    I broke two separators and then later learned that a good whack with the hammer (under pressure) is the secret. Not knowing that yet, I used a pickle fork, which I had to modify by shortening the tines. Worked great.

    Hello I’m wondering how many hours these replacements took in total? And do you think it will be possible with the stock struts, being that the struts in stock suspension is longer than coil overs?

    My friend, could you tell me please how large is the first joint separator you used? Joint thickness 20mm or 30mm? For normal e39 not M

    Your rotors were swapped when installed. The fins inside the rotors should be sucking in air, the way you have them installed they do not cool as efficiently.

    Nice video, many thanks. Quick question, what do you think of the quick jack?

    • @NoGaragE30
      @NoGaragE30  Год назад

      I love it! If you work on your cars enough to find yourself using jack stands several times a year, the QJ is well worth the investment. So much easier and safer to work with.

    I have a BAD vibration at just under 1000 rpm and it gets a little bit smoother at higher rpm. I just replaced my giubo and center support bearing but the vibration did not go away. It vibrates even while revving in park. Could it be the thrust arms?

    • @marceloalarcon6058
      @marceloalarcon6058 Год назад

      if you're revving in park then presumably you're not moving.. so I wouldn't think it's any suspension components.

  • @kribaska

    Did it fix the vibrations? I keep having vibrations at highway speed with freshly balanced wheels

    • @NoGaragE30
      @NoGaragE30  Год назад

      Absolutely. I also have all new suspension components by now, but that is a common issue with these cars.

    Nice video, I did mine just last weekend. Use a dead blow since I was replacing the whole arm. Wondering where did you get that ball joint separater... everywhere I look they are 2 and 1/4 max depth and that is not even enough for your tie rods.

      Thanks! The big one is the Schwaben 20-80mm ball joint removal tool. Ordered from ECS here: www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben-parts/ball-joint-removal-tool-20-80mm/008958sch01a~sch/

      @@NoGaragE30 it looks like you need an extractor about 70mm tall to fit it over the control arm at 3:47, is that right? or would 50mm work?

    • @NoGaragE30
      @NoGaragE30  2 года назад

      @@gigel99324 Correct. The standard ball joint separator goes to 51mm and that wasn't enough, which is why I ordered the Schwaben that goes up to 80mm.

    Is ball joint seperator necessary? Could i just hammer the ball joint out :D?

    • @NoGaragE30
      @NoGaragE30  2 года назад

      Im sure you can, if you manage to get the right angles in these tight spaces and dont care about potential damage to aluminum parts. The tool is worth every penny. I used a hammer and pickle fork with ball joints on my E30 once, and that was enough to never do it again. You could also rent these tools from your local auto parts store, usually free of charge, if you dont think you will use it more than once.

    Thanks so much with your helpful video.l have been trying to replace the control arms with the help of Autodoc video above.although l have the same type of ball joint seperator,l couldnt use it because it was so quick that l could replace mine.anywhere l ended up thinking that everything was loosened for the purpose of filming.l was desperate until l learnt of a biger wishbone seperater.Thanks and Well done.
