This week we take a trip up to Trimingham Beach, a small coastal village on the North Norfolk coast to take a look at what appears to be a railway which has recently emerged from the sand.. Being far from any current or disused mainline railway lines what is it doing here?..

Why Have These Mysterious Railway Tracks Appeared On A Sandy Norfolk Beach?! wow video so beautiful , thanks two my friend share this video , big like for you . See you next time again ...
Thank you for taking the time to watch and for your lovely comment, glad you enjoyed watching 👍
Norfolk Rapid Coastal Survey, undertaken in 2004, recorded at least eleven sections of iron railway track with iron sleepers in this area. This railway was used in the post war period during mine and bomb disposal. Explosive devices were collected and then transported using the railway to areas on the beach where controlled explosions could take place.
That would make alot of sense and would certainly be fascinating if they were used for that.. I wonder if it would be possible it get a copy of the survey somewhere, I'd be interested in taking a read..
Here's the link about the survey
Really interesting video !! Enjoyed this alot
Nice visuals as always :)
Thanks Ben, it's quite a surreal location.. definitely worth a visit 😀👍
Interesting and a mysterious find.
We were certainly very intrigued when we heard about them and had to get up there before the sand covered them up again..
Very interesting. What an amazing find.
Thanks Alice, really glad we had the chance to film them before they get covered up again by the sand for another few years.. Thanks for watching 😊 👍
Just getting better and better!!!
Thank you, that's so nice of you to say, it's always good to get some feedback so we know if we are going in the right direction, thank you 😊
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu Yep, I think growing a UK channel is so difficult as we simply dont have the exposure of US creators - however, like yourself, slowly we learn, improve our gear, our production techniques etc... but fundamentally the places you go and visit are where I poke my nose from time to time. Be good to chat offline about Bawdsey as a few of us have visited the 'other' place over the years!
Really interesting find. The bomb disposal theory sounds the most likely although it's still a bit of a mystery why it was left (if that was its purpose). It just looks so surreal seeing a railway on a sandy beach. Very well filmed and captured.
It does seem as though the bomb disposal idea is the more common perception, although an old local 'boy' told us it was for the sea defences so who knows.. lol. Either way like u say it certainly looks surreal just laying there.. Thanks for watching 😊
How interesting! Thanks for sharing this guys - hope you have a good Christmas 🙂
Thanks, we'd never come across anything like this before.. A very Merry Christmas to you too 😁🎄
very good video , and very odd track poping up like that ,, cant see anything on the side by side maps
No the mainline railway up to Cromer was a fair distant away so couldn't have been anything to do with that.. We've had numerous suggestions but still haven't been able to get a definitive answer..
Thanks for watching, hope your keeping well 😊👍
Hi guys, great vid as usual, those 2 bits of metal you mentioned are banged into the ground upright by machine for instance sea wall defence, retaining wall etc etc, well done guys 👏👏
I think you are probably right and those bits are likely just from sea defences.. Thanks for watching Stephen and taking the time to comment 😀
Great video, brilliant location and filming as always! 👍
Thanks. Appreciate the comment 👍
Hello Em and Stu loved the bid the find was amazing hope you both had a lovely xmas the music was spot on many thanks for this vid.

@@robertfreeman2608 Hopefully things have settled down abit with our work and family lives now so should have abit more time for the channel this year fingers crossed 🤞 😊
Very curious. There have been remnants of old wooden ships on beaches being exposed in the U.S. with no clues as to where they came from. You would think that there would be some documentation of it somewhere. Thanks for sharing!
I'm sure someone knows.. we asked a few locals but they all said different things, but the more popular thought was it was constructed to help build the sea defences..
We’ll done! Love it!
Thank you, really appreciate you watching as always 😊
Great vid
Thanks for watching Jamie 😊
That looks like the same kind of tracks littered around France left from ww1. Same sort of tracks the Tommy laid across the fields approaching the somme battlefields to bring supplies to the front through the shitty mud.
We've had a few people suggest it likely dates back to around the war but we've not been able to find a definitive answer yet..
Look up trekking towpaths video about it mines I believe
Would certainly be fascinating if it was for mines.. not see anything like it around these parts before..
Bravo well done great work did you find them ok
Thank you thanks for watching happy new year 🎉
They could be remnants from WWII defence works.
Some say it could have been built during the removal of mines which were planted all along the coast here.. it's certainly a plausible theory..
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu Could be. The area is a direct distance to Nazi Germany in WWII.
Curious. Lets hope someone knows and shares the answer to the riddle.
Would be great to know the real reason they were built.. I'm sure someone must know.. 🤔
Interesting video who knows what it was originally for
Hi David.. according to local sources it was to help construct the sea defences but that just one theory going around.. 🤔
That is strange
Yes they were abit lol 😆
I think the big lumps of metal is pan piles for the creation of the sea wall and the track would have possibly be fortransporting sea defence magerials along the coastline as it runs along the length ov the groins
I think you're probably right Bert, should have noticed ourselves really..
@@ExploringWithEmAndStu i enjoy all of your adventures 😊happy walking
Thanks Bert, appreciate it 😊
