yes, i checked it on my XM3 headphone, and it now connected to my laptop and mobile at the same time. and the audio switching is smooth. thanks for pointing this out.
Anil Prusty, what exactly did you mean by audio switching? Did you mean that both devices were always paired, or always connected? Like pick up new device and hit play and the audio automatically works on the new device? Or pick up the device, hit connect after disconnecting from previously used device and then the audio works on the new device? I can’t seem to get the latter to work.

I have them and they don't stop playback when you place your hand over the earcup, it just changes the ANC mode to prioritise voices and actually amplifies noise of note (e.g. cars passing by). It lowers the volume of the audio playing to something like 5% which can be annoying when listening to a podcast as it will continue but you won't be able to hear it. Great headphones, though!

Trust me, I have tried that multiple times myself. Apart from that the delay is too long for my liking, so I end up taking them off everytime I talk to someone.
@@MeisterYodarkusIt is not meant for talking to people, it is meant for listening to announcements during your commute or things like that. Get the XM4's for 350$ IF and ONLY IF, you need to use the microphone on it for phone calls. If you are looking for MAXIMUM SOUND QUALITY AND NOISE CANCELLATION get the XM3's for like $199
XM4s are better in sound quality and noise cancellation than the XM3s. They also have a better battery life and have the auto pause thing which MKBHD talked about.
@@Nobody_Daremo Sound quality is slightly more balanced, but the battery life is actually worse and the microphone is not as good as XM3. Main difference is the auto-pause when taking headphones off your head and multi-connectivity via BT. Unless you care for these features, XM3 is probably better bang for your buck.
I’m from Sweden and I use these everyday for my commute to school and this subzero issue is a thing. It’s not so bad it does it sometimes and it gets annoying but it’s not constant and also it is easily fixable most of the times. However if it gets real cold they think you are holding your entire palm over it and it mutes the music and plays the ambient sound. That’s crazy annoying. The only fix that I’ve found is to actually hold your palm to “heat” it up and then it becomes responsive again. During really cold conditions the touchpad starts to fail to register swipes and again the only solution I’ve found is to heat it up and then do what you wanted.
For me, this is easily fixed by simply turning the headphones off and on again. This seems to ”reset” the touchpad to the new ambient temperature and they work normally again. It is still a hassle though.
Thank you Marques, for mentioning the cold weather problem. I live in Sweden and it was hell annoying with the touch going crazy. I reported it to Sony and finally they sent out an update that almost fixed the problem. It works better now and rarely gives me trouble. P.S. You are the first guy to ever mention this problem. Really appreciate you doing actually research unlike others.
Bought them a couple of months ago and love every single bit of them. Only thing for me is that if you wear a hoodie it's very common to have ghost touches, thankfully they have released an update which allow you to deactivate the touches and you don't have the problem anymore! They sound soooo good and using them on the tube and plane all the time. Really a game changer if you love listening to proper music.
@@xnadeems Depends of the other choices you have. Mic is not as good as with the Bose. Still, I was able to use it normally. In general very happy with my purchase but if your idea is to call a lot get the earbuds like airpods pro.
I have sennheiser and I hate multiple devices... or at least that they all connect automatically. I'll leave my laptop on and walk to the next floor and it's connect disconnect galore.
@@erikngn Yeah, he missed a bunch of stuff. This really wasnt a review it just felt rushed. I have these headphones and he didnt mention several features.
Honestly, the Sony Headphones app makes the headphones worth the money. The good sound quality alone wasn't enough good enough for me to justify dropping $350+ on these. Soon as I heard about the extended features avaliable through the app. IE: eq, different, surround sound options, levels of ambient noise, etc. I, then, could justify the purchase.
So I have a question about the app. I did a reset on my m3’s and that reset the software update too. Now I can’t update the headphones to the current software. The download just doesn’t move no matter how long I leave it. Is there a fix to this?
I just got these headphones, I can now hear the AC in your hotel room... that or I can hear my hair growing. Blown away! I'm hearing stuff I never even knew existed in my music!
What a sad, public announcement of non existent self-esteem. Be sure, before you marry, to give "Marqs" a ride so he can confirm everything you think about your wife to be.
There is a issue with the newest firmware 4.1.1 on this headphones that almost ruin the noise canceling on these headphones. The noise canceling doesn't work as well and you can hear things much easier then on older firmware. If you own these headphones stay on older firmware until they fix this issue.
might be a dumb question, but you sure it's not just changing the default value of the noise canceling? You know, since the noise canceling is granular in the app.
Have had these for a year after doing extensive research with Marques review and others, and I can say, they are more than worth their price tag, no regrets. Insane noise canceling, Perfect sound quality (it’s Sony so what did you expect lol), and CRAZY battery life and charging. I kid you not I charge this bad boy for 5 min and I’m up from 10% to 60% battery, which is 15 hours of playtime
I didn't know about the problem in cold weather, but I actually experienced this issues today in about -3C temperatures. Good thing I'm not planning on using these on my commute, as they're practically unusable in cold conditions.
Wow, we’ve been reviewing these series of headphones for years but amazing how you’ve nailed every aspect in your very first review. Guess that’s why you’re you! You didn’t cover the app so here’s a solution for one of your problems: Go to the noise canceling slider in the app and move it all the way to the left: you’ll get ‘wind noise reduction’. This should help with air blowing into the mics.
I've had mine for about 3-4 years now. Best headphones I have ever used and only today did I need to go about replacing the earpads! Super comfy for long gaming sessions. Great for working in as well.
I read only good things about these headphones. I bought one today. I was blown away by the sound quality. I had no trouble pairing. The case is really nice. On one side, it looks like a speaker. I'm impressed.
The sound quality is about a 7/10 (best in class for anc headphones but not near amazing like people say). Reasonably priced Headphones that will blow you away are Sennheiser hd25 (closed back) and beyer dynamic dt990 pro (open back ... ie home listening only).
The headphones also have a feature where if you put your hand over the ear cup, it disables noise cancelling. And once you enable ANC, the mics are not a problem, but however the app is still not that good. I own a pair, and enjoy them. They work great, mics arent a problem, but sound leakage is a problem. I miss the days MKBHD heavily reviewed products, instead of a summary.
The cold weather issue is true as hell. It sometimes activated Siri or activates the ambient noise feature for a long period of time. I usually just reset it but it’s annoying. Other than that, it is an amazing headset.
As a swede, the cold weather problem is fixable. When the touch-controller gets cold, you'll just have to reset the headset to reset the parameters. Works every time! Great headphones! 👍 Edit: When I'm talking about cold I mean from 0 to -10 C
@@Will-nf8hg I've only experienced the problem when going from warm to cold not the other way around. When doing the reset it fixes the "phantom touches" permanently. I can only find one problem with the headphones. If there is a fog or very humid air that can create small water droplets on the headphones, it might actually create the "phantom touch" problem again and I haven't seem to find a solution to that problem. Maybe you shouldn't use them when it's raining 😆.
literally all the flaws he talked about are software fixed now, no cold weather problems, it pauses when taking it off, it connects to multiple devices. It’s perfect now

You do a really great job in this video. I have these exact headphones and I love them. I was having a problem with volume at first. As much as I turned up the volume on my DAP, they would only play to a certain decibel level. Very limited. I was quite disappointed. But then I learned I needed to turn the volume up on the headphones by touching/moving the volume on that right ear cup. It’s loud enough now. Thanks again for doing this video.
@Z3U5 A few months ago I bought the 4.50 for 99 euros. Hated the comfort, controls were average and build quality Ok. Sound was excellent for the price and noise cancelling very good. Ended up returning them getting the 35 II's for 250 bucks and don't regret it. Better noise cancelling pretty identical sound but way better comfort interchangeable earcups, better interface, battery life, carrying case, build quality, app support and in my opinion a better look
Honestly the pxc550 sounds a LOT better, but it’s kind of neutral...you may not like that signature if you’re into bass heavy coloured sound (nothing wrong with that) xm3s are absolutely useless for any audio production....even hd4.50 btnc sounds a lot natural than these.
Eyeee wasup Danish, I can't say personally for the pxc, but I own a pair of these, they are awesome. You can keep them on all day, the noice cancelling works at half volume and you can't hear anything around you
Diogo Gambini Absolutely wrong, the pxc550 is the most neutral of them all and even can be used for production and monitoring. The USB audio is top notch too. Yes, if you like bass boosted (not properly layered) coloured sound, Sony can be a good choice. But if someone is serious about sq, Sennheiser absolutely crushes Sony’s XM3s.
Love my XM3s! Have actually bought and tested the XM4s twice as I like to upgrade but been disappointed in the sound quality. The crispness and energetic sound of the XM3s is a keeper. I know it’s contrary to what most reviews samt but definitely the case for me

I don't ha very them buy tested. When you put your hand over the cup, it just doesn't stop playback but the ANC too.
There are usable, i would say my friend over the phone said that he didn't got bothered enough to be annoyed at the sound quality of the mic.

Bro u forgot to mention that if you cover the ear cups the noise cancelation turns off. So u dont have to take then off when you speaking to someone. ☺️☺️
Which is only good in theory because of the people you're talking to nobody knows that is a thing. So you'll be appearing as rude when talking to someone like that. Trust me, I have tried that multiple times myself. Apart from that the delay is too long for my liking, so I end up taking them off everytime I talk to someone.
That is visually odd :D
When you speak to someone, covering your ear (*I can't hear you lalala...*) outside of that I do think it's also pretty cool.

Yeah mate, not a problem for us
I’m from Sweden and I use these everyday for my commute to school and this subzero issue is a thing.
I’ve never had it do other actions than muting so it hasn’t paused or changed song only muting seams to be the case
That's so unfortunate :( Jag är också från Sverige. Måste flytta till varmare breddgrader alltså... 😂
How cold does is it in Sweden, I'm in singapore and it is 32 degrees everyday so I haven't encounter this problem
@@wyw201 Well, sometimes it gets really cold, right now though it's about minus one degree Celsius.
Please can you let me know hows the call quality.. i heard they have got the worst microphones ... actually this issue has put off from these

There is a issue with the newest firmware 4.1.1 on this headphones that almost ruin the noise canceling on these headphones. The noise canceling doesn't work as well and you can hear things much easier then on older firmware. If you own these headphones stay on older firmware until they fix this issue.
Ok so it wasn't just me.. I definitely noticed a slight reduction in the noise cancelling over the past couple weeks after the update
might be a dumb question, but you sure it's not just changing the default value of the noise canceling? You know, since the noise canceling is granular in the app.
Nope I definitely hear more noise around me with ANC on all the way.
Any way to downgrade the software?

Wow, we’ve been reviewing these series of headphones for years but amazing how you’ve nailed every aspect in your very first review. Guess that’s why you’re you!
You didn’t cover the app so here’s a solution for one of your problems: Go to the noise canceling slider in the app and move it all the way to the left: you’ll get ‘wind noise reduction’. This should help with air blowing into the mics.
Love your reviews! :)

What do you think in comparison to Sennheiser pxc 550?
Senheiser is only worth it to consider because you can find them for cheaper then the Bose, Sony or Surface Headphones
