    As a Cavs fan i had been really looking forward to this game, games like these are like measuring sticks to see how far along we wre in our progression. I really wish these teams wouldnt do this

    The biggest problem is it’s to hard to watch games. Games used to come on regular TV and now you have to have cable or a streaming site. Then once you have cable or the streaming service they block your team out and you have to find another way to watch it like downloading Bally’s sports. They’re no longer btw and I had to download fan dual. Meanwhile football, baseball, and even some hockey games are easier to watch. Older people don’t wanna use the internet to watch local games!

      Thank you! I have been saying the same thing. They don't bring this up because THE NBA is part of this problem. Outside of some of the viewing points that you brought up, the only way the average person is watching games is when TNT starts programming them.

  • @mashannon01
    @mashannon01 17 часов назад +5

    The pace of play and the style aren't the problem. The problem is it's incredibly difficult to watch most games that aren't nationally televised. All of these RSNs have had carriage disputes with most of the major cable/satellite providers leading to the decrease in distribution of the channels and watching on streaming is hard because of the price and poor quality of the apps. If the NBA got rid of blackouts and controlled the streaming rights, it would be way easier to watch leading to more people watching the games.

    I am 80 years old, seen basketball when there was no 3pointer, all they did was throw the ball to the big guy back the defender down then dunk, that was boring. The 3 pointer opened the game up for all the players, but like you say there are too many 3 pointers, if you can just let the defender defend, maybe there would not be so many.

    I’m so pissed. I JUST bought tickets hoping to watch my favorite player in Giannis go against my favorite team. $120 a pop. Paying for the tickets and knowing these dudes are just ducking a game is so corny and makes me so upset with being a fan.

      They didn't duck the game. They said during the NBA Cup that Lillard was playing through an injury. It sucks but he was always gonna miss this game. Middleton missed the championship game as well. If anyone is ducking, it would only be Giannis because he won't have his co stars

    Said it before and I will say it again. Everyone is attempting to come up why ratings are dropping. Three point shots, fouls, load management, whatever. The main issue is pace of play. People pay to watch guys play basketball not stand around.

    • @thacryinggame
      @thacryinggame 18 часов назад

      Nope it’s because every player plays the same. End of story.

      @@thacryinggame Yea sorry I just disagree. I get where you guys are coming from. But the product on tv stinks because they dont have any consistent playing time. With the NFL or MLB you know as a viewer pretty much when commercial breaks are coming. With the NBA they happen all the time. Timeouts, tv timeouts, reviews, fouls forever at the end of games. People want to watch basketball. Again MLB figured this out they understood that when people turn on the tv they want to watch people play baseball. Not throw over to first 19 times, or have 12 pitching changes in two innings. But hey if they want to keep on doing this good luck.

      It’s clearly access to broadcasts that’s causing ratings to decline. Availability of stars also probably has an impact, but the pace of play means basically nothing with basketball viewership.

    Is this also a sign from Bucks coaching that if 1 or 2 of their star players are out, they're just going to rest their best because to basically throw the game? They've been fighting over the last few weeks to get back into playoff contention record-wise. Maybe they go from a coin-toss to a 25% chance to win against the cavs with their starters out, but think that will boost their win percentage over the next 10 games by resting them? If so, this is more analytics ruining the product.

  • @mikecurran4782
    @mikecurran4782 19 часов назад +1

    Does this feel more like the Bucks arent playing the cavs with their best players so they dont know what they might face in the playoffs? No grounds for familiarity going into a possible playoff matchup?

  • @stephaniechaffin1154

    Load Management, Too difficult to watch the games, No defense (Bring back hand checking), Too many weak fouls called, Too much traveling and carrying the ball not called and just flat out terrible distribution of coverage on ESPN unless you are in LA, NY or Boston (They STILL don't cover the Cavs). Lastly, the distribution of stars isn't very good. Back in the day (So to Speak) almost every team had a star on it, now they buddy up and treat the smaller market teams as their farm teams. I've been watching the NBA since Magic and Bird entered the league and I wouldn't pay to go to a game now for anything. Half the time the other teams players don't play and it takes a lot away from the enjoyment of going there when their best players sit. Why pay for parking, the ticket etc.

    I miss the days of people driving to the rim getting dunks on some one instead of Stef Curry putting up a3 every time, it's boring, grab a rebound and shoot another 3 😅 I'm 44 played basketball and watched Jordan and the greats , it's became boring

  • @ryuujinusa
    @ryuujinusa 15 часов назад

    I don't think 3s are the problem. There's a reason why Steph Curry is one of the most famous players, ever. It's more about downtime, and constant foul drawing/flopping/embellishing, whatever you want to call it. Embiid for example (and he's one of MANY) who only go out to draw fouls it seems like. THAT is the problem.

    I went back and watched full games from the 80s and 90s too. There was way more isolation. Way less ball movement save a couple teams. Way less skill. The defense was also not what the nostalgia people tell you it was.
    NBA has problems but you guys are stuck with a false perception of the past. Watching the first stint LeBron Cavs play 73-61 games vs the pistons wasn’t fun either. Eric snow and flip Murray etc spotting up from 17 feet clogging the whole floor

    The reason are many:
    1. Too many games in a season. Greedy owners.
    2. The officiating is suspect. Not just the cavs but the entire league. People are not stupid and know if they are watching "pro wrestling." The non calls on the so called "stars."
    3. The media local and national is HORRIBLE. Lakers and Boston are not the only teams in the league. The media focus on the so called "stars" is suffocating. Locally, in Cleveland they spent the entire Cavs season saying D Mitchell would leave. Instead of interviewing the guy they speculated and pushed a stupid uniformed narrative. Disgusting.
    4. The paywall the NBA put up to watch games harms the league.
    5. I know this hurts many people feeling but the pre show with Shaq and Barkley is horrible. These guys are unserious. I am sure you can find some ex players who act like they want to cover the games and give informed takes on the teams.
    The 3 point shot and load management are the least of the leagues problems.
