That Roc Raida Diss Wordcut has to be one of the illest of all time in DJ History...This set is definitely in the top 5 of all DMC's ever...Big up DJ Noize!
Incredible skills. The fact that you had to build your set using actual records makes these comps far superior than anything nowadays. Not saying that the skills are lacking today because, in many ways, there are guys with far advanced skills today than from the mid-90's, but nothing will beat the whole 2 turntables, basic mixer and real vinyl DMC competitions. It's like comparing a homerun derby between guys using wood bats and guys using aluminum bats. Kinda the same but totally different. And it's much harder to hit a homer with a wood bat.
The analogue skill on display here is a thing of beauty to watch........ It's like looking into a fine Swiss musical box and seeing the complex beauty of the workings turning to produce that beautiful sound. Real skill.
#5 Is T-La Rock "Runaway" (You wanna battle me? Ha Fool") it was on the Sleeping bag Label #13 is Q-berts "Bionic Booger Breaks" the Street Fighter Section and Karate Movie Section are used.
This is probably still my all-time favorite routine. MAD RESPECT to DJ Noise! I sure hope i get a chance to see Noise at least ONCE, in this lifetime .... Man, now i gotta go peep his 95 set!
workin the 1s & 2s....just vinyls & your skillz...how the DMC has changed for the worst in recent years...this was DJin/DMC at its best...mental....his wordplay is wicked
I have yet to see routine as well executed and planned. As close to flawless as your gonna get. Pure analog. No timecoded vinyl and cue buttons to save your ass. .
That's the very essence of DJ straight Vinyl and skills. Nowadays its computers making things a bit easier but I prefer straight DJing, records after record without using a laptop etc....respects tho to all from old to new just gotta evolve with the new which is just as good too....✌✌✌
If I remember correctly Roc Raida made a slight mistake when he hit the tonearm while beat juggling and there was dead air for a few seconds on his routine, which was still a great one.
Yo anyone know where I can find a vid of Noize's "Ten Crack commandments" routine where he demonstrates ten different scratch styles? Shit is fucking DOPE, seen him about five times but I only saw him do that routine twice in, like '99/2000....any help would be mad appreciated, even if someone could hook me up with an audio....
I watched Noize on VHS so much the tapes ended up dying. DJ with two 1200's and a shitty two channel mixer can still make Dj's using digital CD decks and mixers look amateur.
@ftnrbhmwk I fully agree I know this is old but I tell cats the same thing. Noize relies on the lyrics of the records. , nothing complex, no body movement which SHOULD count. He's too simple real gimmicky that set didn't take much skills but what ever.
I notice a lot of ppl who get on these battle pages hate BODY TRICKS; knowing body trick came battles in the 70's. Ask GRAND MASTER FLASH... All those body tricks Grand Master Roc Raida did while beat juggling. U know how hard it is to make ur own beat wit ur back on the cross fader?? WOW.. No wonder A LOT of NYC DJ'S dont enter the DMC anymore. Thats a BULLSHIT ASS SET dj noize did. THE 8 BALL BATTLE WAS BETTER!!. Now I c Y DJ SCRATCH TOLD RAIDA 2 stop battling n start PRODUCING. R.I.P.
***** Playing big poppa is an old tone trick, anyone can do that. Wordplay alone shouldnt win the worlds, but no one else was good in this battle so he won by default.
That Roc Raida Diss Wordcut has to be one of the illest of all time in DJ History...This set is definitely in the top 5 of all DMC's ever...Big up DJ Noize!
Can you imagine Roc Raider’s face when he did that diss? 😮
🙏🏽R.I.P. Roc Raider
Still in 2023 this set remains one of my favorite sets in DmC

One of the most musical battle DJ's.
Noize is one of the best DJ's I've ever seen.
after all these years I still have to come back and watch this routine every now and then...Noize and Raida both killed it.
The analogue skill on display here is a thing of beauty to watch........ It's like looking into a fine Swiss musical box and seeing the complex beauty of the workings turning to produce that beautiful sound. Real skill.

I used to watch these in highschool wishin i had some technic turntables to turn up too love this lifestyle
Used to have a long mix he did which was incredible, some of the word plays with the likes of Wu Tang, Big E..etc etc was brilliant.
master of wordplay
Probs the best battle Dj ever.
workin the 1s & 2s....just vinyls & your skillz...how the DMC has changed for the worst in recent years...this was DJin/DMC at its best...mental....his wordplay is wicked
Simply the master in wordplay.
That’s the best anyone has dj’d
I have yet to see routine as well executed and planned. As close to flawless as your gonna get. Pure analog. No timecoded vinyl and cue buttons to save your ass. .
You ever see Kentaro's winning world routine of 2002?
Amazing set. He is so musical in his delivery and switches through alot of records. You can tell he has mad research game as well.
the opening routine by Swamp was the most creative of the battle that night, but Noize, Swamp and Raida are some of my favs
Always like watching dj battles

Noize is the shit, he just dont battle he tells a story.
Still so fresh and so clean 🤘

If I remember correctly Roc Raida made a slight mistake when he hit the tonearm while beat juggling and there was dead air for a few seconds on his routine, which was still a great one.
Matthew Salvitti yep that was Raidas only mistake. It didn't matter. After the Big Poppa mix, it was over.
dj noize walked it that year ! .....

DJ Noize is Kick Ass & Roc Raida is Bad Ass!
In the end I see this battle as talk vs actions. My win goes out to Roc Raida!!! R.I.P. BTW.

how could he win against roc raida ?!?
Nope, but you might get lucky and find one for sell on ebay or other sites.
its biggie ft meth - the what :)
ll never understand why this routine won off of wordplay and nothing else.
Wordplay alone? He plays Big Poppa by hand! Talking shit with his hands is his style, but thats not his only trick. Totally deserved this in '96
*****
Playing big poppa is an old tone trick, anyone can do that. Wordplay alone shouldnt win the worlds, but no one else was good in this battle so he won by default.
Speaking of an old tone trick that anyone can do, I challenge you to find a video of someone else doing it.
Roc Raider was in the same competition...
He should have won the year before.
*****
Look up DJ Dwells, he's 13 and he did it. Look up DJ Craze in 1997, he did it also.
Are you trolling? Because it's not very good trolling sir...
when djs are real djs... not skills from laptop and massive software use...
meh roc raida lost badly in 95 and 96 to noize for sure
criminally low views
this guy is really bad
