friend
If the ropes are released, this awning will fold in two, right? I live on the roof of a large house and in the place
It drizzles on winter nights and that makes my floor waterlogged. I was thinking of covering the entire roof with Alusin corrugated sheets, but since I grow my plants and flowers on the roof, I noticed that if I close the roof I will deny my children sunlight. crops. When watching this video, the idea occurs to me of installing a large, foldable awning that, when I release the ropes, will open and fold in two. But my question is whether this would withstand a current of wind that usually runs across my roof? I really appreciate your time and any recommendations you can give me. Thank you, Regards!
