Fun facts from opening this ride :)
1. The mid course use to completely stop you during testing. The park and programmer (altech) worked real hard to ensure it had at least some momentum over the second drop.
2. The ride will run a lot faster through the mid course with a full train. You can tell because with a full train, you will begin falling when Dr. Diabolical says “scream” for the second time.
3. You can tell immediately how intense and fast your ride will be before you even go down the first drop. The coaster running at its normal speed will drop when Dr. D says “life.” If you drop earlier, its running fast. If you drop when she’s already laughing, its running real slow.
great indicators!
It's just great to see B&M and Six Flags working together again.
what do you mean? b&m and cedar fair work together all the time /joking
yeah and there is a new one on the way at six flags dorney park
selim said in interviews one of his big goals is more theming on the major rides at every park and used this as an example, will be interesting to see if any of that happens
fingers crossed!
Am I the only one who is glad more Dive Coasters are being built? Dr. Diabolical, Iron Menace, etc...
Probably considering that probably 99% of thoosies sh!t on them lmao
To be perfectly honest dive coasters are among my least favorite models. Even the best of them are pretty gentle and boring to me. The GP eat them up though so it's a good thing for parks.
@@lyingdogfacedponysoldier201 As someone who has only done oblivion, I'm a bit confused. Did they make them more gentle after doing the first as oblivion is pretty intense (obviously it doesn't have much of a layout)
@MGMutt newer b&m's are just better profiled I suppose after they ironed out that 90s roughness, aaand the vest restraints suck......
@@MGMuttno,
It's just coaster enthusiast that meh with it in the first place.
Anything beyond Oblivion is obviously gonna be better than Oblivion itself
Was so excited that Fiesta Texas was getting a dive coaster and they definitely did not disappoint! Whenever the trains are full and the coaster is operating during park hours, the shake is not as bad and the mid course does not slow you down as much as seen in the video. Overall an incredible addition to the park, it’s a must ride every time I visit!
I've heard from a fiesta texas official that it runs rattly because B&M had to redesign the entire train down to the wheel boagies so its essentially a prototype. The base of the train is also redesigned so there doesn't need to be a movable floor so that could also affect the roughness. I do think that Iron Menace might fix that issue but we'll have to see!
Why did they have to redesign the trains? If it ain't broke don't fix it??
@@LLLLLLLLLucasIt’s the first one to have 7 rows and without a floor drop so even with little change it brings the possibility to create new issues. this usually happens with first of its kind trains such as Pipeline and its rattle
@@LLLLLLLLLucasthe train also has "less steel" than 6 row diver to make up with extra seat and still run fine with standar B&M track
Honestly, I was very happy that you said with your current favorite dive coaster being at my home park. This video was a very entertaining and I hope you keep on going. Thank you for making us happy with this content.
Just rode this yesterday for the very first time and I AM OBSESSED!
I've love the part when I saw the first drop when the audio played and it was freaky and I love the first drop and the 95 degree angle is lit and sick! and it was a great ride experience!
Just rode it before Christmas. It was so smooth. Great ride.
I remember how much I absolutely loved this thing. It gave much stronger airtime than SheiKra even though it had vests. It had really good ejector in the back on both drops and the layout is really good. Even the hill at the end gave airtime. It also has pretty strong positive Gs on the turns at the end. It definitely didn't look like it gave as stro g airtime for you guys because the train wasn't full and they were running it differently with the brakes. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the best B&M Dive.
I'm glad Six Flags came back to working with B&M to add this masterpiece that is such a good fit. The themeing is outstanding as well.
Yukon Striker will always be my favourite!! 🙌
Emperor has developed a noticeable rattle too. During the valleys especially on the back row outer seats. The ride is smoother if you sit in on the middle two seats or the front row. Maybe it is just an issue with how they trains were built.
I think the big slowdown on the mid course brake run is due to the onboard audio that plays in that spot. I think it was building up anticipation for the second half. Just as a coaster, if you take out the theme, then yeah, it kinda sucks. It reminds you of Goliath at Magic Mountain. I was actually not expecting the immersive story in the queue line when I went, and I loved it. As far as dive coasters go, Sheikra was more enjoyable for me. The mid course didn’t slow down like this one did. I wasn’t able to ride Wonder Woman or Poltergeist during my visit, as both were closed, but I agree with your top two picks for sure. Goliath and Road Runner Express would round out my list for this park, after this one.
I really like the colors it has.
As someone who rode this ride this past summer, I didn’t notice the shake as much, but maybe it is a newer issue. Btw, great vid! 👍
My most recent rides were at the beginning of December, and it was riding very smooth.
Omg I’m going on it right now!!
Great addition for the park. Nice that there is good themeing as well. It's a shame that in my experience, the pre-show is just full of people who could not care less about it. But still a good job.
As a Texas coaster enthusiast, I finally rode this ride this past December and was only able to get one ride. Maybe it was me, but I found this ride shockingly intense!!! And I've been under the impression that dive coasters are not intense. I felt some strong Gs on those tight turns. And I got some nice floater airtime on that sharp hill! And I thought it was smooth! Definitely smoother than Superman Krypton Coaster or even WWGLC. I have the roller coasters as followed:
1. WWGLC
2. IRat
3. Poltergeist
4. Dr. Diabolical's CliffHanger
5. Superman Krypton Coaster
I can't wait to check out Emperor this year.
My dream in to interview all the COASTER icons !! An COASTER STUDIES IS LIKE A TOP STANDARD!😂😂
Yeah ngl I was disappointed when they pretty much ended the theming before the station. From what they had in the concept art looked really cool but I’m bummed they didn’t continue. When the coaster was in the process of being constructed, I assumed they’d revisit the station theming 😔, same with the supports. But that’s the only complaint I have, still satisfied of what we got to my homepark.
Great review, I honestly have no idea what causes this dive coaster to be as rough as it was. I rode it about 4 times and felt like some sections of the track had pot holes . At least, what it felt like. Overall a great ride though.
I was surprised to hear you say that it was shaky. It must have been having an off day. It has always ridden quite smooth for me, unless I sit in the back row on an edge seat. Those 2 seats are very shaky, but just one seat over, and it's very smooth. The mid-course also hasn't hit that hard for me, not like I saw in your video, and actually less than other dive coasters I've ridden. It's my # 3 in the park, with Poltergeist & IR ahead of it, and Wonder Woman and Superman a little behind it.
Hope Six Flags does more and makes one with a 100 Degree Drop
for me, dr. diabolical's cliffhanger is one of the smoothest rides in the park and I didn't get a single jolt or rattle, although mabey it was just my ride.
Still only managed to get on oblivion as a dive coaster, hoping to try baron at efterling this year
As an enthusiast, not a huge fan of dive coasters but I still think they have value.
Taylor you can put a pretzel loop on a x2 type of rollercoaster I lied
You must’ve got a bad run or it’s aged in just a year bc that zero G roll was smooth af on 2 rides for me in 2022.
First dive coaster that has an odd number of seats across, so that's where the "true" middle seat comes from. On even numbers like all the others, there's two.
I didnt feel any shake at all
That "Yeet hill" had so much potential but the mid course ruined it 😔
When i rode this in 2022, the mid course break run didn't slow down as much
We need more shakey b&ms said knowone ever lol
rank the dives please
its on the to do list!
Okay, but you forgot to mention the best parts when Dr. Diabolical demands you to scream to power the ride!
Can we normalize LSMs after slow mid-course brake runs?
I know this is unrelated to this review but I am surprised Taylor hasn't reviewed Rock N roller coaster at Hollywood studios. That is such a good ride with great themeing
there actually was a reason for that! Its very hard to review indoor roller coasters because of the lack of footage you can get. POV's look very dark, and virtually no off ride footage. For this reason I tend to avoid indoor roller coaster reviews. That being said, Rock n Roller Coaster is on the radar because there is a clone of it at Walibi Holland which is outdoors, allowing for a better view of the layout. It will happen at some point!
@@CoasterStudios I never realized that but it makes sense. Thank you for explaining that! I am looking forward to that review
The theming is similar to dr doom's fearfall
Oh my goodness you didn’t have a great experience with this ride. I rode it yesterday it my train was full btw and it was smooth besides the zero g roll but how it’s always been butter smooth and the airtime hill always delivers like how
Did you ride with a full train at any point? I didn't experience any of these issues on my ride. No shakes, no slow downs, the airtime hill popped great...
yes- it definitely helps when there's a full train but its still noticeable
I always figured that they built it on flat land so it could be cloned easier. I wouldn't be surprised to see this become the new Batman: The Ride.
Me personally, I have it as my 3rd favorite in the park behind IRat and Poltergeist, I’ve always found Superman extremely overrated and Wonder Woman doesn’t run nearly as good as it did before the pandemic. It definitely looks like you caught it on a bad day, looked like it was cold and the park was empty when you went, if you ride it at night after a hot summer day, it runs really well, I’d definitely suggest giving it another shot during the summer when you get an opportunity.
Cliffy is bae ❤
What’s going on with B&M?
I’ve heard about Mandrill and Pipeline being shaky, and this too. What’s up with the new B&Ms being shakier than usual?
EDIT: My best guess is that they’re all essentially prototypes
Would’ve liked one at Great Adventure but oh well
With Dorney getting a Dive coaster I think we can kiss that option goodbye... but I agree, it would've made a nice addition
I just can't wrap my head around how B&M refuses to do a dive coaster without a freaking Immelmann. Don't get why they're using magnetic brakes on the block brake either. Weird. Slows it down way too much
Great review! Is Poltergeist better than Joker's Jinx and Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion outside of the theming?
Yes.
FoF's are the worst of the model
What about Joker's Jinx?@@Posirep
@chargedonpc9989 Haven't ridden it. Probably the same as Poltergeist with worse theming.
Poltergeist also got a renovation recently so
@@Posirep I've ridden Flight of Fear at Kings Dominion and Joker's Jinx.
@@chargedonpc9989 Joker's Jinx is the only one I havent ridden...despite living closest to it
As a Dutchman, I gotta ask: does this compare to Baron? Which one does the theme better?
Still gotta give Baron the win on theming
One hour gang
What about the audio?
We'll just have to see how Iron Menace stacks up to this thing.
Is iron menace another mini dive coaster
@@user-yp8xk3kb3m Yes, it is a dive coaster coming to Dorney Park this year.
Iron Menace looks like it will be more intense.
@@AFCompany I know it does, but. it all depends on how it runs.
Do you prefer the larger dives to the smaller ones?
I prefer the ones without a MCBR
@@CoasterStudiosHopefully SeaWorld San Diego gets the next B&M Surf coaster.
I personally want an RMC raptor for SeaWorld San Diego
Too bad parks most likely wont listen to what we want. But we just pray we get what we want.
Viper supremacy magic mountain
I only want Viber to stay just so emperor can hold the record in California for longest tallest and fastest dive coaster
This is technically 1 of 2 beyond vertical drop dive coasters in the six flags chain
Dare Devil Dive is not a dive coaster, it is a Euro-Fighter
@@CoasterStudios I was talking about the recent merger of Six Flags and Cedar Fair making Dorney park part of the six flags chain and thus Iron Menace being the other beyond vertical drop dive coaster
@@Mylifeislikeavideogame ohhh I gotcha! LOL good point
So why is building on the quarry wall more expensive?
anytime you have to build an attraction on uneven ground (terrain) it ups the cost. It's always cheaper to build an attraction on a parking lot than a hillside.
I hate that you can hear Dr. Diabolical yelling "scream for me! louder" all the way over by freaking Poltergeist
I just went to this park over the weekend. I disagree with the park ranking. I’d personally put Rattler, then cliffhanger. Wonder Woman is basically KD, super good but never healthy. It has 1 operating train, the other they tried to run and it failed. And on the one train, one seat isn’t working. Superman is fine, just boring. Poltergeist has the launch, but also boring and really uncomfortable for a 6’3” guy like myself. Cliffhangers drop is good enough to be 2. It bucks you forward like nothing I’ve ever experienced.
I just rode Cliffhanger last night. Just like you said, it shuffles more than your local tap dancer 😮😂
@@mrchrisliddell you’re spot on. Plus the seats gave room for all the movement, making it more intense.
Definitely won't be the last.
You say there are cubbies for larger items.... that is a convenience..... you should never get in line for any ride with large items..... that said my cousin left her iphone in the box on gatekeeper many times and it was always there....
Also are they really vests is they have otsr ? That would be like calling it a lapbar at that point
Hey will you guys be at ultra surf media day
Depends when it is!
@@CoasterStudios Alright good to know! I saw you guys at arieforce one and kid flash media day, I'm Anderson don't know if you guys remember me
Why did B&M not work with Six Flags since 2012?
Six Flags always opted for cheaper, more affordable rides
Ride the ride now it’s soooooo much better
The theming idea seeems inspirated by alton towers secret weapons :) but if it works? six flags to me where always coasters on a parking lot ;)
but six flags only has like 2 roller coasters on parking lots and that’s it. they have hundreds of others that are in great areas with terrain
I honestly think there should be more B&M Dive coasters at more Six Flags parks besides Fiesta. Parks like SFMM, SFGAm, and SFOG can benefit having one in their lineup in the near future
and hopefully those are executed a bit better than this one
They put a lot of effort on theming beucase They knew the coaster itself would not be that great 😂 jk
One of the most pointless coasters out there aside from the first drop. Dive coaster layouts are such a joke
This ride looks so mid.
