Fed’s Daly Says Some Rate Adjustment Likely Warranted

Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco President Mary Daly said some adjustment to interest rates will likely be warranted given recent data on employment and inflation. Daily told reporters Thursday on a conference call, “with the information we have received to date, which includes data on employment, inflation, GDP growth and the outlook for the economy, I see it as likely that some policy adjustment will be warranted,” though she stopped short of offering a specific timeline for cuts.

I think we need to see one more print consistent with reaching the 2% PCE goal after this one upcoming before cutting. Then 25 bps and see how markets react. Don’t get too crazy. Inflation is a much greater beast to slay than a typical or mild recession.
