Not only do I learn so much about the different fragrances and deeper dives into specific notes, you are a master at painting a picture to set the mood of the fragrance. Thank you for your content. Be Well!
Marcelo, you are a force of nature. You bring me inspiration and joy in a time where there is little of both. I am finding that while my wood list goes: 1) Oud, 2) Cedar, 3) PaloSanto 4) Birch, then 5) Sandalwood. Sapele used to be my number 5, but for the past handful of years, I have become drawn to Sandalwood. It is a very interesting note. It can be used in a soft, lush, liquid type manner or a hard rigid form. The scents in my range are varied, however, I have never smelled the vinegary "pickle" note that many seem to make comparisons. Love that these series are back in '25. Be Well! 🎉🎉🎉😊
Two Sandalwood fragrances in my collection that come to mind are Serge Lutens Santal Majescule, and Radio Bombay by D.S & Durga. I haven't yet tried Nothing but Sea and Sky, but I see on Fragrantica that it has comparisons to Radio Bombay. I also have Amouage Reflection Man and I have yet another decant of Creed Original Santal coming (don't yet have a full bottle). I do have a bottle of the "poor man's alternative", Mont Blanc Individuel. And of course the staple woody Diptyque Tam Dao, I never thought of Sandalwood as a "calming" note, having attributed that to my favorite note of lavender. But yes, not only is it soft and creamy, but it is calming. Even slapping on sandalwood oil from my bottle of Pre-Shave Sandalwood Oil from Taylor of Old Bond Street is calming.
Great selection! I don't know what it is about Reflection but I'm avert to something in it. I find it repulsive. Could be the white floral aspect. I know it's super popular though so it's just me. Someone already mentioned Memo's Sherwood which I love but my favorite sandalwood will always be Amouage's Meander. That earthy carrot seed and frankincense giving place to that creamy sandalwood is just so comforting when autumn comes rolling in.
@@ragingexodus I'm glad I'm not alone lol. Have you by chance gotten your nose on 45 (the extrait)? I hear it's much rounder and deeper but I've never dared pull the trigger. I may end up getting a decant down the line, for the sake of curiosity.
I was in the middle of a procedure the other day and my patient said can’t you smell me? I wore this for the Maggi today. He proceeded to tell me the story of Frankincense and The Feast of the Epiphany…. During a procedure!!! Such a special Connection how fragrance can bring us together. Ive tried 2 from your list today, love when that happens as gives me a reference point to understand your other interpretations. Santal Astral and Lying on the roof…. Ayi yi yi 😂
Loved the video Marcelo! Vanuatu is a fragrance that im very intereseted to smell, i have a sample of jany and ylop and i really like the scents profiles ! Refletion Man is great too i have sample of that one too, love it easy to wear but im curious to smell Refletion 45 to see the differences between both! Theres a sandalwood that i really really love, Gris Charnel Extrait, man the sandalwood theres is sooooo goood ! Curveball since last time i talked about Raw gold from Thomas de Monaco Sol Salgado and Fuego Futuro their sandalwood is fenomenal at the level of Gris Charnel Extrait (but completly different) Try to smell Midnight to sunrise from the brand Eternal Jorney is great too (Im a bit of a sandalwood lover has you can see ahahahaha) Much Love and a huge hug from Portugal
Hi Marcelo, lady subbie here 👋🏾 i actually do like Original Santal but I tend to lean into masculine leaning fragrances. Not exclusively, but often. For example, I prefer Creed's Royal Oud over Royal Princess Oud. Regarding sandalwood prominent fragrances, my favorites in my collection are Santal Superfluide by Les Eaux Primordiales (the saffron and violet are so addictive), Father Figure by Phlur (the jammy fig and orris), and Sherwood by Memo (so creamy and smooth with that cashmeran and spice).
I'm always searching for a fragrance that is calming and sets a relaxed mood for everyone around me. "Santal Du Pacific", "Sanatal Austral", and "Vanuatu" are the 3 i think will fit me best. I've used "Zaharoff, Signature Pour Homme" as my calming and relaxed fragrance. It has all the meditative ingredients, with a little bit of extra, to give it a everyday signature scent. As a man, you can never go wrong with "Signature Pour Homme". ❤❤👏🏼👏🏼
Some great choices Marcelo. I own Orininal Santal, Nothing But Se and Sky and Reflection Man. I have the opportunity to pick up the Santal du Pacifique Extrait and would you recommend over the EDP
Been more than a minute for me. Regarding Blamage it always smells like fresh lavender bushes on opening then moves over time to a leather woody scent. That's how I think of it. Sadly my bottle sprayer dribbles and doesn't spray but it's all good and a wonderful fragrance. SOTD will be Nudiflorum for me.
I wish the opening on Santal Austral would be the main part of the fragrance, i nearly bought the fragrance but decided not to after a few hours waiting for scent to develop. Good day from Singapore 🇸🇬
5:00 Thanks for addressing the issue of sandalwood anosmia. I recently acquired a bottle of L’Oblio by Meo Fusciuni and love the first 2 minutes after spraying and then was wondering what happened. I thought it was some kind of joke or something and was considering reaching out to customer service but then asked my partner if she could smell me and she said she could smell me across the room. Does anyone know what season sandalwood fragrances are best worn in or any possible ways to overcome this type of anosmia? I’d love to be able to enjoy sandalwoods.
Gotta love a good, creamy saldalwood 🎉

A collection of bangers, thanks Marcelo 🎉
Creed Original Santal is really spectacular. It's soft and smooth. Rather than announcing itself boldly, it makes YOU smell fantastic.
These are all such great picks. Santal Austral is in my top three from Matière Premiere - it’s absolutely divine

Love these line up videos
Love these choices. I just picked up Seminalis recently and that has an amazing creamy sandalwood.

I agree. Like I can tell reflection is well blended and high quality, but it makes me sick

Boom, baby!
I'm a sandalwood lover! Piano Santal is a lovely sandalwood! I wonder if it is similar to Vanuatu
wearing Santal Volcanique from Maison Criveli today
Thank you so much! Could you please check out Agatho? The Pompei collection is amazing!
