    Out of curiousity, how many of you knew these candidates for Master Ash beforehand, and did the video adjust your theory at all?

    First time I've heard this theory of Brayden using Greystones to travel this is a crazy good theory and he could possibly teach Kvothe to use them too

    I never really looked into theories. Just happened to see this video and stopped to make sure Bredon was mentioned. Seems absurdly obvious. That and Denna enchanting men with her hair were the only things i guessed at. I do not believe its Cinder in the slightest.

  • @whynotdean8966

    I skimmed over a couple parts of this video so I don't know if you go into it, but Rothfuss has said that he added a ton of stuff to book 2 that was never planned.
    Notably one of the things he added to book 2 was Tak. This could imply that Bredon was also a late addition to book 2.
    If that's true, then Denna's patron was probably originally supposed to be Cinder, but Rothfuss changed his mind when he added Bredon.

    Braedan explaining the custom of the rings to a foreigner, I think he meant when he explained it to Kvothe just a few days before. Kvothe smiles and says that was kind of you. It's possible Kvothe misunderstood and thought Braedan meant him, but I dont think so.

    Can we get a who is Bredon is because I think he is Baron Greyfallow

    • @kingkillerpodcast
      @kingkillerpodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Unless he has some magical glammour I don't think that'd be possible. Kvothe knew Baron for years and should have been old enough to remember what he looked like. Do you have evidence or reasoning to think he's Greyfallow?

    • @jordancollins2553
      @jordancollins2553 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@kingkillerpodcast He would certainly remember Kvothe by the red hair and if Kvothes father was as much of an asset as I think he was It means that Greyfallow would place interest in Kvothe and want to test him in ways. Idk it also ties into that I think the Rue have been hunted down in the past because they make perfect spies and breed special talents. So

    • @kingkillerpodcast

      @@jordancollins2553I certainly think he'd know Kvothe, but I don't see how Kvothe wouldn't also know him by sight. I don't know how you could forget such an important figure from your childhood, who you knew just a few short years ago. Especially if he is sitting right in front of you. So, if it is him, I think he'd have to be using magic to disguise himself. I'm not sure why the secrecy in that case though.

      Let me grab WMF copy because his clothing also suggests this as well but Im not so sure he would remember what the good Barron looked like. He was maybe 8 years old last time he saw him 10 at best. He is what 16 at this point.

      He was 12 when the Chandrian killed his family and we’re talking about a character with near perfect memory. It was only a handful of years ago and this was an extremely important figure in his life.

  • @Driver-EAZYaegis
    @Driver-EAZYaegis 7 месяцев назад +2

    At this point I’d be kind of disappointed if is Cinder. He seems to obvious. If Cinder is the patron does that mean Denna is training to be chandrian? More likely she’s training to be amyr. Second read through I thought it wasn’t cinder but never picked up on Bredon. Fits great thanks guys

    • @kingkillerpodcast
      @kingkillerpodcast  7 месяцев назад +2

      You're welcome. I think Bredon is the more interesting choice, as I think the revelation would be more conflicting for Kvothe. He has such vehement hatred for Master Ash, and discovering it is some man he respects and likes would create a lot of inner turmoil. Of course Rothfuss could write an amazing story where Cinder is the patron, but I think that is the less interesting choice and I'm not sure how he'd square away some of the issues I brought up in the video with that choice.

    • @roblewis8227
      @roblewis8227 7 месяцев назад +2

      If Dena is training to be Amyr then her song about Lanre makes no sense. I personally think that Denas story will be parallel to Kvothes but she is training with the Chandrian. Eventually she will stab him in the back, giving him the one new scar on his back that we see in the beginning of NOTW.

    • @kingkillerpodcast
      @kingkillerpodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Seems weird he’d have Selas flowers planted at the Waystone Inn for a girl who stabbed him in the back while working for the people who murdered his family.
      I also don’t think she is training to be an Amyr.

    • @roblewis8227
      @roblewis8227 7 месяцев назад

      @kingkillerpodcast8559 Rothfuss has said that Kvothe is a tragic Cassanova. If Dena had got herself involved with the chandrian without knowing it and got herself killed in process, I could see Kvothe still loving her.
      It's one of the best and most annoying parts of this series. Everytime you think you have worked out a theory, someone reminds you of something that shits all over it

    • @kingkillerpodcast
      @kingkillerpodcast  7 месяцев назад

      Yeah she’d have to be an unwitting victim of the Chandrian’s influence rather than participating and purposefully stabbing him in the back for it to make sense to me. Still pining for a girl who intentionally worked with the people who brutally murdered your family would be a bridge too far for me.

    While Kvothe is talking to Threpp about Denas patreon, Threpp says "maybe he likes playing bandit in the woods". There are too many clues without it being Cinder

    Master Ash is definitely not Cinder, and definitely not one of the Chandrian. He is literally promoting a ''SINGER''. One of the classes of people that the CHandrian fear are the singers. We hear them discuss out of their own mouths. I believe Master Ash is one of the enemies of the Chandrian, maybe a Syth.

    • @kingkillerpodcast

      Could be although singers could be more than just someone who sings songs. I suspect it’s a specific group of people who have magically qualities to their singing.

      I’m not sure if you got to that part but we discuss the theory that Bredon is Cinder. I don’t think it works because of things the Cthaeh says, as well as a few other problems for it to work that way.

    I think that the Kthae saying "stick by the Maer, he will lead you to their (Aymer) door" tjis might be the door of death. In the scene where the Amyr are "created", it says they are on fire, and then are no longer visible to anyone, so possibly become immortal spirits? Also we have good reason to believe that the Mayer is dead in the future war. This also seems to be a pun by the Kthae. I have no evidence to back this up

      @@kingkillerpodcastThere is a line in the book, when Hemme's leg is burned that his face is described as going "ash" or something like that. Also, K and E burn up Hemme's belongings. Another fun thing, is Hemme might need a cane as his leg is injured, not unlike the patron. Also, where do we actually know where Denna's patron has been? Another odd thought about it, Hemme teaches rhetoric, which you will notice is also the same as the book K was given by Abanthy. i find that a strange coincidence. He also, is not a minor character, as he ends up the head of the school, will likely play a hand in K's expulsion, and has already had him whipped twice. Another fine line of reasoning is that Denna is connected to Jackass, Hemme is as well, perhaps that is how they met. Also, why wasn't Hemme wearing his gram? We could consider his arrogance, but if the the threat to the masters is so intense that they all wear won all the time, it is strange that Hemme would not. The one major problem with all of this, is like you said with travel, but as you can see travel in KKC is not exactly linear. For instance, if you walk far enough you will eventually pass through Tenue--some city that travelers magically stumble upon. Plus, who is to say what distances are with gray stones, folding houses, and the fay. My final musing with this is that Brendan would not need to hide is identity. What would a random person from half way across the world need this level of secrecy, a master would need this.
      This is all probably worng, but it is just a thought.
      Also, I have been telling people I know who read these books about your podcast.
