    this was great! I think something that I have appreciated about your videos as a "new-comer" into the world of audio equipment, is your straight forward descriptors of the components/maintenance that is part of your trade. I still don't know half the things that you are saying and since I have no electrical background I think it will take me ten times as long to figure it out than someone in the profession, but you make it easier to hear. I also, appreciated having adam there to add some context to the amplifier's in terms of how he acquired it, as well as his personal interest in the equipment. I think that this would be a really cool addition to your channel, but understand that it may be more difficult to produce. Thanks for the good content!

    Nice restoration. Especially great work coming up with a solution to replace the old multi section caps with modern caps.

    If I've learned anything about vintage, high output McIntosh amps, The Dead are almost always involved in some way.

    First time seeing your channel and first time seeing these amps. I've worked on a LOT of McIntosh amps, but not these. Subscribed.

    If it weren't for your channel and only several others, I would have left this so-called 'platform' a while ago. Great work on these amps, and good to hear from the dealer as well.

    I think I was at the hoarders home thirty plus years ago.
    One of the things that was memorable was the speakers that used gas for the tweeters.

    From the Western Electric era and the Golden Age of music reproduction. Absolutely beautiful. I hope it ends up with someone who appreciates it not just someone who can afford it!

    They were not used in the shows you mentioned. MC3500's, MC2300 and 2500 were used in the WOS. Woodstock used MI350 or 3500 amps whatever was available. MC275's were used at Woodstock also.

    I always enjoy your videos. I do wish you would put the full details of the work on your youtube channel. I doubt that I’ll go pecking around on instagram.

    You can also use 47uF/1200V DC Link Polypropylene capacitors made by CDE (Mouser), mounted on custom pcb’s to “equal” each cap bank.. They can easily fit (stud threaded) and not too tall.

      I looked into this and the dimensions just did not seem like they would work. I also did not want to add any additional holes to the chassis.

    Between easy to service vs reliability, I'll take reliability every time.

    But but but how does it sound. !!! Never hear about Macintosh known for sound quality _ similar to other amplifiers. None or the popular youtube audio reviewers own Macintosh amps or praise them

    Is it a class A amp?If not which McIntosh amps work in real class A?

    • @NovaluxStereophonic
      @NovaluxStereophonic  7 дней назад +2

      This amplifier is not biased class A. To the best of my knowledge McIntosh has never manufactured a Class A amplifier either vacuum tube or solid state.

    I’m wondering, what they cost back in the day and what their value is today.

    Bozo no no running those DHT tubes on their side! The filament can sag and short to the grid. Run then with the filament either vertical or in the proper plane! Check the tube spec sheet.
