I was at this show. I was 15 and this gig was at the venerable, now defunct Atlanta Drums and Percussion in the performance space in the back. Amazing what you can find on youtube.
wtf 5:54 thats the most insane thing ive ever herd played on the guitar he goes on some long tangent of a deep melodic alien shred!!!!!! its impossible!!!! no human could ever do something like that!!!!!
This is the fastest guitarist I have ever seen,, it almost seems unreal, at certain times in his lead playing on this video,, sort of scary actually, he appears to almost hypnotise himself at those fastest parts of his lead. No joke, he truly IS the fastest player, faster than anyone I've ever seen, period!
Sonny Cannon It's true. All of it. Shawn Lane was the greatest guitarist of our time. Hands down. Trust me, you are right. Even Buckethead considered him to be "the greatest of all time"
The most talented, audacious, tenacious trio ever! Their chemistry was so cohesive, in both studio & live improvisational portions, that were amazing & unmatched for decades to come. A bar in music which has been set, for others to match or exceed,,,that might take awhile🎼🏆😎.
Somewhere out there is a guitarist playing in a bedroom who will one day match or exceed Shawns ability,,am looking forward to the next "next level" player !
I took your suggestion, found a sample with a play button to check out on their site, and they make you download yet another unneeded video player before you can hear it. Too bad; I hope when I go to buy something, they treat me better.
2 Birds1 Stone always hard to label one player the “greatest”. Hard to define - is it skill, influence, timeless riffs etc. That being said, in terms of jazz fusion this is staggering and the virtuosity is thrilling. Watched this a dozen times. Never bored. Will watch it many more times and will look forward to it each time...
I saw them a few days later at the Bayou in Washington DC. They were opening for a generic hippie band the Next Step After a couple songs all the patchouli fans were standing around w/ their jaws on the floor ;) Best moment was right after they finished some ecstatic hippie ran past me yelling at his friends "Did you FUCKIN" see that.OH MY GOD!!!" It was as usual, an most transcendent performance May the memory of the Memphis Monster live on forever ;)
I showed my son this and he asked if Sean was alive. When i said "no" he said "makes sense, everyone this good has to leave early"
Blazing, Amazing, Phrasing. Shawn was the greatest guitarist ever.
Why haven't more people heard of this guy. He is obviously the greatest guitar player on the planet.
The g.o.a.t.
Yep.
日本からです。同意見です😊
I am high on weed...what a performance!
I personally get bored when listening to many guitar greats - but Shawn - I can listen to everyday and NEVER get bored.

Shawn not only mastered guitar but was an amazing keyboard player/pianist. He knew what every note was going to sound like before he played it.
Someone of his ability probably only comes around once every 300 years.
Literally the greatest thing I've heard in a while
This track smokes every single time
wtf 5:54 thats the most insane thing ive ever herd played on the guitar he goes on some long tangent of a deep melodic alien shred!!!!!! its impossible!!!! no human could ever do something like that!!!!!
He plays with Heart, Soul, and Mind........and Miles beyond others
Good God almighty, you appear in many ways...
It's amazing what passes for music these days....
Best fusion trio I have ever heard!!

@@AxiomApe Didn’t Paul Gilbert and Guthrie Govan say the same thing??
@@BRO77TX Yes they sure did. They tip their hats to him. He was just on another level. A guitarist's guitarist so to speak. Genius-Savant.
@@BRO77TX Basically
Outerspace Indian blues fusion!!!
Viva Shawn!
When Shawn comes back in after the bass/drum bit, around the 5 minute mark...freakin' madness. It just doesn't get any better than this.
Exactly. His combined skills on all of the instruments that he played far exceed those of anyone else who has ever lived.
Man do I miss him!
4:56 I've never seen or heard anything like this
Damn right no dislikes!

Agreed! And in my opinion... he's even better on keys!
Played 11 instruments... godly compositions...

5:15 he starts singing the notes ..
He may not be the greatest guitar player ever, but this surely has to
rate as one of the great guitar solos starting from 04:31 on.
He's the greatest ever.
if you check out most of his stuff, you will find him probably as the greatest ever.

You didn’t/couldn’t mention a better player🤔. Brett Garsed is somewhat equivalent. Shawn was a prodigy of our generation🎼🏆😎.
Same year Kurt Rosenwinkel debuted w/ East Coast Love Affair. What a contrast!

And this Van Halen guy is a God????? Hmmm.
