- This Gentle Hold glue is water-soluble, fabric-safe, and can be used in many different ways. Here I use it to pin my fabric together
Seam Align Glue, by Acorn Precision Piecing Products, is available at most quilting and sewing shops
The quilt in the background is in my book sewveryeasy.podia.com/hand-si... and here is the video • Flowers on the Half-Lo... Хобби
I bought a set of three bottles with that tiny applicator needle on it and I mix Elmer's school glue and warm water. Washes out in one wash and I always wash a quilt, or anything I sew, before gifting it. Usually much cheaper than the "special" glues for quilting. All 3 bottles and a big bottle of glue for the price of 1 bottle of the specialty glue.
This product is a quilting game changer! I use this glue for all my piecing. I just ordered a gallon of the pressing solution...I love it that much!
I bought this a few years ago.... it was 'stupid and grrrr'.... turns out I was using it all wrong!!! I tried it last night with your info and it worked awesome!!! So glad I bought two LOL!!!
You have such a warm, relaxing voice. I would love to have you as a teacher in person, but these videos are great too!
4:30 thank you. I knew about glue basting, but never thought about using it on long strips... Like BORDERS! my borders started going wonky and the project went UFO. Now, between heavy starch and glue basting... I'm going to tame those borders on that quilt restoration! Yippee! ❤🌅🌵😷
I have used this glue and it is awsome! 👍 At first it seemed to be an expensive purchase for the amount of product, but soon realized the joy of sewing without pins with wonderful results. The pressing solution is an excellent product, also providing nicely flattened pressed blocks.
I absolutely love this glue! Makes my sewing so accurate.
Love love love this hack!
Thank you for this idea; some days pinning is a pain..
Beautiful Block. I don't have the patience for quilting, but I do enjoying your watching you put them together and others also.
Thank you so for showing this!
Yeah! The little red and white machine is back. I missed it in the background. Will be trying the glue trick.
Makes so much sense...thanks Laura
Love watching all the tips you give use
What a wonderful demonstration!
Love this idea!
Another great tip and fine demonstration, thank you!
Looks like a great product! Very helpful!
Excellent tutorial Laura! Thanks!
Love this especially be brilliant for applique. Thank you Laura 🌸
Wow phenomenal tutorial, thank you!
A wonderful idea Laura ! Thanks for sharing and showing.
Wow, love this!
Thanks for showing this procedure
This is wonderful! And I have to tell you I absolutely love your fingernail polish!!!
BRILLIANT!! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this technique Laura!
Great infomation, you make nice quilts.
Love this tip! Thank You! And I really like the nail color
Thank you for showing others how to use glue. Love all your videos & hope I can add to this. I have been using Elmer's Washable School Glue for years. I glue on my entire binding on a quilt then machine sew from the front because the back is perfectly glued in place including perfectly mitered corners. Works great to glue on a pocket then sew it on, no bulky pins. Glue in a zipper before sewing. Star points are glued first, perfect points. Matching fabric stripes & designs before sewing two pieces together as for borders.
Great to glue on appliques before machine stitching on. You will find a ton of uses for glue. I am sure this glue is wonderful but I buy mine for 50 cents during school supply sales. It all washes out. I would rather spend my money on other fun supplies, most of which you have shown us! Thank you very much for your videos. You are appreciated! I am just cheap!😄
Beautiful block. That glue is definitely on my shopping list!
Clever idea which would be useful for all kinds of seams. It will save a lot of wonky seams! I'll have to see what I can find here in UK. Thank you. I've had a look and yes, we can buy it here :-)
Laura is an excellent teacher
What a fantastic idea, will work for all my sewing projects, thank you
I love using this glue.
Love this. Don’t have to worry about sewing over pins
I love this it was fantastic how square your fabric was... I can't wait to try it
I was skeptical about glue basting when I first heard about it. Once I tried it, though, I was a convert. The precision you get with it can't be beat.
Wonderful tip. Thank You!
Wow, I can see how this would really help with accuracy! Brilliant!
Really anxious to get this glue. It will help in so many ways.
Hello Laura: very interesting🤔. Thank you for ALL that you share!!! ❤️😀
Thank you. Very informative and helpful.
Thank you for a very informative tutorial. Judy
I use glue basting for applique, paper piecing, and for glue basting my bindings (white school glue or applique glue in a similar bottle) but have not done it for piecing. Will definately give it a go for this process, especially for bias edges! I rarely pin because I invariably stab myself, lol! Happy sewing
Great video Laura!! Thanks so much! It’s hard to find this product in stock online, but I finally found a place to order. 👍🏼
Beautiful pattern and fabric too!!
Just order some from my quilt shop that is so cool, So many way to use this besides quilting.
I have used glue for years. Piecing, keeping binding corners in place, and those tricky little seams
Wow looks amazing stuff! I will defo be buying some, hopefully I can get it in the U.K.!
Wow, I will have to apply that method. Acorn glue seems better than the Roxanne glue. Thanks for sharing another great way to sew
This is fantastic, thank you so much. I have considered this type of pinning but never had a proper glue.
Oh I love it! Thanks for showing how you use it, and the fact that it doesn't stretch the fabric even if you have to reposition it.
I love this product and it is Canadian made!
Got my glue on order ! Thanks for the tip.
Nice! Can do the glue piecing while watching a TV program for sewing later. Won't have to heat set the glue since the glue will have already dried, or can be heat set with a small travel iron. I also like how accurately the quilt blocks come out and the seam intersections match up. Brilliant!
I love this idea! Prep time is good, then you can focus on sewing when the light is good During the day time!
I've heard glue basting is great on curves too. Lots of people use it on English Paper Piecing. ❤🌅🌵😷
Yes! This is one of my main uses for these tiny glue dots. Works great! Prep lots of pieces ahead of sewing time. No straight pins! Exact glue placement instead of a glue stick. Smooth curves and sharp corners! No pin pricks! No blood on your fabric! It's a winner! Why wouldn't everyone piece with this modern-day wonder!
Gracias por compartir sus proyectos desde Colombiaa bendiciones para todos los días 🙏
The glue dots on the jelly roll strips will be great! Even with a walking foot the top strip slips. I can't wait to try it. Thanks!
I just recently started using glue. Especially at seams I want to perfectly match (4 patch, nine patch, etc) and I love how accurate it is!
This glue is awesome. Better than Elmer's or any other glue I've ever tried.
I can see this being very useful on borders
I've never thought about gluing seams. I converted to glue basting a awhile back. Interesting. I like the idea of gluing points.
It's really great and then you don't have to worry about sewing over pins or fabric moving. And it takes the headache out of having to keep pinning. :) It is really a game changer.
Good morning
I always look forward to seeing your video’s. I have done this with Elmers Glue but it isn’t as precise. The needle type applicator on this glue is a much better way. Thank you so much
Brenda
This is genius!!!! Thank you so much for sharing, It drives me bonkers when the fabric slides slightly. I'll definitely be doing this with quilting from now on. Thank you so much for sharing. Lee :)
It really makes things so much easier! Fabric sliding is very frustrating and Seam Align really makes it so the fabric won't budge. :)
New glue. Thank you!!
Great tutorial! I have been using glue basting for my bindings for years! I use Elmers school glue in a squeeze bottle with a tiny tip just like yours and follow a fabulous tutorial by Sharon Schamber! I bought my container at Michael’s or Walmart a few years ago, in a package of 3.
Hello from one crafting channel to another!
WOW must get a bottle of this glue keep a eye out for it at local quilt shop
Thank you Laura! I love that Lemoyne star pattern. Please let us know where we can purchase it.
This is amazing! I might use this to finish up my QAYG quilt, using pins on 1 inch joining strips is difficult and worrying about loss of accuracy is nerve wracking.
You'll love it! Seam Align is so much easier and more accurate than pins. :)
I haven’t tried it yet but I heard a trick w this glue and machine binding a quilt. The glue holds it in place so no guessing. I’m going to use it w two color from back binding
Wow!
Thank you, Laura!
Are you pressing on a Wool mat? If yes, do you recommend it?
I want that glue......... fantastic......
Really enjoyed the video, as always. Wondered, are you putting glue extremely close to edge so you never sew over it?
I've been using glue sticks when needed instead of pins for awhile now, pins distort. I can make perfect flying geese. This way too.
A tip: you can watch series on Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Justus Yael definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since december myself :D
Hi from Sunny San Diego! Heartfelt thoughts to those of you in cold areas of the country.
It's warmer in Florida@ God bless.
Living in Michigan, this can be the prettiest time of the year since the snow is sparkly with the sun shining on it. It helps to know spring is on the way, though!
I bet deep down inside you really miss making snow men and snow angels! ☃️For me, I'm hoping for sandy sunny beaches right now! 🌴
Laura always does an excellent job on her videos.
I grew up in Florida and moved to California after grad school. So never lived in snow, so I can’t miss it. 😁
Everyone seems to be out of this product. Is it still being made?
I found it easily on Amazon, great prices too
Gosh, I can see this in so many places. I just did a plaid shirt, trying to match placket, pocket, side seams ...
Hi Laura, can you also use this for curved pricing? Will it work? Love your videos, always helpful. Where can you purchase this product?
What is the name of the block you’re making? It gorgeous
Great idea Laura! Will the glue gum up your needle? Also, does it make the material stiff?😎
It does not gum up the needle.
There's a lot of glue basting options (including Elmer's School glue). The secret is the tiny, tiny dots of glue for easy release or basting. If you are sure that's where you want it a thicker bead of glue is more permanent (or VERY difficult to pull apart). But using a washable glue (like Laura's using or Elmer's) means that if it's difficult to pull apart, soak in water to dissolve the glue. Some washable glues will take washing (not just a soak) to dissolve the glue. Also, some glues are more needle friendly than others. So, if your glue, isn't, place your glue just inside the seam allowance. 💜🌞🌵😷
Great tip!!!❤👍👍👍👍👍❤ Thank you for sharing. I❤tour channel❤
I watch your videos all the time I'm noticing you use an Oliso iron. I have had the worst luck with them. The company is pretty easy to deal with however I seem to go through one every 6 months. They start leaking and it's the only iron I have ever used that builds up these little white sandy things that spit out of it like dust. It's been horrible. Just wondering what kind of luck you've had with yours? I love the automatic lift feature so dummy me keeps buying them. I also like the weight of it. And I also like the way it feels in my hand. Such a shame. I wish they could figure out why they leak so much. One of them that they sent me after I had a problem with another one arrived all rusted around the edge. Contacted them immediately and sent pictures and they sent me another one. 3 months later it was leaking. I have finally given up. Back to my fifteen dollar iron I have had for 20 years.
Are you still making this product shown in the video with the tiny nib? Most websites I have been to show out of stock and Amazon lists as not known if it will once again be in stock. Really only interested in the container with the TINY nib as I tend to have a very heavy hand
❤❤❤
If you press the seams open, does the glue muck up the iron at all?
No not at all :)
When pressing the seam open from the wrong side will any glue residue stick to the bottom of the iron? Use a pressing cloth maybe?
There will be no residue.
@@bernietobisch996 Thank you Bernie. I just finished your last book and enjoyed it very much!
@@cindymcfarland4686 Thanks Cindy, much appreciated!!
So, can you just reset it with the heat instead of replying the glue?
Also, does it create a residue on your needle?
You would reapply. There is no residue on the needle or hard spot on the fabric.
@@bernietobisch996 thanks!
I would like to see the link to the glue product but it’s not there?
What happens if you don't wash it out? Or if your quilt top becomes a UFO for a while? And do you feel any bumps when you go feed motion quilting?
You won't know it's there.
Can this glue be used on Fleece or Flannel?
👍👍👍👍💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻I hope I can find in SA🇿🇦
Absolutely awesome!!! Thank you so much for this tip. I've looked into Amazon and they don't seem to carry this brand, but they do have Roxanne Glue Baste it. Would this be the same or similar? I have soooooo much trouble keeping things even and my points sharp. Appreciate you sharing your tips. Stay warm and healthy. Hugs from Canada!
They are different. Roxanne is a great product when you need a stronger hold. It will not come apart easily when you want it to.
@@bernietobisch996 Thanks so much, Bernie. Now, any idea where I can buy the Acorn stuff? Amazon has always been my go-to for stuff like this and I love this idea so much, I have to get it.
@@cheryl8280 If your local quilt store doesn't have it, then I'd try The Quilt Show. If they are out, The Fat Quarter Shop. There are other on-line retailers as well.
@@bernietobisch996 Thanks again, Bernie. I found it on Etsy but it's out of stock. So I may just take you up on the idea of Fat Quarter Shop. When something is this good, it sure goes fast!!
Amazon does carry this. Acorn Easy precision piecing but also includes the easy pressing which is great for flat seams. I love and use both products.
Just found this product. Do you still glue?
Respected madam is glue available on Amazon online shopping in India please give me reply I am your great fan and subscriber🙏
here it is in the US amzn.to/2SYqHKR hope that helps
Oh dear not available in the UK and the postage costs from the States is more than the cost of the glue😞
If you have a friend in US who is sending you a package they can tuck in a glue bottle to save on postage. We have to send things from US to Canada now because we can't travel and I understand your shipping charges pain! Ouch!
@@roxannetoufexis4487 Thanks but do not know anyone in the States.
Hi 🙋♀️
Do you use a dry iron when piecing or is it steam?
Use a dry iron. You are trying to dry and set the glue, steam adds moisture you don't need at this step.
The link Doesn’t seem to work. Am I doing this wrong? And the other link for the quilt would not work either
