  • Alberico was many things, a friend and patron to troubadours, an Occitan poet, a mercenary, and a Podesta. But being politically allied to his notoriously cruel brother Ecelino didn’t help Alberico when he was eventually captured by Papal troops. What was Alberico so guilty of that had caused him to be hated in the Italian city of Treviso? The Middle Ages were violent, pitiless, and revenge-driven times. So today we continue our ‘Day In The Life’ series and travel back in time to see what life was like for Alberico Ezzelino on the worst day of HIS life, the day that he faced his execution. Welcome to Medieval Madness.

Look at the History of Catholicism, Islam or even the Aztec religion; they have killed a multitude of multitudes in the name of “god”. Because we are ourselves throughout the World seeing a breakdown in society, the rules- both written and un-written that deal with how we govern others, are governed by others and how we seek 'justice' when wronged, are all quickly dissolving.
Anyone who thinks we cannot reach this level of barbarity needs to remember that for all our technology, our individual psyche has evolved little in aeons. We are, as someone put it, chimpanzees with i-phones.

@@JS-wp4gsby hurting his family? His family didn’t harm those people, he did. So yes the people who harmed his family should be in the same dark place he’s in. By harming people who were innocent just because they were either married to or related to him is pretty monstrous. No different than him. He was horrible, but so were they. He should’ve been given prison or the death penalty, but him alone, not his wife and kids.
