I am currently a remote junior and when developing remotely I find it easier to ask questions. I can share my screen and go through the problem just as easily. I feel more comfortable asking questions remotely than in person. I also save 1-2 hours traveling every day and can manage time to live my life outside of work.
Hey Michael, I just want to say that your videos truly help me to continue pushing myself to learn how to code, to wake up super early every (most) morning’s and to keep pushing hard to get my first software development job. I’ve been learning and studying for 6 months now and been watching your videos the entire time and honestly was mega hyped for you when you got that first job! You’re like a year or so ahead of me and I honestly look up to you as a teacher and somebody that’s really done it. You really help a lot of people man and I wish only happiness and success for you and your future! 🙌🏼
My ideal is to work hybrid at my first developer job, there’s something about being in person that I feel like I would benefit from. I’m currently working fully remote at my IT job and while it’s nice, I feel like I could learn so much more by being in the same environment as my coworkers. When I just started working my role, I became friends with more experienced people on my account (had to reach out via DM to break the ice) and they became awesome mentors to help me in my development!
I landed my first developer job a year ago, it's fully remote since everyone else is in another country, it's been awesome so far, I'm not very social and I don't like commuting so it all lined up pretty well for me. As for the programming, we have daily stand ups where we discuss our tasks, and also we have weekly dev meetings where we discuss new things in the dev world, review some of our code base, solve interesting problems and so on. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything even though I'm one of three people who are working remotely, everyone else is hybrid. I don't know if I would ever consider an on-site job after this experience, wfh is so awesome!
Hey mate where did you find the company you're working for rn and are they hiring XD I'm struggling to find a remote jr dev job so just needed some more leads to work off of
If you're a jr. part of the job is continuing to learn. The time spent via commute, walking up stairs, etc. is time that could be spent just in front of the computer and grinding learning more information. For me, every minute counts. It would be lucky for a jr. developer to work remotely. Another example: I have a desktop/triple monitor setup with a long desk...it would be hard to replicate my environment and level of comfort which greatly improves my efficiency in an office environment where people are making noise, asking random questions, holding conversations...just would really impact me especially as I am trying to both perform my new job and learn how to do more new job effectively.
my current work is my first ever work and it is hybrid and i can assure u its thousand times better to have hybrid rather than full remote because i learn alot when i went to office. it is much easier and comfortable with me and my senior to ask to each other.
My big issue working from home is that I can't separate my work environment from my private environment. My desk is in my living room so I have a hard time concentrating. When I'm somewhere else where there is a dedicated workspace then it's all fine.
How many hours do you work daily? I just joined a company and im hoping to be able to enjoy my day after completing my work. Currently im assuming that if I am able to complete my task early or make good progress I can enjoy sometime off doing something else.
